NORTHERN HARRIER-MALE - GRAY GHOST-11250712
This is an adult male. I've never seen this raptor before. They were so beautiful soaring around the hills. We hiked up to the top of the hill and were treated with two females soaring together and this spectacular male. I didn't even know it was the same species since the coloring is so different. Boy do I have a lot to learn.
Northern Harrier - male
Circus cyaneus
I've seen a ton of immature and/or female Northern Harriers, but it's a rare treat to see an adult male - the so-called "Gray Ghost". This was one of those opportunities, and I still didn't get a great one. But I'll take it - they are just magnificent to see in the air.
