The Native Dancer Statue, located in Centennial Park at the intersection of Union Avenue and Circular Street in Saratoga Springs, was created by Kentucky equine sculptor Gwen Reardon and donated to the city in 2015 by Marylou Whitney and John Hendrickson. The life size bronze monument honors Native Dancer, widely known as "The Grey Ghost" (or "The Grey Ghost of Sagamore"). One of the most influential thoroughbred racehorses in American history, he became the sport's first true television superstar in the early 1950's. Native Dancer won 21 of his 22 starts including five at Saratoga Springs. His only career defeat was at the 1953 Kentucky Derby, winning two Horse of the Year Titles (1952 and 1954).
