The following photos are of a Great Gray Owl devouring a vole it had caught. Some images are quite graphic and not intended to offend anyone. Its just a reality of nature.

It was good to have the South Gray High School Government class (including my brother, Austin, pictured to my right) visit the Capitol. I enjoyed visiting with them about how decisions being made now will be affecting them for the rest of their lives, including the $5 billion of debt our state currently has.

I don't post a lot of my non-railroad photos here, reserving most of them for my deviant ART gallery, but I'm really proud of this shot and wanted to share it here as well.

I was getting into my pickup when something flashed right by me. I turned around to look, thinking it was probably one of the ubiquitous pigeons that populate the city. I was surprised to see what I'm pretty sure is a Cooper's Hawk sitting in a tree right beside my drive way. I carefully took out my camera and stepped slowly closer and snapped a few shots before it flew away.

Elizabeth shared her peaceful gray beach picture with us and I'm thrilled with how it turned out. Shades of muted grays, slate blues, tans and natural all blend together in this overdye. Coming on Tuesday in Classic and Merino Sport.

Slaadi come in many forms. These ones are small in stature, but strong in magic!

No, no Photoshop trick on this bird. It really is this gray – almost monochromatic in color.

In this photo Oscar is my main subject. I liked the effect that the "oval" shape thing created bc it filled up my lens. I changed the white balance to brighten up the photo since it was a little gray and gloomy outside.

The Gray/Campbell Farmstead is the oldest house in Springfield, Missouri. The Farmstead is located in the Nathanael Greene Park on South Scenic. Along with the oldest house in Springfield (circa 1856), there is a log kitchen, a two crib barn, and a log granary. The House was built by James Price Gray and was later sold to his brother-in law, John Polk Campbell, the nephew and name-sake of the founder of the city of Springfield. The house was occupied by the Campbell family from 1865 to the 1950's, and it was moved to the Nathanael Greene Park in 1984 when the Kansas and James River Expressways were about to be constructed.

My friend Dr. Christopher Campbell and his team jumped out of a mechanical device doomed to failure this past Saturday June 30,2012 at approximately 7:50pm with his Special Forces Team, www.http://sfapt.org/, to kick off a race at Bowman Gray Raceway.

Doc and his team do this all over the country for special events with out of pocket expenses.

I was treated to first class Backstage passes!

Lawrence Gray (1898-1970) was an American film actor of the silent screen. He co-starred with Hollywood's greatest female stars including Gloria Swanson and Marion Davies.

After serving in the Navy during World War I, Lawrence Gray began working in the technical field of the film industry at Lasky Studios, also working as an extra. He liked the job and decided to become an actor. Between 1925 and 1936, he appeared in over forty films. Gray performed in many B movies. He was also often partnered with Hollywood's biggest female stars such as Gloria Swanson in Stage Struck (Cecil B. DeMille, 1925) and The Untamed Lady (Frank Tuttle, 1926), Norma Shearer in After Midnight (Monta Bell, 1927) and Colleen Moore in Oh, Kay! (Mervyn LeRoy, 1928). Memorable is his part as the rich playboy Billy Caldwell in The Patsy (King Vidor 1928), who is overcome with sleep. At the same time, Marion Davies tries to get his attention with impersonations of Lilian Gish, Mae Murray, and Pola Negri. Somehow she manages to convince her family Billy has assaulted her while rather the opposite has happened.

Lawrence Gray's light and pleasing tenor voice enabled his easy transition from silent to musical films. He was Davies's co-singer in Marianne (Robert Z. Leonard, 1929), her talkie-debut. He contributed to the soundtrack of some musical films like Children of Pleasure (Harry Beaumont, 1930), in which he starred himself, and The Florodora Girl (Harry Beaumont, (1930), with again Davies. Gray also starred in It's a Great Life (Sam Wood, 1929), with the Duncan Sisters, and Sunny (William A. Seiter, 1930), with Marilyn Miller. Like in his silent films, Gray was either the leading man to the featured female star or a supporting player. His career in musicals ended in 1931 when their over-production caused audiences to lose interest. Lawrence 'Larry' Gray, often considered the ideal son or son-in-law, was devoted to his parents, who lived with him. In 1935, Gray married the Mexican Maria Luisa Figueroa. In 1936, he ended his Hollywood film career. For thirty-three years, Gray henceforth worked in Mexico as a coordinator between the Mexican and US film industries. Lawrence Gray died at age 71 in 1970 in Mexico City.
