On hikes in and near Paradise Meadows (Strathcona Provincial Park, Vancouver Island) you may encounter Gray Jays that were each given a unique combination of coloured bands. Future observations of these now individually identifiable birds will permit researchers to learn how long they live, how big their territories are, and the details of their social and nesting behaviours.

Gray goldenrod (Solidago nemoralis) is also known as old field goldenrod. This hardy wildflower is native to much of the country except the west. It thrives in full sun and dry soil and is among the shortest goldenrod species, typically measuring about two feet tall. It provides essential late season food for bees, butterflies and more. This one was blooming in St. Louis County, Minnesota.

David Gray performs at Edgefield August 23, 2014 after releasing his new album "Mutineers". The concert opened with a set by David Kitt who returned to the stage as part of David Gray's band.

Several of these squirrels live in my front yard. They usually come out in the morning around 9 o'clock, if the sun warms up, then again in the evening around 5 PM. They are so agile and quick jumping from one tree branch to another tree - I enjoy watching them from a distance.

There are two subspecies of Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch in this photo. The ones with the all gray head except for the black cap are Tephrocotis (Rockies from mid Montana North to Brooks Range. The ones with gray down just below the eye are Littoralis (Cascades of Washngton to Alaska).

The Gray/Campbell Farmstead is the oldest house in Springfield, Missouri. The Farmstead is located in the Nathanael Greene Park on South Scenic. Along with the oldest house in Springfield (circa 1856), there is a log kitchen, a two crib barn, and a log granary. The House was built by James Price Gray and was later sold to his brother-in law, John Polk Campbell, the nephew and name-sake of the founder of the city of Springfield. The house was occupied by the Campbell family from 1865 to the 1950's, and it was moved to the Nathanael Greene Park in 1984 when the Kansas and James River Expressways were about to be constructed.
