It is no wonder that gray fox and cat tracks are often confused for one another, some scientists even think that the gray fox is a kind of "link species' between dogs and cats. But there are some key differences in their sign. Fox tracks, like all members of the canine family, are symmetrical, whereas cat tracks are not. And though their claws are semi-retractable, they do show up in certain substrates in gray fox tracks. Here, you can see clear claw marks in the front track that has been super-imposed upon by the hind foot in this set of tracks.

Pair of Gray Kingbirds (Tyrannus dominicensis) on a tree in R. Hardy Matheson County Preserve in Miami, Florida. These birds are summer visitors to Florida from the Caribbean.
This photo looks like it's taken in November, but it was actually in June. Despite what the calendar said, I still got the urge to go inside and light a fire after my morning walk.

This is Daniel Gray. He is a very talented guy and this was taken behind the scenes of a new music video for his song 'Crazy' directed by my good pal Fantavious Fritz

I was glad to have the opportunity to get this shot because my only shot I had of this species before was not very good. There were at least 2, maybe 3, in my backyard. Parke County, IN
now that I see this on the web there's some banding in the sky that should probably be dealt with... oh well. I just spent way too much time cloning dust spots out of the sky. Time to get my sensor cleaned. :)
ETA - fixed the banding I think. For anyone interested reprocessing in16 bit did not work. i used the add noise filter at 3, and then a gaussian blur on a flattened copy. Then I applied a layer mask to apply the adjustments only to right side of the sky where the banding was.
The Indian Gray Hornbill (Ocyceros birostris) is one of two species of hornbill I saw while I was in India. It came and sat on an exposed branch right above the road just as I was done birding my local patch.
the goings on while im trying to photograph satellites..
i just find the commotion and noises hilarious..
the foxes try to get food while the skunks even the babies
know the power they have, it does get rather aromatic
the skunks prefer to charge and stomp instead of spray
but its all good. nobody dead and that's all that matters.

The Cariboo Cougars' winning streak has reached double digits.
The Cougars rattled off their 10th straight BC Major Midget League win on Sunday afternoon, dispatching the Thompson Blazers 5-1 at Kin 1. The first-place Cougars, 19-2-1 on the year, have only conceded eight goals during their current streak - including a pair of shutout wins.
Justin Almeida with a pair led the way, while Todd Bredo, Keith Redden, and Riley Coish also scored for the Cougars on Sunday. Tyler Ward replied for the Blazers.
The Cougars have now won 15 of their past 16 games, outscoring their opponents 99-25 during that span.
Almeida got things going at 6:17 of the first, taking a feed from Chase DuBois and expertly placing a snap shot past Blazers goalie Aris Anagnostopoulos. Bredo made it 2-0 just over a minute later with a bouncing backhander finding its way through traffic in front at 7:27. Colton Thomas had the lone assist.
Bredo also set up the third goal of the period with a powerful point shot, Redden buried the rebound at 9:46, with Austin Gray also picking up a helper on the power play goal.
Almeida potted his second of the game at 9:06 of the second, converting a rebound after a scrambly play in front of the Blazers' net. Wesley Shipton and Zack Smith got the assists.
Coish capitalized on a rebound off an Alex Hanson shot at 10:10 of the third to score his second of the weekend. Jeremy Gervais also got an assist.
Ward ended the Cougars' shutout streak at 13:58 of the third, tipping a shot over Dorrin Luding's shoulder. Matthew Facchinelli and Garrett Ewart got the assists.
Luding and Griffin Outhouse had combined for a shutout streak of 189 minutes and six seconds, dating back to last weekend's games against the Okanagan Rockets.
Luding finished Sunday's game with 19 saves, Anagnostopoulos had 63.
The Cougars play their final home games before the Christmas break next weekend. The North Island Silvertips visit Kin 1 at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday and 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.

OK, I hadn’t actually meant to take a video of a Gray Petrel. Rather, I still had the camera set on video when someone yelled, “Gray Petrel!”. So, when I saw it was recording rather than photographing, I immediately stopped the recording, alas. But this clip, short as it is, shows one of the bird’s most distinctive features: its highly un-petrel-like powered flight. This species is known for following cetaceans; we only saw them once, with this pod of orcas. Perhaps this specialist lifestyle means that, on the one hand, it has more abundant food and doesn’t need to conserve energy as much as other petrels and, on the other hand, it needs a direct flight style to be able to track the whales, not soar where the wind takes it.

As the scientific name implies, gray tree frogs are variable in color owing to their ability to camouflage themselves from gray to green, depending on the substrate where they are sitting. The degree of mottling varies.[3] They can change from nearly black to nearly white. They change color at a slower rate than a chameleon. Dead gray tree frogs and ones in unnatural surroundings are predominantly gray. The female does not croak and has a white throat; however, the male does croak and has a black/gray throat. The female is usually larger than the male.
They are relatively small compared to other North American frog species, typically attaining no more than 1.5 to 2 in (3.8 to 5.1 cm). Their skin has a lumpy texture to it, giving them a warty appearance. They are virtually indistinguishable from the Cope's gray tree frog, H. chrysoscelis, the only readily noticeable difference being their calls. Cope's gray tree frog has a shorter, faster call.[4] The gray tree frog also has an extra set of chromosomes (4N), or 48 in total, and is called tetraploid gray tree frog in scientific circles. The Cope's gray tree frog, or diploid gray tree frog, retained its 2N (24) original chromosome set. Hybridization between these species results in early mortality of many larvae, but some individuals survive to adulthood though they have reduced fertility.[5]
Both H. chrysoscelis and H. versicolor have bright-yellow patches on their hind legs, which distinguishes them from other tree frogs, such as H. avivoca.[6] The bright patches are normally only visible while the frog is jumping. Both species of gray tree frogs are slightly sexually dimorphic. Males have black or gray throats, while the throats of the females are lighter.[7]
Tadpoles have rounded bodies (as opposed to the more elongated bodies of stream species) with high, wide tails that can be colored red if predators are in the system. Metamorphosis can occur as quickly as two months with optimal conditions. At metamorphosis, the new froglets will almost always turn green for a day or two before changing to the more common gray. Young frogs will also sometimes maintain a light green color and turn gray or darker green after reaching adulthood.
