Cretaceous sandstones and shales outcrop in the Gros Ventre River Valley Near Grand Teton National Park in the Bridger-Teton National Forest east of Kelly, Wyoming
Catbirds tend to be noisy, friendly and, for some reason, very hard to photograph. They like to stick to shrubby areas and never seem to sit still very long and know very little about "good light". This one was following the Jays and Bluebirds around looking for food for the babies, so I managed a couple of shots. I choose this one as it shows the rusty color under the tail (and it fit in the shot). It gave me a lot of other shots to dig through. I've seen it with a baby, so I'm hoping that it will show up and give a shot of the two of them together. Of course, it will have to be with a shorter lens or a better perch (or creative composition) so that they both fit into the photo.
No signs of baby Bluebird survivors, but the parents continue to gather insects and keep flying off in the same direction. Hopefully, I'll see one or two in the next couple of days. Working on booby traps for the raccoons around the nest boxes.

This wolf was fenced off from the other wolves moving around in their outdoor enclosure, though I'm not sure why. It was pacing madly in confinement, perhaps because the other wolves were being fed. I am sure there is some reasonable explanation as to why this wolf was not with the rest of the "pack" but it was clearly a healthy, energetic animals.
I'm much more familiar with the individual citizens living at Montana Grizzly Encounter near my home than I am with the specific animals housed at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center just outside of Yellowstone's entrance at the town of West Yellowstone, Montana.
However, at GWDC the animals are clearly healthy and seem to be happy in captivity where they don't have to concern themselves with where there next meal is coming from or other risks of life in the wild.
The GWDC is a wildlife park that provides sanctuary for grizzly bears, wolves, otters, raptors, and other wildlife that, due to a variety of circumstances, such as captive breeding, would not be able to survive if released to the wild. The facilities for husbandry are superb, and the public education programs are top notch.

Ampelornis griseiceps
Utuana Reserve, Loja, Ecuador.
Male. One of the rarest and most threatened of all the antbirds, inhabiting a very small area in southern Ecuador and northwestern Peru. It seems to require semi-humid forest with a dense bamboo understory, and almost all of its habitat has been cleared. It occurs in only a few protected areas, including the Jorupe and El Tundo reserves in Ecuador and the Tumbes Reserved Zone in Peru.

The Indian Gray Hornbill (Ocyceros birostris) is one of two species of hornbill I saw while I was in India. It came and sat on an exposed branch right above the road just as I was done birding my local patch.
Visited a couple of libraries north of the Thames estuary today - first stop Grays.
The library is in the Thameside complex, which it shares with a theatre, museum, register office and cafe.

the skunks prefer to charge and stomp instead of spray
