The Meadown Grasshopper is a common grasshopper found in fields, hedgerows, and meadows. It has a green to brown body with short antennae and powerful hind legs for jumping. Males produce a distinctive chirping song by rubbing their hind legs against their wings, especially on warm summer days.

Picture of a pink grasshopper, caused by a genetic condition called erythrism. Found at 29-9-18 in the Netherlands.

More this year than we've ever seen before.

Took this with a grasshopper on the main flower....

I have seen and heard the Grasshopper warbler before usually from a fair distance away and they do have a lovely but unusual song as the name suggest`s, but today I was able to get so much closer and felt so "privileged" to be able to watch and photograph this wonderful songbird,a very big thanks to two great mates who helped me with the location of this cracking bird,so this is another first capture for me,and I am absolutely delighted to be able to post this image tonight.

Another shot taken at the RSPB photography workshop. I generally never use flash, so it was interesting to try it out and to get this shot... of a very obliging grasshopper posing on a set-up indoors. I definitely need to do more reading up about using flash.

I don't know whether this grasshopper can be IDd from this photo, but if it can, I'd love to know what species it is.

Literally just fart'n around with the camera.

Lactista gibbosus(Thanks to Aliceinw for the ID) I don't recall seeing one with blue legs before.

I'd guesstimate that this is a second or third instar two-striped grasshopper (Melanoplus bivittatus). Photographed near the pond at Parc-nature du Bois-de-l'Île-Bizard, near Montréal, Québec, Canada.

Pentax D-FA 100mm F/2.8 Macro plus Raynox DCR-250 with off-camera diffused Yongnuo YN-560 III flash. MFD, plus a slight crop. I estimate the body length of this insect at about 7-8mm.

This little grasshopper lives in my flower bed and at the moment I can hear it outside my window chirping pretty loudly.

Bees and birds on sunflowers are common, but this is the first time I've noticed a grasshopper and even then I had to have a fellow photographer point it out to me.
