The Meadown Grasshopper is a common grasshopper found in fields, hedgerows, and meadows. It has a green to brown body with short antennae and powerful hind legs for jumping. Males produce a distinctive chirping song by rubbing their hind legs against their wings, especially on warm summer days.

I have seen and heard the Grasshopper warbler before usually from a fair distance away and they do have a lovely but unusual song as the name suggest`s, but today I was able to get so much closer and felt so "privileged" to be able to watch and photograph this wonderful songbird,a very big thanks to two great mates who helped me with the location of this cracking bird,so this is another first capture for me,and I am absolutely delighted to be able to post this image tonight.
Here is a Grasshopper Sparrow taken after sunset in Virginia, announcing his presence with a high, buzzy song.
Another shot taken at the RSPB photography workshop. I generally never use flash, so it was interesting to try it out and to get this shot... of a very obliging grasshopper posing on a set-up indoors. I definitely need to do more reading up about using flash.
I don't know whether this grasshopper can be IDd from this photo, but if it can, I'd love to know what species it is.
