Sidney, Montana; known locally as "the three sisters", these vintage grain elevators sit along the tracks near Main Street.

Despite the fact that I especially like wooden grain elevators, I think that this one is my new favorite with its unique to me tower on the left, and the printing on the oldest elevator in the large agglomeration.
Cheyenne Wells, Colorado
With a population of under 850, Cheyenne Wells is the most populous town in Cheyenne County, located on the Great Plains in Colorado. These elevators represent the most visible industrial structures in the small town -- like shining castles on the plains.
Roseburg's vintage grain elevator, southwest of Marion, located along the line of the former Nickel Plate Road Cloverleaf District.
The roof and spouts at a feed mill in N. Vernon, Indiana. It's a small city that struggles with it's economy. Lots of closed restaurants and stores. And a new road will bypass the downtown.
I awoke this morning to the NS dispatcher informing train 48T that they would be meeting #122 at Chapin. Since I had the day off, I decided to grab Miss Emma and head west for an elusive morning eastbound shot west of Springfield. #122 finally showed up at New Berlin a little before 9:00 AM with a very nice Trash 9 on the point. I guess legible number boards are now optional equipment.

The grain elevator in Arapahoe, CO is starting to look pretty bad. A significant portion of one of the headhouse walls is completely gone and the whole of the headhouse is starting to lean a bit. I don't think this elevator has much time left, alas.
Normally this slip would have ice cover a couple feet thick in early March but not this year. Riverland's ex-Cargill (C&NW) SW-1 moves a cut of cars.
This prairie skyscraper stands proud at mile 50 along the Canadian Pacific's Indian Head Subdivision.
Both these elevators have succumbed to the wrecking ball in 2019.
Cruising along U S Route 30 in Cozad, Nebraska. The 100th Meridian
Note: Some of my Nebraska 2013 photos may have been posted back in 2013 but some may have been deleted by Flickr during some sort of electronic glitch or change over process.
I certainly didn't delete any pictures.
Out for a drive coming back from somewhere and grabbed this image of a grain elevator aka "Prairie Giants". They were designed to receive, store and ship grain in bulk. They are a disappearing symbol of the Canadian Prairie skyline.
Some have even called the grain elevators āPrairie cathedrals.ā
Passed this through a few Apps to get this Painterly effect.
Various construction material are featured in this view of grain elevator row in Paoli, CO. Unfortunately, I waited a very long time to develop this shot, so the negative suffered a bit. I guess it gives the photo a vintage feel, though. Whatever the case, it's this week's submission for #FilmFriday
Calumet C-1 "Green Monster" 8x10, 12" f4.5 Gundlach Radar on Efke 25 developed in Rodinal at 1:100. Exposure data unrecorded. "Scanned" with Nikon D800 and Micro-Nikkor 55mm f3.5.
More of the Palouse. I just took so many photos while there! I'm almost finished posting the images from there.
Apologies for not being terribly active on Flickr again. One of these days I'll be back. I promise!
Much of my free time has been devoted to getting stuff together for an upcoming show at the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center here in Pueblo. I'm incredibly honored and excited to be sharing my grain elevator work from the past decade in an exhibition!
All of my printing is completed and I've started getting everything framed. I also put together this banner image for the show.
If you're in the Pueblo area from late January to mid May, I'd love to have you visit the show. Stopping by the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center is worth the trip by itself. They are an incredible facility that features some truly inspiring art (they had a HUGE Ansel Adams show a couple of years ago that was nothing short of amazing).
Eastbound CN train Q198 passes the abandoned elevator at Butze Alberta (I've been told its pronounced "Butt - Zee")
Parked and waiting in a snow filled yard, these trains have to feel the chill and probably need to wait until spring.
