The city of Mount Vernon, in Westchester county, just north of the Bronx, was the early residence of Jamaican-born, Dwight Myers, better known as the rapper “Heavy D.” For this reason, artist, Andre Trenier, thought it would be fitting for a mural of the rapper be painted in his honor. Outreach to the Chamber of Commerce and then Mayor Ernest Davis, let to the renovation and dedication of a park named in Dwight Myers’s honor. A 45 minute ride via public transportation from the South Bronx, found me there to photograph this well done mural early one Tuesday morning.

Glad I took these pictures when I did. Last time I went past this spot it was covered with idiotic tags. I think this is my favorite SF Banksy (followed by Peace and Love). You can see it for yourself at Mission and Sycamore.
