Coney warren area outlined in orange

In response to a suggestion from Flickr contact Boyce Duprey, I checked out the location of today's soda bottle find using Google Earth.

I'm pretty sure this is the correct spot. I believe the area in which I found the old bottle dump is the reddish-colored smudge in the center of the photo about one-third in from the left edge. I suspect the bright white spot is the sun reflecting off the old galvanized wash tub that was there. It was the sun on the wash tub that caught my eye from ground level.

The smaller red smudge just below the green tree in the center of the image corresponds to a smaller dump site of rusty metal cans.

I was following the fence line that crosses the top of the image. I do not recall noticing anything out of the ordinary where the lighter colored patch is visible. I assume that is where cattle cluster near a corner where fence lines converge, but I shall inspect that area more closely when I have an opportunity.

I do not see any angular shapes nearby that suggest the remains of a foundation or anything of that nature, but I do see additional intriguing "white specks." If that light-colored speck is, indeed, the old wash tub, the resolution of these images is almost disconcerting... and suggest that maybe cleaning up my back yard might be a good idea!

Sometimes google maps gets things wrong. Nothing important obviously, but if you take a look at this bit of the map.... Look at the little details... Squint your eyes and concentrate now...

Vauxhall station is on completely the wrong side of the river! (This was since fixed but only after several months of wrongness)

Obviously that's a pretty serious navigational problem. Do you link to google maps when you email a friend with directions? Are you using google maps on your website? If you do this in the Vauxhall or Pimlico area you may not be being as helpful as you thought you were. Maybe it's time to use a better map, the open licensed map from the London-born not-for-profit OpenStreetMap.

A blogger created this hoax screengrab, purporting to be of a crowd in a Russian town, coming together to form a giant smiley face.

Note that I'm not connected to any wifi network (hence the checkerboard on the left), but my location is updated on the grid thanks to WPS.

Check the Note. I walked across this drunk on Beam when I was about 17 years old. I was chest deep in mud and lost my shoe to the mud. I threw the other one away. But I was dertermined to take the shortcut home.

Its pretty cool being able to actually see what I walked across.

Construction of a giant clock inside a remote mountain top in Texas. On the plain below is where Blue Origin conducts test flights. Viewed with Google Maps.

This is the reason I love Blackberry Curve.. I used this Curve a lot while I am on long trips.. Google Maps GPS really helped me to find the location.

One time, when my mom and I wanted to go out for lunch.. she want to go Panera Bread for lunch, so we do not know where it is. I decided to google up this on Google Maps, BB app, and found several pinpoint of Panera Bread around this map area. We went there for closest pin point from hotel.
