It's been 51 years since the Volkswagen Golf was introduced in 1974 and it's also been almost 17 years since the Golf MK6 was introduced in 2008. The MK6 was fashioned by Volkswagen’s chief designer, Walter de’Silva.
It retained the Mk5's platform and suspension but featured significant enhancements in refinement, technology, and engine options.
Similarly, the Golf Plus compact MPV was facelifted in 2009 and then the Golf Estate was facelifted in autumn of the same year. 2 years later, the Golf Cabriolet was introduced in 2011.
The model trims for the MK6 were S, SE, Match, GT, GTD, GTI, BlueMotion and R.
Approximately 2.85 million Volkswagen Golf Mk6 vehicles were produced between 2008 and 2012. Golf is historically Volkswagen's best-selling car, and is also among the best-selling cars globally, with over 35 million units sold.
The Volkswagen Golf Mk6 garnered numerous awards, notably being named the 2009 World Car of the Year. It also received recognition as the Safest Car of the Year by Euro NCAP in 2009.
In the end of 2012, the production of the Golf MK6 ended, and it was replaced by the Golf MK7. Similarly, the VW Golf Plus was discontinued in February 2014 was replaced by the Golf SV (Sportsvan). Finally, the Golf Cabriolet (2011) was discontinued in the UK and Europe in October 2016 (despite being only facelifted last year) due to decline in demand for convertibles and a need to free up production capacity for other models.

70802 is seen passing through Golf Street station in Carnoustie whilst working 6B32 Craiginches to Oxwellmains empty cement tanks from Friday 26th May. Booked train loco 60056 (on the rear) had failed in Aberdeen and 70802 was sent up from Grangemouth to effect a rescue - at the same time making the class debut both north of the Central Belt and also in Aberdeen. (this was also the class's debut on the Scottish Cement circuit)
It was only earlier this year the class were cleared north of Dundee.

Latest Bright Bricks build for AutoTrader UK. Check out the Autotrader UK Twitter feed to register your car and view the stop motion film of this build. The idea is that you register your car and it might get selected to be built in Lego. Each build will be live filmed and posted on Twitter/Youtube etc later the same day. I will be completing the builds this week. I have pre-selected the pieces and will build the car in their studio. I do not have access to all of our pieces so I am hoping I have the right ones. I don't even know which cars I will be building until the actual day. Wish me luck!
Ok so Wednesday’s challenge was to build this Modified Mk2 Golf. It took 6 hours and includes opening doors, opening bonnet/hood, detailed engine bay and interior.
This one was a real challenge. It has been modified with wide flaring wheel arches so I used a half stud offset and plenty of snot work to create the flare. The rear strut and roof was also very difficult but I think it worked out well. This one is my personal favourite so far.
Hope you like it.

Walking across Bruntsfield Links on a bright, spring day (links is an old Scots term generally applied to open bits of ground used for golfing, and this parkland was an important part in the game for centuries - still a small course there today). The Golf Tavern sits right by it, and as you can see folks were taking advantage of the nice weather to sit outside for a drink at lunchtime.
The pub itself claims to date back to a tavern there in 1456, although some sources say there's not enough evidence to support that claim, but certainly still an old establishment and golfers have enjoyed a drink at the "nineteenth hole" by the Links for a very long time, I'm sure! Used to go there when I lived nearby as a student and was nice bar, few years ago I found it remodelled inside and with poorer choice of proper ale, and didn't go back. Couple of friends said it had changed again and was now back to being pretty good, with nice food and decent selection of ales.

A bit over the top with the saturation, but I liked it. Sorry.
