The gilded statue of Anna Pavlova atop the Apollo Theatre, in Victoria, London.

The original statue of the leading Russian ballerina Pavlova (February 1881–January 1931) was erected by the owner of the Apollo, Alfred Butt, to celebrate his role in her career. Pavlova herself considered it unlucky and avoided looking at it whenever she visited. It was taken down in 1939 for safe keeping during the war, but was lost. The replica was erected in 2006.

El Buda de oro macizo más grande del mundo, es también, lógicamente, la mayor estatua de oro macizo del mundo, con 3 metros de altura. En el Templo WAT TRAIMIT

According to Wikipedia:-

Paul Manship's highly recognizable bronze gilded statue of the Greek legend of the Titan Prometheus recumbent, bringing fire to mankind, features prominently in the sunken plaza at the front of Rockefeller Plaza. The model for Prometheus was Leonardo (Leon) Nole, and the inscription, a paraphrase from Aeschylus, on the granite wall behind, reads: "Prometheus, teacher in every art, brought the fire that hath proved to mortals a means to mighty ends." Some sources cite it as the fourth-most familiar statue in the United States, behind the Lincoln Memorial, Mount Rushmore, and the Statue of Liberty.

Site of a Hindu temple and shrine, Batu Caves attracts thousands of worshippers and tourists, especially during the annual Hindu festival, Thaipusam.

A limestone outcrop located just north of Kuala Lumpur, Batu Caves has three main caves featuring temples and Hindu shrines.

Its main attraction is the large statue of the Hindu God at the entrance, besides a steep 272 climb up its steps to finally view the stunning skyline of the city centre.

Monkeys frolic around the caves, and it is a popular spot for rock climbing enthusiasts. Paintings and scenes of Hindu Gods can also be seen in the Ramayana Cave.

Another statue housed at the Hase-dera Temple in Hase Japan is of Amida, a Buddha who promised rebirth in the Pure Land to all who chant his name in devotion.

It is housed in the Amidado (Amida Hall) beside the Kannondo, it was commissioned by Yoritomo Minamoto (1147-99) on his 42nd birthday, which is considered an unlucky year for men.

Amida Buddha (Amitabha) is approximately 8.5 ft in height.

The Buddha is popularly known as the yakuyoke (good-luck) Amida, and many visitors—especially students facing entrance exams—make a point of coming here to pray.

Between time and eternity, sacred figures fade like echoes in a suspended dimension. Only one remains: Anubis, firm and golden, watches over the souls and guards the threshold where matter becomes memory.

Palais de Chaillot, Trocadero - Paris, France.

This is my second time to do this -- climb on top of the platform where these statues are, and even this time around it was still exciting, especially doing it before sunrise when most of the city was still asleep. I know this is a popular vantage point but I don't remember posting one on my stream, so here you go.

The Palais de Chaillot is above all famous for its spectacular view on the Eiffel tower, facing it on the left bank of the Seine river. It was designed for the 1937 world exhibition which was also the last Paris colonial exhibition.

April 22, 2022 - "Saint Charles Borromeo's Church, locally known under the Latin name of Sint-Carolus Borromeus, was built between 1614 and 1621 on instructions of the Jesuit order. Hardly a square foot was untouched by art works, and there are dozens of 17th century depictions of the church, it apparently being a popular travel destination at the time.

Among the art works, were 39 ceiling paintings by Peter Paul Rubens (his studio, and with assistance of Anthony Van Dyck), Antwerp's foremost and one of the world's most famed baroque painters. Unfortunately they have all gone now, after a fire destroyed them and many other works in 1718. The church was subsequently rebuilt and opened its doors again. Sketches of about half of the ceiling paintings by Rubens have been preserved and are distributed in various art collections around the world.

The church received its present name only in 1803, when the church became a parish church, after the Jesuit order was disbanded by the pope.

The facade of the church is impressive and is higher than the church building itself. It is inspired by the Jesuit's mother church in Rome, the Gesu, which was built some 4 decades earlier. The sumptuous decoration on the facade is partly attributable to Peter Paul Rubens.

The High Altar of the church is most remarkable. Behind the altar is a large chest which contains 4 different canvasses. With a system of pulleys, the paintings can be changed throughout the year, according to the liturgical religious year. Two of the original paintings by Peter Paul Rubens, were requisitioned by Empress Maria Theresia of Austria in 1776.

Impressive art works in the church further include two long rows of wooden confessionals, all with sculptures of angels in front. Wooden panels also depict the lives of two of the Jesuit's order principal saints : Saint Ignatius and Saint Francis Xavier.

The Lady Chapel on the right side of the church, is exuberantly decorated with marble, paintings and sculptures. The chapel is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The painting 'The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary', a copy after Peter Paul Rubens, is displayed behind the altar. Also here, the original painting by Rubens, was 'purchased' by the Empress Maria Theresia in 1776. The ceiling relief in stucco was also designed by Rubens (who seems to have been a profligate designer as well as a painter).

Some parts of the church are only open on certain days (wednesday when we checked lately). They include the Sacristy, which is a repository for textile hangings and vestments from the 17th and 18th centuries, and the Lace Room.

The tower of Saint Charles Borromeo's Church is not visible when you enter from the main facade. It is located along Sint-Katelijnevest, and dates from around 1617 to 1721. The splendid tower has only recently been restored.

Saint Charles Borromeo's Church offers outstanding baroque architecture, outside and inside. It is unfortunate that so many buildings have been built adjacent to the church, preventing it being viewed unhindered." It seems every year the owners of the Americana (who also own the Grove) start pushing Christmas a little earlier. The workers were already putting up the fences that would hide (more or less) the work being done to set up Santa's House. It doesn't seem that long ago that new grass was put into place on the lawn. Now it's going to be torn up again very soon.

One of the Fab 50 statues of Joe Gardner. I felt that the dimming of the background helped show off the statue as well as reminded me of the movie and him being in the zone.

Abandoned Abused Street Dogs.

Left home real early and arrived

at The Monkey Temple early.

By the numbers -----------

Left home at 5:12 AM.

Arrived at the temple

just after 6:33 AM .....

The Tube was already loaded

with goodies so no need to do

the reload routine.Camera is set

and we, Mama & Rocky, take off.

The new airless soft tires made

next to no noise as we traverse

the tree roots, rocks and bushes.

Crossed the broken walking bridge

and we're now on the way to the nuns.

Did the usual hand-off with nurse nun,

picked-up Little Mickey and proceeded

on to The Spirit House. Kibble and small

pieces of chopped hot-dogs are handed

out to all three dogs. Monkeys created a

little bit of chaos but Rocky put an end to

most of that real quick. His eye is better ;-).

In the hand-off package was eye medicine.

Everyone except Miss Gibbon was fed and

cared for. Forgot to fill the small blue tube

that holds the puppy kibble for Miss Gibbon.

She's been carrying around her moody bag

lately and "Homey Don't Play That Game !"

I've an idea about reconstructing the small

blue tube with a plunger to force the kibble

out so she won't be biting and stealing it !

In this photo DJ & Angel Eyes are barking

at Mama & Rocky as they sit on the turf

line that separates the Hooligans

property from Mamas turf.

When I was approaching DJ and Angel Eyes

came running up to me full of unbridled

excitement.Barking, singing an dancing.

Soon as they saw Rocky come out of

the bushes they ran as fast as they

could back onto their rock wall.

Rocky just shook his big head and said

something about The Hooligans are

nothing more then amateurs ;-)~

I might have forgotten some stuff but

doesn't matter cuz I can't remember

what it was I have forgotten anyway.

A photo of the tube from the last week

will be added into the comment section

so you can compare the new from the old.

Zhulin Buddhist Temple. Ottoway.

Although it is not directly recorded the first Buddhists probably arrived in Australia from China in 1851/52 with the news of the gold discoveries. The gold fields, especially in Victoria, had early temples and shrines and a couple still exist from the 1850s but Buddhist temples are relatively new in South Australia. Buddhism generally follows national lines in South Australia with Chinese, Laotian and Vietnamese temples but European Australians have followed Buddhist philosophy and practices since the 1950s. Immigrant groups of South East Asian since the 1970s have expanded the Buddhist communities in SA. The essential Buddhist message is about the nature of the human mind and the inner precious liberation that can be achieved through mediation, tranquillity, insight and after much progression and study nirvana. There are three main theological groupings of Buddhism in Australia generally but not exclusively following Indian/Tibetan, Chinese or Vietnamese/Laotian groupings. The Vietnamese Buddhist temple was established in 1978; the Laotian Buddhist temple was established in 1992; the Khmer Buddhist temple was established in 1989; the Sri Lankan Buddhist temple was established in 1996; the large Chinese Buddhist temple at Sellicks Hill was established in 2015; the Tibetan Buddha House was established around 1983. The Zhulin Buddhist temple was established in 1994 especially for the Chinese community. It is named after the world famous Mount Zhulin Buddhist temple in Taiwan. This ancient temple is known for its turned up corners on the roof and several layers of roofs and red pillars. This Mahayana Buddhism originated in northern India and was adopted by Han Chinese between 200 BC and 200 AD. In Chinese folklore all temples should have a pagoda and the Zhulin Temple at Ottoway is working on that right now. Most Buddhist temples are associated with a monastery for the training of its priests.

From the Hearst Castle facebook account: "Two gilded bronze statues sit atop elaborate marble fountains in front of Casa del Mar, the largest of the 3 guest houses. Both are by German sculptor Gustav Adolf Daumiller and were purchased directly from his studios in New York in 1925".

The Farnese Hercules (Italian: Ercole Farnese) is an ancient statue of Hercules, probably an enlarged copy made in the early third century AD and signed by Glykon, who is otherwise unknown; the name is Greek but he may have worked in Rome.

Like many other Ancient Roman sculptures it is a copy or version of a much older Greek original that was well known, in this case a bronze by Lysippos (or one of his circle) that would have been made in the fourth century BC.

A gold statue near Buckingham Palace in London, England, UK.

This is either a good shot or a bad one, depending on if you were expecting the water jets to shoot up. Maybe I wanted it this way, but it looks odd without the water surrounding the statue. But, hey, the lantern looks good, along with the other lights.
