“I was born poor and without religion, under a happy sky, feeling harmony, not hostility, in nature. I began not by feeling torn, but in plenitude.”

GOING HOME – SOPHIE ZELMANI
I AM
I am born free
in a field with wild flowers in my hair
the sounds of nature first to touch my ears
the softness and warmth of the earth beneath me
first sight the bluest sky filled my eyes
and coloured them for all my life
the sun shone bright and hot that day
bathed my hair and always stayed
corn-coloured tresses and cornflower blue eyes
wild and messy with no earthly ties
my Dad delivered me you see
the only ones there were my Mum and me
small bunnies in the fields
small birds on the wing
the joy of my life
to them was everything
later I would run barefoot and free
laughing pure and clear
climbing all the trees
but then their lives both ended suddenly
and it seemed that time stood still
and everything went dark for me
and darker still when I fell ill
it's hard to understand the complexities of life
for some it's a walk in the park
for others endless grief and strife
with no flickering flame to light the dark
but all I can say about the mysteries that surround me
is that even through the darkest; wildest storms
it's still possible to find the light
it's still possible to break free
the heavy shroud I wore
too big for my young shoulders
slipped and fell and with it tore
the melancholy mantel
some days are still seeped in sad memories
but mostly I'm ok
I hope you'll better understand me
and why I disappear and hide some days
I need that time of quiet reflection
I need to reconnect
with nature and all it's miracles
that calm my mind and balm my soul
the healing nature of it's powers
that brings me back so bright and bold.

Relieved at catching the bus home on this very cold late afternoon. The bus passes the town centre and I could not resist a picture of my normal life.
There is an advantage in being unable to walk as quickly as Ray and Sylv: I get to shoot different views.
Thank you so much for visiting my photostream, for comments and faves.
Who's gonna drive you home tonight?
Oh, you know you can't go on thinking nothing's wrong
Who's gonna drive you home tonight?
Dublin Bus with its current high profile recruitment campaign of both drivers & mechanics, somebody has to do the driving home tonight.
People observe the colors of a day only at its beginnings and its ends, but to me it's quite clear that a day merges through a multitude of shades and intonations, with each passing moment. A single hour can consist of thousands of different colors. Waxy yellows, cloud-spat blues. Murky darknesses.

An evening's photoshoot in the city with Longstrattonian. Tried the Lumix out at night properly for the first time (not overwhelmed with the results) I need to try night shots more often with it.
Stopped on the way home to take this shot of the moon over Alkmaardermeer with my phone. It's not perfect, but I thought it was pretty nice
Our family is grateful for these members of the military who performed this tribute for my dad. We are also grateful to the veteran who did a wonderful job of playing taps.
This frame was my second option in this theme. I had a hard time deciding with one to post. Hope you like this one too.
Happy Family Day

A World Cup is never quiet the same when your native team goes out, but so far Brazil 2014 has been FABULOUS!
HMM!
Coming home when you feel it is where you belong is the most awesome feeling ever
The embrace you get
Both of the loved ones,
but also of the environment
The well known stuff is all where it should be
Well except if she has been doing her redecorations
Sometimes it's small stuff she has done
Sometimes it's more obvious
But it is Home
Welcome home darling!
Now I can feel complete in another way than I normally am
When you are here I am with my soulfriend and that gives the extra completeness to life
I'm truly blessed to have you in my life 💖💖💖
Doing time inside all week long at the job, now sentenced to see this beautiful sky while traveling home....I don't know about these travelers but I can handle this type of sentence just fine:)
18th August 2017:
The local church at St. Quay-Perros.
Graham and I both went to the supermarket this morning and while he did the shop I went for a quick walk round.
I took this from the bus on our way home, so excuse the reflections!
I shall have to get there one day, but maybe better to wait until after the silly season has ended, when the local bus is free again.
It looks delightful and even more so from the website I've found about it.
Sorry it's in French, Wikipedia could only offer very little info compared to the link:

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :O)
A brisk evening at Smiths Beach, Phillip Island. Some friends going home after fishing during low tide.
Snails are nocturnal creatures and spend their nights grazing on my lawn. Their eyes are at the end of their top "antennas", if you zoom in you can see that I try to get their eyes in focus like you would with any portrait. Because of this project, I no longer like eating shrimp and all uncooked meat is now harder for me to deal with. I have had several people mention that they used to despise snails but after viewing my images they see them differently now, in a more positive light.

Bright bright light
Bright light that's got me
Bright bright light that's got me home "
