Pistols Of Dawn are good friends of mine, we finally got a chance to go do a shoot, probably not as high concept as I wanted but hey plain and simple, jump a few fences, take the shots, and here we are. The boys have just put a few demo’s up on their Myspace you can go check them out here

and alternatively feel free to stalk my life here

DDR, Xbox 360 Kinect style. This is live gameplay depicted here, by the way. As you can see, you are placed in the game. The two people playing at the time I took these shots happened to be cosplayers, so at a very brief glance you might not notice that you've got live humans being edited in with the game's sprites on the fly. Of course, once you look at the image for more than a split second, you'll notice that the images of the human characters is highly pixelated (due to the low resolution of the Kinect system's cameras), but there you go. Do you want to see yourself in a DDR game or not? Cause it's the Kinect way for now or the highway.

So, you're probably quite a ways down the interstate by now, but I'll tell you how DDR Kinekt (not the official title) works, anyway. On the virtual stage are two computer-generated dancers. You try to follow their moves as best you can (presumeably memorising the dance moves so you can perform more fluidly in the future). At times, a swiping line will suddenly illuminate over the computer characters to indicate how you should move your own hands in the next few seconds, or a silohette will appear near your own sprite showing what sort of pose you should adopt in the next second or so. I say 'pose,' but everything happens very, very fast, and it's filled with upper and lower body movements. If you like DDR,or at least the dancing aspect of it, you should love this. With the old DDR, you just tried to move your feet to hit whatever arrows you saw on screen using the giant floor control pad. Sure, you could practice and rehears and integrate upper body movements to look slick, but if you were like most people, you probably just flailed around trying to hit those damn arrows. Now you can actually see on screen what the hell you're supposed to be doing *and* you actually have to do it. Of course, you'll be doing basically Japanese bara-bara moves, which, unless you're a 16-year-old girl, will make you look like an idiot, but then, how's that different from any other DDR game? Looks like tons of fun.

RSPB Feed the Birds Day - some shots from taking time out to feed the birds, go do the same!

Stop pretending to be French.

(This is ironic, because my 365 is numbered in French. But it is even MORE ironic, because I actually have traces of french in my blood... I do believe I'm 1/5th French, according to my dad.)

Haha, second day of Winter Break. It was really good too.

I woke up kind of late, but my mom kicked me and my sister out the door to go do some Holiday shopping. We stopped at Accuprint first so I could get some prints made for the very vacant walls in the house. Holly was working today, and it was really nice to talk to her for 25 minutes while she made around 40 prints for me. I miss talking to Holly. Sadly, she is going to school at Red Rocks next semester, so I'm not going to see a whole lot of her unless I go into Accuprint a lot.

After we got my prints made, my sister and I went to the thrift store behind Staples, where she bought an ugly sweater for an Ugly Sweater party she's going to. When she was done, we drove down to Park Meadows (where there was literally NO parking,) and shopped for the family. That ate up a good three hours, so it was about 5:30 when we got back home. I quickly jumped in the shower and into a t-shirt and jeans so to make it to the Stagedoor show. Tonight was closing night, so yes, it was a big deal.

The show was quite good too; I brought Kingsley, and he definitely enjoyed it, especially because we had front row seats. After the show, all of the actors came out and greeted the audience, so I got to congratulate Parker on another killer leading role, and a job well done :) I also got to see a lot of my College friends, such as Sean, The McPee twins, Jenna, Carl, Stephen, and Chelsea. I love them :)

When I got home, I hung up the prints around the house, and right now, it is 1:21 A.M., and I am quite tired haha. See you all tomorrow!!

Got to go do some training in a friends supercub, first time in a tail dragger

I've always been intrigued by this small cave on the extreme northwest side of the rock (not to be confused with the large cave on the south to west side). This is as close as I've been able to get to it, and can't really tell how far in it goes. Does anyone out there know? I'm sure there must have been times when the sand has built up to it, but I've yet to see that happen.

Our big wooden desk that lives in the box room. It'll be the baby's room from October though, so it's got to go! Does anyone want it? It measures 152cm across, 77cm deep and 78cm high. The drawers are really spacious; the bottom ones are a bit deeper than the others. It's fairly scratched and scuffed, but just needs a good polish really.

I just had to build one like everybody else. No diffuser yet and the ring in the pupils is far from optimal, but lightingwise I still think it does what it's supposed to do. Took it vertically but I like the horizontal tight crop better.

Received my Colosseo letterpress poster from Cameron Moll

A few of the corners are a little bent. Would have liked it perfect for the price paid, but it is still beautiful

Thanks to the amazing care Cameron has, I will be receiving a replacement. If you didn't pick one of these up, go do it now. The quality and detail is superb.

Out the back of Knox city, where I had parked to go do some shopping, I saw this guy poking his head around the corner. Almost seemed like he was ready to escape for the evening.

The remodel is almost finished. Once had three rooms now one open space. Duct work for a swamp cooler for the pizza joint downstairs lay behind this since no place else for it to go. Does offer some wall space for those of us that need it for doing inversions.

So since it's freezing in my house and too cold to go do proper work in my basement studio, i decided to start my idea to make a series of yokai ( japanese style monster) drawings since i can do this from the comfort of my warm bed. I'm going to offer them as prints and print on demand t-shirts..nothing fancy. Started reading a book about yokai and felt like drawing some.

He will be colored with simple flat tones though hopefully it won't look like im swiping Chasmosaur's shit too much!

This is a tengu, a race of mountain goblins that are usually depicted wearing priests' garments. They are more commonly known by the red face/long nose variety but there are bird faced ones like this dude. For more info on them check out:

Estupenda mañana. Disfrutadla. Cuidemos nuestro entorno.

Great morning. Enjoy it. The sport great option. For all ages, as shown in my example photo. Anywhere. Whoever does not have the privilege to enjoy a sunrise and athletically, it will in a pine forest or a snowy mountain. The important thing is to value those little moments and privileges we have every day, and not because they are always appreciated. Since the saying goes do not know what we have until we lose it. We must care for our environment.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Dale Earnhardt Jr. had his practice session at Daytona cut short by a wreck Saturday afternoon, but left Daytona International Speedway feeling good about what transpired over the three-day test.

Earnhardt Jr. had an eventful final hour of practice as he was involved in an accident and then got into the car of Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jimmie Johnson.

Although their teams share the same shop, Johnson’s car had different features, Earnhardt Jr. said.

“They’re built differently and they wanted me to drive Jimmie’s to see what I thought about it,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “They’re absolutely two different types of cars and they drive differently.

“There’s some plusses and minuses to both. But Jimmie’s car was real nice.”

Overall, Earnhardt Jr. was happy with the test. He had been a vocal critic of the two-car tandem style of racing at restrictor-plate tracks. Fans apparently agreed, and over the three days of testing, NASCAR changed the restrictor-plate package – the plate, grille opening and radiator water release valve – three different times to try and cut the gap in speed from the two-car draft to the traditional pack racing.

Drivers tested in a pack for several laps Friday afternoon and then for a short time Saturday until the accident, in which Juan Pablo Montoya slid into Earnhardt Jr., who spun and hit Jeff Burton.

Earnhardt Jr. said he did not feel the cars were unstable drafting in a pack and was comfortable at the 205 mph speed drivers posted in the pack draft Friday before a decrease in the restrictor plate Saturday.

“I was real comfortable,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “When we had the accident [Saturday], they were three-wide for several rows there in that pack and I was just sitting there watching.

“You couldn’t go do anything because they were all three-wide so I was just kind of sitting there. I don’t know what happened in that deal but somebody ran over us.”

NASCAR made progress in trying to encourage pack racing, Earnhardt Jr. said.

“I don’t know if anybody can really predict what is going to happen or what we need or what package will provide what they want,” Earnhardt Jr. said following the test.

“NASCAR did a lot of changing, made a lot of effort to learn and we learned a lot. I’m sure they’ll take all that [data] back. I don’t think we’re even close to finished fooling with it. I think they’re still thinking about switching things around.”

Earnhardt Jr. said all the changes make it difficult to evaluate how well the test went for his Steve Letarte-led team.

“The hard part about it as far as us testing is we don’t really know how to test or what to test until we have a final understanding of what the package is,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “But the preparation and the extra stuff that you might bring down for Speedweeks is doubled.

“Steve was talking about we might have to bring a whole separate hauler just in case this changes or this changes and you have got everything together [to make changes].”

I was blown away by the interior. Besides many other great features it had feature walls made of thousands of Mother of Pearl buttons. The effect was great and I just had to take a picture.

I mixed Ranger Copper & Distress frayed Burlap embossing powders and Adirondack Moss & Stampin' Stuff Emerald green for the tree and leaves carefully sprinkled over the embossing paste and heated with Heat Tool. So neat - parts of the leaves came through with the white embossing paste bubbling up, the distress embossing powder gives the tree that sandpapery feel. love this technique!

I skipped all of Day 2 cards so I could do this one first! Now gotta go do Day 2!

Even though I try I can’t let go

Something in your eyes

Captured my soul

And every night

I see you in my dreams

You’re all I know

I can’t let go

Do you even realize the sorrow

I have inside

Everyday of my life

Do you know the way it feels

When all you have just dies

I try and try to deny that

I need you

But still you remain on my mind

Pelican Against Blue Sky. Pacific Coast, California. May 30, 2011. © Copyright G Dan Mitchell - all rights reserved.

A low flying pelican passes overhead against clearing coastal fog and blue sky.

This pelican was part of a very large group that flew directly over my position along the Pacific Ocean coast north of Santa Cruz, California. One of the main tricks to photographing these wonderful bird - though not the only trick - is figuring out where to photograph them. They are very common along the coastline of "my" part of California, the area from just north of San Francisco south to the Big Sur area below Monterey and Carmel. But in many places you'll watch them fly past too far out over the water, or below you such that they don't make easy photographic targets. But by spending a bit of time along the coast, I've begun to understand their patterns a bit, and I now know a few places where I'm fairly likely to find them flying very close or even directly overhead.

We had spotted this group along the top of a bluff where they often fly by as they coast along on the updrafts from the onshore winds. (One thing I've never been able to figure out is that the almost always are flying from south to north. Are they taking the train back south so that they can repeat the trip? Do they just keep going? Do they only make on flight? It is a mystery to me!) We had just missed photographing this large flock as they came by, but I had a hunch that they might come down close to the water at a location just north where the road drops to a beach where a creek enters the ocean. So we headed there, parked the car, and a few minutes later we saw the flock appear around the cliffs to the south and descend toward the beach. As they came to our position they began to turn inland and climb towards the next bluff, and as this happened the birds flew directly over my position.
