I was so thrilled we got a chance to see Mono Lake before we left. We weren't there long enough but it was incredible to see and touch. That water is crazy...feels so slippery! Definitely wash your hands soon after if you dip them in the water! The water is about three times more saltier than the ocean!

- Day Six -

Day five was full of whitewater rafting, eating, taking long rides searching for wildlife, and enjoying our last full day in Montana.

Although day six was busy and departure was upon us, we did some last minute exploring. We revisited some old places and stumbled on new gems as well. Firstly, we drove down to Whitefish Lake where it all began.

We took the same path where we first saw Montana water. The woods and the shoreline felt more similar and special this time around. Instead of coming, we were going. It was a special goodbye, considering I did not have my camera with me most of the first day (it was charging back at the lodge!) Every breath and step I took reminded me of a few days prior, except this time, I was reminiscing on everything we had seen and how wonderful of a trip we had. Whitefish Lake was a beautiful introduction to what were were about to experience and it was a very fitting outro of our time spent here.

- Day Two -

We left the highest point, Clingman's Dome, and continued downwards onto the winding, curving roads. Back onto 441, we followed Oconaluftee River southward. We pulled over along the way to admire (and photograph!) creeks, meadows full of wild flowers, and wildlife. We spotted numerous elks roaming.

We ended up getting "lost" down an odd little road full of small houses, domestic animals, and bizarre decorations; we easily turned back on track. Continuing south towards Cherokee NC, we made our next stop Oconaluftee Visitor Center.

There was a museum, a homestead wonderfully preserved, to show how families lived and survived in the mountains 100 years ago. My Mom was delighted and wonderstruck imaging life on the homestead; I tried my hardest to capture that moment for her!

Mini Series: Downtown

This series was photographed in March 2018. Ben, an old friend of mine, was in Maryland for work. He was helping set up and manage a new shop in Columbia. He had never been to Maryland before and asked to meet up. I had never personally been to Ellicott City before, but my parents were married there. They told me it’s a rustic town that I would love photographing, so I asked if Ben would check it out with me. The area we explored sits in the woods with a creek/river running right through main street. We roamed downtown - the bridges, alleyways, abandoned buildings, parks, and the old train station. It was a quiet and mysterious place, like a setting Ben or I used to write about when we exchanged our fictional writing to each other. The town floods frequently and many places were boarded up, but we did find some really neat antique shops and enjoyed exploring this dreary, ominous city.

One of the things I'm going to do more of this year is take more time out to do the things I love the most. Photography and travel

From Mono Lake we took Hwy 120 back towards Nevada. What an incredibly beautiful road! Just as you reach Hwy 6 there is a little town called Benton. It sits at the base of the White Mountains, an impressive mountain range with elevations reaching the 14,200' mark that looked particularly dramatic with the impending snowstorm. Benton is a sweet little place with hot springs, lots of history laying around and even a little bed and breakfast. We would like to come back one day and stay a night. (or two..)

First time to Singapore! Went with coworker Sterling.

We flew 767-300 SFO-NRT on Delta (yes Delta used to fly this route!) then Delta 777 NRT-SIN.

This was the first time I took a trip 'around the world.' All the flights were back-to-back with the exception of Singapore, which I stayed for two days.
