When we drove past, the female Wood Duck was hiding in the ditch with the ducklings, while the male stood on the side of the road and threatened us. I got out and approached as close as I could without them taking off. After a while the ducklings left the ditch where they had been grazing and went to join their father.

Captured this with three RAW shots at -2..0..+2 EV. Digital blending in Photoshop CS6. I increased the overall saturation with Hue/Saturation in Photoshop. Curve adjustment to increase the overall contrast. 1 layer mask in soft light mode at 50% gray, using brush tool to lighten and darken some areas of the image, to bring out details. Topaz DeNoise to reduce noise. Topaz Clarity for additional boost in color and contrast.

Historic Village of Shirakawa-gō ( a UNESCO World Heritage Site)
Shirakawa-go (Shirakawa Village) is a Japanese mountain settlement in what was once considered a wild and unexplored region. Because of the area’s natural environment, with high mountains and heavy snowfall, interaction with neighboring regions was limited. However, this also created the conditions for the development of unique cultural practices and lifestyles. Now registered as a World Cultural Heritage site.

"Bing-Yu-Go" or the "Icy Ravine"
I first Visited here in 1999, a beautiful relatively unspoiled area near Zhonghe in North East China.
This Visit was so disappointing the Chinese had built this huge concrete dam and flooded the valley, no longer beautiful, but an insult to the eye.
its now an expensive place to visit and its tacky
my advice is TO AVOID this place
