This is probably not a picture you think of when you think of Iceland, but as I’ve already mentioned in a few captions of my previous uploads, we had unusually good, bright and sunny weather. On this day we were very lucky and were able to see some super-cute puffins on the cliffs of Dyrhólaey. Afterwards, we were exploring the lighthouse, took a few snapshots of the stone arch and then walked down towards the black sand beach with the typical viewpoint onto the Reynisdrangar sea stacks. I even tried a long exposure which didn’t come out sharp due to the strong wind up there, and so I was - apart from the puffins - a little “disappointed” with the photo yield at this pretty epic location. Sure, we could have stayed there until sunset, or we could have stayed an extra night to shoot sunrise, but since our itinerary was packed, we decided to return to our camper van and continue east.
On our way back, I noticed this beautiful glitter on the water in the distance and so I got my camera (which I had just put in my bag) out again and took a few quick shots. Back at the computer, I have to say that it was definitely worth it, because I really like the super-minimalist composition with the blue sky and the glitter of the water that keeps disappearing into the valleys of the small waves. I hope you like it too!
It was late in the day, the air was heavy with forest fire smoke, and the light was poor - but there was an interesting patch of light coming through the haze onto Lake Superior, which prompted me to lift my camera. The result was rather muddy looking but that sunlight reflecting on the waves made it look like glitter and warranted a closer look.
