This afternoon (the 2nd of January, 2009) we had Girlfriend "put to sleep". On Monday we got an x-ray of her chest which showed a large mass in one of her lungs. We put her on medication, but she just started rapidly going downhill, and stopped eating and drinking two days ago. We think that she was not long for this world, and that she was getting no joy out of life any more, so we decided to send her on her way, so to speak. We are very, very sad, of course, and she will be missed greatly. We suspect that she would have had a longer life if she had not been an outdoor cat for the first 9 years of her life, but one can never really know. We will miss her tan paw and her tortitude... Girlfriend was 13 years old. God bless her.
