The Girlfriend will actually posing willingly for some photographs; in fact in this case she actually asked me to photograph her. I was shocked; nervous. How should I take advantage of this change of heart? What lighting? Poses? Do I have a memory card in the camera?
This was one of my favorite shots from that night.
On a somewhat related note, several folks have asked or told me rather; that I need to quit calling her "The Girlfriend" since we are now engaged. No, no I don't. It has become a term of endearment for us. She calls me "Boyfriend" or "The Boyfriend". We've been doing it for almost 6 years now, I think it will be hard habit to break and one we don't want to let go of.

In a small bakery in France, in the Provence-region, we were buying some bread for lunch. When I saw this large cookie, I had to buy a couple of them. Tasted great, and turned out to make a funny portrait.

I had to process this image quite a bit since the original is pretty dark. Some artifacts are visible since I am an unskilled and lazy post processor. However I really like this picture (probably because of the fun I had when I took it!) and so I decided to upload it anyway.
I surprised the girlfriend with a road trip down to my old stomping grounds in Springfield, IL. Lady Antebellum was performing as one of the main acts at the Sangamon County Fair and since we are both big fans, I surprised her with the show. Needless to say, she loved it.
As for shooting, well... it was definitely a blast. Standing within the first two rows for most of the show, I was able to pop off a good number of shots. Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley are two of the most entrancing performers to watch and I think the images definitely show that. The entire band is electric and I tried to capture some of that emotion as I shot.
