My first attempt at cloning unwanted elements from an image, the original is in my uploads for today, removed the lights and power lines from the image ,you can tell in areas where i painted over a little, but not bad for a first attempt

Experimenting with layer masks

Yesterday I discovered that learning Gimp isn't going to be as easy as I

had hoped... I'm having a little difficulty finding the tutorials online

as I was hoping to find. None-the-less, I was able to get some utility

out of it: I discovered the primitives of working with layers, paths,

the wacom tablet, the different panes in the application, a little about

file formats, image transparency, colors, patterns and lines, some of

the drawing and painting tools, and a little more... and produced my

first image... so I'm off to a good start!

This is my first try to do a cartoon sketch using Gimp. Since that I was in need of a cool model, possibly not as close to be killed by, I stole a portrait from the most pleasant contact I've found so far, Matuko Amini.

Here it is the original picture.

GIMP post-processing of this shot revisited. This is how the black-and-white should have looked (maybe?)

... remember Gimp is the FREE artware.

I GIMP'd it. Monochrome conversion using the Channel Mixer filter, then colourised it - not quite sepia, I think - a bit too golden for that.

The heavily darkened corners isn't an effect, it's the Nikon 55-200 VR DX lens - it darkens a bit at the corners naturally, so when you pump the contrast up, it makes it look much worse. I kind of like the effect for stuff like this, though.

I am currently undertaking an online course on GIMP photo editing. This image was based on the subject of compositing.

This image is made up of approximately 11 layers, but only 3 images. All the layers go into shadows, reflections, colour gradings and the original 3 images.

It is ok, but I think I still have a lot to learn, but I don't expect that I will have to do much compositing in what I like to do.

Taken next to our RV in the park. This roadrunner seems quite comfortable around the park, often perching up in the roofs of the small sheds.

Taken during our visit to Malta, a first for us. This is a fascinating port city, full of history.

I followed a tutorial to create this gimp brother. It was very hard for me to do,
