A view of the upper part of the Royal Albert Hall in London, which I took right at the end of Steve Hackett's recent 'Genesis Revisited' gig there.
My thanks are due to Steve and Jo Hackett for arranging my Access All Areas pass. :-)

I came across a quote from Ansel Adams recently which sums up photography for me (in either analogue or digital eras):
"The negative is the score, the print is the performance."
OK, for negative read RAW file...and JPG works as well as print...but that pretty much defines the relationship.
Why do I mention this here?
Well, this is a shot of Corinne Bailey Rae at The Queen's Hall in Oct 2010. I had tried working on it before...but was never convinced by the results. It's shot at 12800 ISO and there was a fairly harsh purple light on her.
Tonight I happened to look at it again. My general rule of thumb is that if colour isn't helping an image, it's just a distraction and ripe for processing as a Black & White shot.
So, that was stage 1. However, this still needed quite a bit of work. The improved RAW processing in Photoshop 6 helped...and I dabbled with adjustment layers.
Personally, I'm rather happy with the final results.
It's always an idea to revisit some of your near misses. There may just be gold in them thar RAW files. :-)

Bunratty Castle e folk park.
a presto
Friendly beloveds, I go to Paris for two weeks… I will be a little absent on Internet...
ciao a tutti
First day of school and the harbor is quiet as it slips into Indian summer. A few shots from this morning's walk....and shoot...and walk a few steps and shoot again. The fog rolled in and it then it rolled out almost as quickly. Made for an unusual sight of the fog against the bright reflections.
Since I broke my foot, I'm a tad bored, so I needed a break from going back through thousands of archive shots I never looked at. This isn't my normal thing, but once an awhile an abstract clears the mind. This was originally an HDR fish shot. I used Filter Forge to create the abstract. So the final really doesn't have much to do with fish, but I kind of liked the Giger like surreal images (definitely think I see a monkey in there..) that came out. Ok, enough of that back to the archives (groan..). Below are the original and the color version, silver efex used for the conversion.

Honky Tonking Country band from America at The Cluny, Newcastle April 2023 full set www.harrisonaphotos.co.uk/Music/Jenny-Dont-and-The-Spurs/
I went to a gig/dance last night. The band was fair to middling a tad slow for the style of dance we do. Still was a good evening, and I had a good time. This was about midnight when I walked through the door.
I kept seeing myself in the mirror and thinking to myself. Yeah, you look OK tonight.
