Megastylis gigas est une orchidée terrestre connue du Vanuatu et de Nouvelle-Calédonie.
En Nouvelle-Calédonie, elle est répartie sur l'ensemble de la Grande Terre, sur l'île Ouen, sur l'île des Pins ainsi que sur l'île Yandé en Province Nord.
Megastylis gigas est présente en terrains ferrugineux arides, découverts ou broussailleux.
I do hope people enjoy this image because both my camera and I got a soaking by a freak wave during the taking of it. I know Canon strongly recommend a saltwater bath for their equipment each year - or at least that's about how often it happens to me. Astonishingly, a quick wipe dry and the equipment all seems to be working perfectly - phew. Watch this space for the effects of salt and sand over the next few weeks.

Every local photographer has a few shots from this location in Gig Harbor. It's a challenge to try to see it in a new way so I kept this one kind of low key and moody as I remembered the scene after sunset. It is probably not a good calendar candidate without some summer sun. The clear air of winter and some fresh snow comes through for me every time though. The setting sun was at an angle so the polarizer helped out a lot. Thank you for your kind visits and comments my friends! :)

9th August 2019 - I have never felt entirely comfortable with street photography despite the rich tapestries of everyday life that it offers, but gig photography is different. Everyone in a gig is paying attention, whether it be the performers on stage or to their friends and for me personally, i feel it leads to a better more intelligent photo. The lights in a 'Gig' can sometimes be a photography nightmare, but sometimes it can be an absolute dream come true. A little like having the studio of your dreams (and the knowledge to use it..) but not the financial outlay of a pro studio. At this point the pro's will probably rip me to shreds, but I firmly believe that camera ownership is as individual as taste in music
