Last Easter weekend I was with a group of dancers in a castle
in "les Ardennes", near Rochefort, for a relax and dance event,
took some pics of course :
from top to bottom : 3 different aspects of lighting :
1. no sun to be seen, had to add more light to the pic,
2. sun peeping through, adding more direct light to the scene,
3. sun burstng through, setting the ideal conditions for a good photo
what a little sunlight can do for a photo eh ?

On Friday we chose an adventure in Chloe's favorite woods. We were going to Worship Central so we wanted to make sure we gave her some attention before leaving her at home all night. We didn't have loads of time so the walk was only 45 minutes. I don't think she was happy with this, because as soon as she spotted the car (about 10 feet away) she just plopped down in the middle of the road and would not get up! Silly pup!

This was my first attempt at the unique group Get Pushed!!. I've seen some really neat work come out of this group so thought it would be a good learning experience (and no doubt fun).
Here's how Get Pushed works:
You sign up. Others sign up. The group's admins pair you up. You then challenge your partner to shoot something different than he or she ordinarily shoots. And your partner also challenges you. You then have a week to complete the challenge and post the picture to the group pool. With your picture you describe the challenge and how you met it.
For this challenge I was paired up with the talented Driek, here is his challenge for me:
You seem to be really into HDR photography, highlighting the subject against a vibrant scene (the beer, the tractor, Alex). My challenge to you is... to create an image with a similar effect, in a classic looking black & white.
Well, this challenge really got me thinking, I'll admit I've been having a bit too fun with colorful HDR. So I knew I was heading to a small town museum soon and thought I would get some "Classic BW photos". I ended up hearing the challenge as "find an interesting subject against an interesting background and use hdr but in classic BW," So I ended up choosing this shot as my offering.
I also created what I think of as more a standard "classic BW shot" and almost went with it... (you can see it via this link or in my comment below)

This is an oldie but goodie...a video of an American Goldfinch/Pine Siskin pool party in our fountain. I am sad to report the fountain cracked over the winter :(

My husband has recently taught the dog to 'get the cat'. So now all it takes is three words and the dog zones in on the cat and they chase each other around the house.
I seem to be getting the hang of this "footy photography from the stand" lark. Today's CIS Cup Final between Glasgow Rangers and Dundee United produced a number of shots I'm very happy with...particularly of the celebrations after Rangers won. :-)
For most of the match we were outplayed and Dundee United will (rightly) consider themselves unlucky. However...and I can't stress this enough...WE WON (albeit after a penalty shoot out)!
This is Kris Boyd scoring Rangers 2nd goal in extra time, to make the score 2-2. It came as quite a relief. :-)
Kris Boyd has a number of weaknesses in his game...BUT he certainly knows the route to goal. Woo-Hoo!
The West Stand, known commonly as the Skircoat Shed, is the only interesting piece of infrastructure to survive major rebuilding of The Shay, Halifax. Until 1998, when it became all-seater, the stand was half-standing, half-seating. The ground was home to Halifax Town FC between its opening in 1921 and 2008. Football League games were staged at The Shay from 1921 to 1993 and from 1998 to 2002. FC Halifax Town, members of National League North, have played at the ground since formation in 2008. This stand, bought from Manchester City, then playing at Hyde Road, was the leading item of expenditure in the £1,000 spent on laying out the ground, formerly a local authority rubbish tip.
Rebuilding of The Shay removed all traces of the 400-yard (370m), steeply banked speedway track used by the Halifax Dukes team between 1948-51 and 1965-85. The starting gate was in front of this stand. Halifax RLFC have shared the Calderdale Council-owned Shay since 1998, when they sold for £1.5m their Thrum Hall ground, on the other side of town, to the Asda retail chain.
Capacity is 14,061 (5,830 seats). The record attendance for a Halifax Town game (indeed, the biggest crowd ever to be accommodated at the ground) was set on February 14th, 1953 when 36,885 watched the Shaymen lose 3-0 to First Division Tottenham Hotspur in an FA Cup fifth-round tie.
