I watched these two girls seemingly struggle with getting there camera settings right. Finally they got there and started taking images.

It's harvest time, with a definite chill in the air and a certain urgency for Colorado animals to get ready for winter. This little chipmunk was busy gathering seeds, no doubt to add to its cold weather cache.

Thanks so much for your views, faves and comments!

Today's cold and wet weather was good for visiting Tower Hill Botanical Garden, where there are two large orangeries. I should've taken note of this plant's name.

I moved closer and zoomed in to get this view of the jacaranda tree at the north end of the USC campus.

I got the idea from the opening credits of the tv series Dexter, where you see the morning ritual of Dexter ending with pulling his t-shirt on.

Okay...a couple more shots of my new friend. I went out yesterday morning to see if I could get some shots of the kits. They were nowhere to be found but mom is starting to get a little friendly. Going out this morning to give it one more shot ; )

Forgive the not so nice background of this picture but I was playing with Isabel yesterday and suddenly the light was perfect. I love how she looks so real here!!

I changed her eyes and wig and they feel right. She's also starting to call herself Ema. Not sure yet about the clothes but we're getting there.

Getting over the flu and hopped up on NSAIDs, but look at those colors!

Sometimes the easy way is the best. Sometimes you have to get to that easy way by going the hard one.

I took this photograph only about 50 metres away from the trail. but I went completely around it to search for that angle. It would've been a nice half day hiking trip, but we were on a hike anyway and we had to find a proper place to sleep. We did not, btw.

Here is Mrs Wattie getting out of the bath.

Da it.wikipedia.org:

From en.wikipedia.org:

Lake Albano (Italian: Lago Albano or Lago di Castel Gandolfo) is a small volcanic crater lake in the Alban Hills of Lazio, at the foot of Monte Cavo, 20 kilometres (12 mi) southeast of Rome. Overlooking it is Castel Gandolfo, where the Pope has a villa.

It was known to the Roman Empire as Albanus Lacus. In its vicinity stood Alba Longa.

The lake is the deepest, about 170 m (560 ft), in Lazio. It is about 3.5 km (2.2 mi) long by 2.3 km (1.4 mi) wide, formed by the overlapping union of two volcanic craters, an origin indicated by the ridge in its center, which rises to a depth of 70 m (230 ft).

It hosted the canoeing and rowing events of the 1960 Summer Olympic Games that were held at Rome. The lane marking system developed for these events is commonly referred to as the Albano buoy system.

A photographer at Roosevelt Point, Grand Canyon North Rim, Arizona.

I've always been the quiet type. Good at observation and blending in. That's me!

Uncomfortable with, and thus avoiding the spotlight or stage of any kind - I thrive in shadows.

A shade loving plant.

That is why its puzzling I allow myself to be pushed on occasion. This hotel pool scene is an example.

Nora in public, in daylight, in a costume that hides little. That's not pushing boundaries - its totally ignoring them!

Funny - once having the attention of an audience, I feel compelled to perform - or at least act the part. My motivator is fear of disappointing others. If the audience expects to see a bathing beauty poolside - I feel it necessary to act like one.

In this photo I'm glancing to an onlooker to gauge his satisfaction with my performance. I've got his attention and he's not good at being subtle. However its just not clear how he feels so I appear perplexed.

Some might say "Silly Nora - just be yourself. Don't worry about what others think."

But what if my purpose in life is to help others? Perhaps my performances, designed to meet expectations, are a way I am being myself. After all - no one is forcing me.

Why do we do what we do?

York Races - Thursday 22nd August 2024

Due to the H02's engine (GP38-2 5637) experiencing a mechanical failure while drilling Royal Foods the day before, a rescue engine needed to be sent down to complete the work and tow the 5637 back to Dover. Normally when NS has no power available an M&E unit will pinch hit for the day, but due to them being busy with weighing a passenger car in Port Morris the only available engine with cab signals was the Dover work engine.

Pictured is the H02 drilling Royal Foods on the Totowa Industrial with GP40-2 4300 and GP38-2 5637. It has been quite some time since the 4300 has pulled a freight train.

After tying on at Essex, the helpers start to work on another assist up to the summit.

Tammy is almost ready to enjoy some summer fun. I'm going to do another day or two of acne cream on her torso belt line stains. They are really light now, but I'll try a little more. I'll probably just let her hair dry in the sleeve without curling it, but I may try a few rollers.
