When I was young the answer was "Poke him in the eye!" But these days I suspect traffic and parking are enough to make a Maltese very cross indeed. Around Valletta and Sliema traffic is horrendous and parking no better, both a real nightmare. For a change there was nothing in front of this garage, so I was able to get my photo. But this was probably the exception to the rule...

Sorry for being MIA lately, I have just moved back to Sydney and I'm only now starting to unpack and get my things sorted. I've started working on my doll display shelf too, which I am very excited about. It does seem, however, that I am short of 5 clover stands. Does anyone have any spare, lol?
My Nanny always called them this..They are from Spiderwort family..The feathery plumage of the stamens are amazing to me..The Bumble Bees love them as well as other nectar gatherers..
Stachys byzantina - lamb's ear
I have grown these from little plug plants that I bought in the Spring. They are doing well and they will eventually go into large containers.
I'm thinking ahead to the Wool Carder Bee coming to County Down. The Wool Carder Bee (Anthidium manicatum) first appeared in Wexford in 2015 and has since been expanding its distribution and is now as far North as North Dublin City. It is a striking and distinctive, big solitary bee.
It may take a few more years to get to us but I will be ready with my big container grown Stachys byzantina.
Where Stachys byzantina is available, it is the preferred source of nesting material for female wool carder bees. The little hairs from the leaves are gathered to line the cavity nests (incuding tubes in human provided bee hotels). The male wool carder bees guard the plants and chase rival males from them so they have access to the females.
Sounds like hours of fun for the human with the camera..

I think this buck is complaining about all the cars stopped on the road even though there are "no stopping" signs everywhere. He's a stickler for the rules. He about fainted when some guy decided to try and feed him some grass...
Our little family is getting settled and enjoying finding new comfortable spots in the house. We still have so much more to do when it comes to moving things from the storage building, unpacking, and sorting/organizing, but everyone is finding their routines. We love them so much.

On this day the We're Here group were visiting the Coiled Knotted Twisted group.
From the garden ... the metal is a cloche frame and the string keeps the shape, otherwise there would be shallow wide poly tunnels, rather than tall narrower ones.
