Archive of Iwona and her little gentleman

As the storm neared it developed this double and then triple stacked shelf cloud. The core was getting mean looking, it was green but had been turned yellow by the reddish setting sun behind the storm. COOL!

On this day the We're Here group were visiting the Coiled Knotted Twisted group.

From the garden ... the metal is a cloche frame and the string keeps the shape, otherwise there would be shallow wide poly tunnels, rather than tall narrower ones.

I went to Chester today to take some "Street Photography" shots for Moore Camera Clubs monthly competition only to find it was The Pride March!! (Not everyone in these photos may be Gay).

A bowl of posole, a stew of pork, hominy and red chile popular in the southwestern US. This is my traditional New Years Day meal, getting a proper start to the year. So this is for 119 Pictures in 2019, #01, "Let's get underway". Also for 2019: One photo each day, 1/365.

Grangran, you are going to need a lot of photos of me. I'm not going to see you for 3 weeks! How well she understands me! Next Monday Elsie is off with mummy, daddy and Roxy to Portugal for 10 days - she has a fortnight for this autumn half-term (because she has a longer school week than most schools) and I shan't be seeing her for 3 weeks . . . so I hope I have enough photos to post the odd one when I'm missing her.

This afternoon Elsie learned her poem for tomorrow, read to Gramps, and I played KerPlunk with her and hangman - which seems to be her favourite game at the moment.

Eastern Ontario Wildlife | Rearing Cranes

Getting family pictures of this pair of mature Sandhill Cranes raising a couple of colts, aka chicks, wasn’t straightforward for they lived and foraged amongst tall reedy freshwater marsh plants. Nonetheless, with patience and time, I managed to get a few shots of the four of them together. None of the images were perfect as they had a habit of mostly rummaging through the wet ground without raising their heads at the same time. Although long in coming, these images captured on 3 and 10 June 2024, largely fulfilled my longing to observe and capture these large and magnificent birds migrating to our region to breed. The all-legs chicks were so cute. The colts were still relying on “billouts” with both parents involved in rearing them.

After setting off two GP20C-ECO's for local service at Delson, the crew is getting back onboard; in a few minutes the train will depart Delson for the Lacolle Sub. At left is the advance station sign for St-Constant, a mile to the north of here. Partly visible at right is Stella-Jones Inc., which produces railway ties and utility poles.

Looking back at the top portion of the John Haynes Ridge trail where we had climbed up from the North Prong Spur trail. You can see evidence of dust in the air, the wind was blowing through the night before and continued with gusts up to 50 mph. Trails were getting scoured of any loose dirt.

Moonrise signalled the end of my dark sky times at Lanyon Quoit- but not before I managed to silhouette the stones against the bright blue sky behind, with the moon casting a shadow towards me.

This pond is located in Princeton, NC The earth has tilted just so for about a week the sunset will be over the end of the pond. This is the only time of year to get this sunset view.

Sunspots are increasing rapidly - seen a few moments before setting from Surrey.

A quick walk at the park and I decided this was as wild as my life gets. ODC: go wild

I can think of easier ways to quench one's thirst on a hot day. Still, these Osprey made it look easy. I hadn't seen them do this before. They would fly low to the flat water and then drag their feet on the surface to drop their head just enough to skim the surface and get a drink. Such fascinating birds!

Foggy days in the city have become my obsession. It never fails to blow my mind waking up to windows that are completely white, top to bottom, left to right. The skyline is gone, and it's just magical.

This is an instagram pic. I attempted to go for a run, but it's like a hurricane out there so I took a few pics instead, went home to grab my cameras, and went back out to take pictures. Of course, birds wouldn't fly anywhere near me then! So the best pic of the day came from my iPhone, haha.
