Our happy couple chose the most public spot possible to carry on, and it was a delight for everyone watching. Swans have such a lovely courting ritual before mating – bowing their heads to each other, swimming side by side for a while so close they’re touching, then both alternately dipping their heads into the water as they continue swimming. When you see this, you know they’re building up to mating – I hoped to take a video but dummy here had it on ‘standby’ instead of ‘record’ but did capture the preliminaries.
A video of Bijan's post-mating flapping glee, ending in a "triumph" was posted just prior to this collage, in my photostream - he was one HAPPY swan!
Still not super happy but better than yesterday, so yey! 8D

Took a few more photos cause yesterday I could not catch the right light, and today I almost missed it again, but I managed to get some decent photos so, gonna share the ones I like the best, a lot of stuff for the resins came back from USA, now I need to clean and see what will be sold and what will be kept 8D

Getting ready for the cocktail party at the Venue at Melrose Arch We stayed at the Wanderers Protea Hotel which was very nice too.
I decided to swap the bottle dynamo setup to the XO-3, since it is my primary bike and I don't intend on getting a dyno wheel for this bike. Seems to work ok, but it's hard to test lighting systems during the long days of summer!
This is from a series I am making for the Washoe County Libraries. The book here is a Western novel, "Shane". look closely at the book cover in the large version... Mother Nature was working with us that day.

One of the gates into the most contaminated areas of Hunters Point Naval Shipyard. This section of the abandoned base is the dirtiest superfund site in America.
In 2004, I was granted night access to the long forgotten and neglected, Hunters Point, Naval Shipyard. Over the course of 5 consecutive full moons I photographed in every corner of the nearly 500 acre facility. Originally opened as a commercial shipyard in 1870, the land was seized by the US military in 1942 and transformed into a vital repair base during WWII. The Navy closed the base in 1974 and most of the area has remained uninhabited ever since.
Stories of widespread radioactive contamination, it's location in one of the most crime-ridden neighborhoods in San Francisco and many locked and patroled gates have kept the base out of the public eye for decades. There are dozens of abandoned buildings. Warehouses, offices and drydock pumphouses, some dating all the way back to 1870. These are some of the oldest buildings in San Francisco, just abandoned and forgotten. Giant gantry cranes stand rusting alongside the broken and flooded drydocks. On the hill above the dockyards stands a residential neighborhood. Built in the 1920s and 30s and seized by the Navy for officers housing, it has also stood abandoned for 30 years. The streets look like a post apocalyptic movie set. The entire relic strewn base is just minutes from the downtown of one of the west coast's largest cities.

We stayed up for the night working at Etisalat in Smart Village, when we decided to leave, Karim fancied a smoke. There was a lot of fog (this picture was about 7 or 8 am), hence the thick smoke.
