House of the Teutonic Order
The House of the Teutonic Order was as a Viennese commandry of the in 1198 in Acre founded Teutonic Order under Duke Leopold VI in the early years of the 13th Century built. The German Order was next to the Hospitallers and the Templars the third major order of knights of the Middle Ages. Duke Leopold gave him the large area between Stephansplatz, Churhausgasse, Singerstraße and blood alley (Blutgasse). Documentarily proven is the existence of the house from 1222. Here resided the Landkomtur (province commanders) of the Bailiwick of Austria, to which the commandries Vienna, Wiener Neustadt, Graz, Friesach and Groß-Sonntag (Krain) belonged. In the great fire of 1258 all the religious buildings except the church tower burned down. In the Middle Ages the complex of the German monastic house was limited to the area along the Singerstraße and Blutgasse. 1309 exchanged the Order part of the land that was needed for the extension of Stephen's cemetery against a neighboring area. The sprawling building had in its, the Stephansplatz adjacent part a large farm yard, which was surrounded by stables. Since 1526 the Head of the Order bore the title "Grand and German master (Hoch- und Deutschmeister)". The famous Viennese house regiment of the same name by the way in 1696 emerged from those Truppenkontigenten (contigent of troops) which the Order for the Turkish war had provided. After the first Turkish siege of Vienna, numerous residents of the suburbs whose houses had been burned were housed here. From 1667 the already dilapidated buildings were torn down with the exception of the church under the Landkomtur (province commander) Gottfried Freiherr von Lambert and provided by Carlo Canevale with three-storey new buildings. As plasterers Jacob Schlag and Simon Alio were mentioned. 1679/82 increased Canevale and Johann Bernhard Ceresola the complex.
Sala terrena. In the years 1720-1725 the German religious house under the Landkomtur Guidobald Starhemberg by Anton Erhard Martinelli was further extended and baroquised. In 1785 it received under Landkomtur Alois Graf Harrach by placing a fourth storey its present shape. In the 18th Century several fires caused major damages. Especially those of 1735 raged for three days, because the urban fighting personnel the entry was denied by the German Order of Knights. Among the prominent residents of the German religious house, which in the 18th and 19th century first also as a guest house of the Order served and then was largely rented, included Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1781), Johannes Brahms (1863 - 1865) and the comedy writer Cornelius Hermann Paul von Ayrenhoff. At the beginning of the 19th Century on Stephansplatz the German Order Cellar (Deutschordenskeller) was opened. Was in its place in the second half of the 20th Century the Restaurant "Deutsches Haus". Since 1809 the German religious house is the residence of the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order. Until then, this one resided in Mergentheim (Baden-Württemberg). From 1864 the Landkomtur Eugen Graf von Haugwitz the church by the cathedral architect from Gran, Josef Lippert, partially had re-gothicised. At that time at the gable above the church windows the already damaged pinnacles and figures were removed. Only the Grand Master coat of arms was left. 1929 the community of the German Teutonic Knights was transformed into a purely religious order. It is one of the very few religious institutions whose top management is not located in Rome. First Grand Master living in Vienna was Archduke Anton Viktor (1804 - 1835).
Church - interior. The House of the Teutonic Order is now a sprawling complex of buildings, grouped around two courtyards. The façade at the Blutgasse is the oldest. Those at the Singerstraße stems from the 17th Century. It represents today the face side of the building. The structuring of the façade by high Baroque inonic giant pilasters followed around 1720. The ground floor is grooved. The two early-Baroque round-arched portals are framed with Tuscan pilasters. The simple façades of the courtyards are held in the style of the 17th Century. On the west side of the pentagonal courtyard on the ground floor walled arched arcades as well as glazed Pawlatschen (access galleries) from the 19th Century on the first floor can be seen. In the courts were various, in 1903 discovered grave plates placed. The ground floor rooms are vaulted, early Baroque lunette barrels and groin vaults prevailing. Among them is the Sala terrene, a with a flat dome vaulted central room which is decorated with illusionistic wall paintings of the late 18th Century. The wall and ceiling frescoes depict mythological scenes and figural ornaments. The hall was once opened to the garden through a portal, but this was later reworked into a window. The tract between Stephansplatz and Blutgasse encloses two two-aisled halls. While the cross vault of the first ones is resting on sturdy pillars is those of the other ones supported by Tuscan columns. In the partially with Rococo and Neoclassical stucco ceilings provided rooms of the first floor are located the library and archives of the Order with documents and books dating back to the 12th Century. Some beautifully crafted wood cabinets were personally manufactured by the Grand and Deutschmeister Archduke Eugen. In the treasure chamber on the second floor are in addition to religious insignias and paintings, inter alia, parts of the Kunstkammer (Art chamber) of the Grand Master Archduke Maximilian III of Austria from the time about 1600 exposed.
Church - Empore. Attention getter and center of the tract at the Singerstraße are the three tall lancet windows of the church of the Teutonic Order. The first chapel already in 1258 fell victim to a town fire. From 1326 it was replaced by Jörg von Schiffering by a new building yet today the core of the Church of the Teutonic Order forming. At that time this one was still but free on three sides. In 1375 it was dedicated to St. Elizabeth. Guidobald Starhemberg 1720/22 the Chapel had remodelled in the Baroque style and flanked at both longitudinal sides by newly built religious houses, by which the three stained glass windows became the central projection of the House of the Teutonic Order. Presumably Anton Erhard Martinelli also was involved in the planning. The quite gothical appearing church facade is a beautiful example of the baroque tinge of the time after the Gothic period of 18th Century, unique in Austria. In the neo-Gothic restoration of 1864/68 the Baroque dome of the narrow and high tower was replaced by a pointed Gothic helmet. After the church was severely damaged in 1945 by bomb hits, followed its restoration 1946/47. Its vaults possess Gothic stucco decorations. In the Baroque reconstruction in the corners eight galleries were built-in, which are accessible from the apartments situated behind. The Dutch polyptych (1520) comes from Mechelen, but was until 1864 in the St. Mary's Church of Danzig. The altarpiece was created in 1667 by Tobias Pock. In the four corners of the room Evangelists Statues by Johann Hutter (1864) replace the missing sculptures by Giovanni Giuliani from the year 1721. On the walls hang several grave slabs, including an epitaph of the scholar Johannes Cuspinian (1515) and the by Jacob Schletterer created grave monument of the Landkomtur Josef Philipp Graf Harrach. Most of the more than eighty coats of arms of German knights, covering the upper part of the walls were designed by Johann Andreas Frank 1722.

I did not wake up for the sunrise - my justification is that I have seen quite enough winter sunrises recently, thank you very much. I did, however, take a lovely walk first thing in the morning and soaked in all the winter sun I could get.
And now, the days get longer. Thank Goddess for that!
What did you do to celebrate the longest night? Did you stay up all night or go to bed early to dream magical dreams? Do you wake up for the sunrise or eat a special meal or is it just another short, dark winter day? What do you miss most about summer?

Photo taken at the Kansas City HPAC Show over the weekend of 6/27-28/09. HPAC stands for High Performance Auto Club which means there were plenty of Mopar factory hot rods in attendance, but all Mopars are accepted with equal affection.
Owner had agreed to special posing in a nearby park. But he slipped away early. So, yes, this original image was all I could get . . . and it had all the usual car show visual garbage in the background. I have no PhotoShop program to do a truly spiffy background alteration for the car. Just ordinary simple photo editing tools and a little time plus inclination. Treatment is far from perfect. But I still think better than including crammed rows of cars and meandering gawkers.
I saw a story a few days ago about explosions on the moon, and I was thinking about that as I attempted to catch it rising just after sunset. It rose above the horizon a little too late for the shot I wanted (with it rising through that pink and purple haze at sunset), but it was still as full as it gets, and colored by the atmosphere between us and it. Apparently it just dawned on scientists that the moon is bombarded every day in the same way the earth is by minute pieces of space debris... Can I get a great big "Duh.."???
Here (on Earth..) we see them as shooting stars, as they burn up in our atmosphere - on the moon, they strike the surface at 30,000 mph, and flash brightly enough to be seen with a decent backyard telescope they say - kinda like striking flint against steel... Turns out being hit by one would be bad news for astronauts..
Huh - you don't say...
You can see the entire story here:

I’ve been looking forward to sharing this session for a while, as it’s such a great “real life” example of family portraits with young toddlers. You know, sometimes they just don’t want to sit still for even one second, and that’s ok!
I really admired the way these parents gently tried redirecting their toddler without a hint of frustration. They were fully aware of the kinds of shots we were getting, and not getting, and it didn’t phase them one bit. You'll have to head over to the photo blog, to see some of my favorite behind-the-scenes parenting photos.
They left me these kind words in their review: "Dani was so professional, thoughtful, and flexible for our family pictures. She made every step of the way easy for us. Even when weather impacted our plans, she thought of creative solutions and made sure we got what we wanted. Highest recommendation!!!"

More on the blog:
Missing. My best friend in the whole world, my other half & my girly soul mate, left for NZ over 2 years ago. We've been each others shadow for almost 40 years and there's a wee empty hole where she should be. Yesterday she found and shared a video of our children playing together some years ago, and it almost snapped my heart in two. Every time I feel this sadness, I look at my beautiful heart decoration that she lovingly personalised with little phrases that only we 'get', and it makes my heart sing that I have her. She might be 11,000 miles away, but I still have her. Distance is something that can never break a true friendship.
So, I have some updates for everyone:
- This is my L-bi. Sort of. I'm selling this face and going to get his sleepy one modded. He doesn't have a body yet so I slapped him on my Lusis's until she gets here. I think I'm smitten, though.
- I've been considering letting my Chibi go. :[ I don't know yet... it was hard to get and my Chibi is adorable. But I haven't been motivated to finish it. It may come down to Chibi or L-bi.
- His name is going to be Luhan. Bet you can't guess I'm an Exo fan. Ha.
- He's sort of inspired from Moon. Not completely, but a bit.
- He's going out tomorrow for a Mingyi face-up (with Chibi if I decide to keep Chibi...)
More notes:
- My Sist and Lusis are finished at Nomyens and shipped yesterday. I can't wait!!!
- I have a dream fairyland doll on the way. :3 I will be trying to obtain an M-Line body for her. Can you guess which girl it is? That's your only hint: it's a girl.
- I hope to get back into Fairyland soon!
So... yeah. That's a big update.

We've got you covered. As a social media agency we realised that thousands of small businesses, just like yours, needed just 3 things to make their social media less of a chore and more of a slam dunk!
1. Simple Software that allows you to create, post, schedule, recycle, analyse and get and reply to all your messages - in one place. It even tells you what to post and when.
2. Super Support - you don't need to be technical to use our software but just in case - you get your own Facebook group where we go live every week to share screens and answer your questions. And you can message us anytime. We are based in the UK - so you can speak to someone in real time!
3. Social Strategies - it's not just about HOW to post, it's knowing WHAT to post. We have training available in the group to help you get started on being the best social media manager for your business - but if you'd like us to do it for you, we have a big team who can do that.

This is my guardian. Her title is "La Reina de mi Corazon" or "Queen of my Heart". I made her to represent things that I love and that I am grateful for. Sometimes (well, a lot of times) I forget how lucky I am and I need a little reminder. When I look at her, I am reminded of the fun, sparkly, beauty in my life: my love for art, my love for Mexico, Day of the Dead, and the beauty of the desert of the Southwest. The Nopal and the day of the dead dog are made of polymer clay. The Nopal reminds me that the desert is a beautiful place, full of life and color. I tried to make it so that she is an extension of the nopal, sorta growing out of it, or it growing out of her out of her, to show that we are all connected, nature, plants and animals. I also used some of the Crafty Chica products, such as the little Corazon tatoo (something that I really want to get) and the cupcake from the Loteria set (what girl doesn't love a good pastry). Also, using the Crafty Chica products reminds what an inspiration La Chica is herself. I also added ruffles to her dress to remind of a Flamenco dancer and the joy that comes from music and dancing.
We had considered getting lunch with the princesses at Ariel's Grotto in California Adventure, but with the price as high as it was we decided we'd save that for when she was a bit older. So instead we headed over to Goofy's Kitchen which had an all-you-can-eat buffet and the characters come to your table throughout your meal. We were afraid Snow White was going to skip us so we caught up with her as she was walking between tables. Lighting was horrible here... but hey, you take what you can get! And now we have a photo to put next to Snow White in that signature book!

Welcome, won't you come inside?
Meet the ghost where I reside
Despite how they're abusing me
Lonely, I will never be
Comfort in the hell I know
Resentment like a cancer grows
Longing for the day I'm free
Burn to get you out of me
Lyin', supplyin' the need
Shedding and spreading the seed
Setting the trap with a thread
Spinning the web
Misery, she needs me
Oh-oh, but I need her more
Misery, she loves me
Oh-oh, but I love her more
Misery, she kills me
Oh-oh, but I end this war
Misery, she fills me
Oh, no, but she's not what I'm livin' for
Ricochets within my head
Conversations never said
Magnifyin' every thought
That familiar pain she brought
Seeps inside eventually
Misery loves company
Sullen, I created you
I suppose that I can end you too
She waits (she waits, she waits, she waits)
She waits (she waits, she waits, she waits)
Misery, she needs me
Oh-oh, but I need her more
Misery, she loves me
Oh-oh, but I love her more
Misery, she kills me
Ooh, but I end this war
Misery, she fills me
Oh, no, but she's not what I'm livin' for
Oh, no
Ooh, misery
She needs me, but I need her more
She loves me, but I love her more
She kills me (she kills me), but I end this war
She fills me (she fills me), but she's not what I'm livin' for
Oh, no, oh, no
No, no, no, no, no, no
Not why I'm living
Misery, she needs me
Oh-oh, but I need her more
Misery, she loves me
Oh, but I love her more
Misery, she kills me
Oh, but I end this war

There's an ice cream party in my house
An ice cream party in my house
Please come over
There's an ice cream party in my house
An ice cream party in my house
Please come over
There's no end to the ways
That we can play and play and play
So please come over
There's an end to the day
And it ends much differently this time, come over
There's an ice cream party in my house
An ice cream party in my house
Please come over
Well, my father doesn't ring the bell no more
It's alright, would you please come over?
Sure, you've heard that him and mom are separated
And he's gone, he won't be around
Oh, an ice cream party in my house
An ice cream party in my house
Please come over
I promise I won't tell any other kids that you did
But please, please come over
An ice cream party at my house
We can play until we're sacked out
Please come over
There's an ice cream party in my house
An ice cream party in my house
Please come over
Oh, there's an ice cream party in my house (pretty, pretty please)
An ice cream party in my house (pretty, pretty please)
Please come over (please come over)

Try to get inside my head
All the windows are painted shut
Take your horse to my water to drink
I'm not the gift that you think
Cross my name off the devil's to-do list
Burn every page in that little black book
And we're praying it remains in the mouth of God
You've got cracks in your magic
Blood on your hands
Cracks in your magic
Blood on your hands
I'm the one
The one that you left behind
Wish I knew you
Knew you when you were alive
It's not a costume
It's not how I wanted to die
It's not a costume
It's not how I wanted to die
Cross my name off the devil's to-do list
Burn every page in that little black book
And we're praying it remains in the mouth of God
You've got cracks in your magic
Blood on your hands
Cracks in your magic

The one that you left behind
Wish I knew you
Knew you when you were alive
It's not a costume
It's not how I wanted to die
It's not a costume
It's not how I wanted to die
I'll break your sunshine to scare my shadow away
I'll break your sunshine to scare my shadow away
I'll break your sunshine to scare my shadow away
I'll break your sunshine to scare my shadow away
I'll break your sunshine to scare my shadow away

It's not a costume
It's not how I wanted to die

I'll break your sunshine to scare my shadow away
I'll break your sunshine
I'll break your sunshine (to scare my shadow away)

I've run right out of thoughts and I've run right out of words
As I used them up, I used them up
Yeah the fire is almost cold and there's nothing left to burn
I've run right out of feeling and I've run right out of world
And everything I promised, and everything I tried
Yeah everything I ever did I used to feed the fire
I used to feed the fire
I used to feed the fire
I used to feed the fire
But the fire is almost out is almost out
And there's nothing left to burn
No there's nothing left to burn
Not even this
And the fire is almost dead and there's nothing left to burn
I've finished everything
And all the things I promised, and all the things I tried
Yeah all the things I ever dreamed I used to feed the fire
I used to feed the fire
I used to feed the fire
I used to feed the fire
But the fire is almost out
Half my life I've been here
Half my life in flames
Using all I ever had to keep the fire ablaze
To keep the fire ablaze
To keep the fire ablaze
To keep the fire ablaze
But there's nothing left to burn
No there's nothing left to burn
And the fire is almost out
There fire is almost out

He jumped down, he knocked her off her feet, uhh
And then I knew it was the end of her
(Yea yea yea)

He's gonna kill that girl tonight
He's gonna kill that girl

When I saw her walking down the street
My heart stood still and skipped a beat
Then he knocked her on the floor
But he wanted a little bit more

We have one chance.
One chance to get everything right.
We have one chance, one chance.
And if we're lucky we might.
My friends, my habits, my family,
They mean so much to me.
I just don't think that it's right.
I've seen so many ships sail in,
Just to head back out again and go off sinking.
I'm just a box in a cage. I'm just a box in a cage.
I'm just a box, just a box in a cage.
I'm just a box, just a box in a cage.
I'm just a box, just a box in a cage.
I'm just a box in a cage.
Didn't mean to laugh, didn't know I had.
Didn't know the better part of what you said
'cause in your head you are not home.
Didn't get the joke. Didn't mean to poke another,
Just to save myself
From some something something or another one.
Well walk home.
I'm just a box in a cage. I'm just a box in a cage.
I'm just a box, just a box in a cage.
I'm just a box in a cage.

With the fire from the fireworks up above me
With a gun for a lover and a shot for the pain at hand
You run for cover in the temple of love
You run for another but still the same
For the wind will blow my name across this land
In the temple of love you hide together
Believing pain and fear outside
But someone near you rides the weather
And the tears he cried will rain on walls
As wide as lovers eyes
In the temple of love: Shine like thunder
In the temple of love: Cry like rain
In the temple of love: Hear my calling
In the temple of love: Hear my name
And the devil in black dress watches over
My guardian angel walks away
Life is short and love is always over in the morning
Black wind come carry me far away
With the sunlight died and night above me
With a gun for a lover and a shot for the pain inside
You run for cover in the temple of love
You run for another it's all the same
For the wind will blow and throw your walls aside
With the fire from the fireworks up above
With a gun for a lover and a shot for the pain
You run for cover in the temple of love
I shine like thunder cry like rain
And the temple grows old and strong
But the wind blows longer cold and long
And the temple of love will fall before
This black wind calls my name to you no more
In the black sky thunder sweeping
Underground and over water
Sounds of crying weeping will not save
Your faith for bricks and dreams for mortar
All your prayers must seem as nothing
Ninety-six below the wave
When stone is dust and only air remains
In the temple of love: Shine like thunder
In the temple of love: Cry like rain
In the temple of love: Hear the calling
And the temple of love is falling
Down
In the temple of love: Shine like thunder
In the temple of love: Cry like rain
In the temple of love: Hear my calling
In the temple of love: Hear my name
In the black sky thunder sweeping
Underground and over water
Sounds of crying weeping will not save
Your faith for bricks and dreams for mortar
All your prayers must seem as nothing
Ninety-six below the wave
When stone is dust and only air remains
the only haven you can trust
And the devil in black dress watches over
My guardian angel walks away
Life is short and love is always over in the morning
Black wind come carry me far away

Alice pressed against the wall
So she can see the door
In case the laughing strangers crawl and
Crush the petals on the floor
Alice in her party dress
She thanks you kindly
So serene
She needs you like she needs her tranqs
To tell her that the world is clean
To promise her a definition
Tell her where the rain will fall
Tell her where the sun shines bright
And tell her she can have it all
Today
Pass the crystal spread the Tarot
In illusion comfort lies
The safest way the straight and narrow
No confusion no surprise
Alice in her party dressed to kill
She the thanks you turns away
She needs you like she needs her pills
To tell her that the world's okay
To promise her a definition
Tell her where the rain will fall
Tell her where the sun shines bright
And tell her she can have it all
Today
Today
Alice
Don't give it away
Some people get by with a little understanding
Some people get by with a whole lot more
I don't know, why you gotta be so undemanding
One thing I know, I want more, I want more
And I need all the love that I can't get too
And I need all the love I can get
And I need all the love that I can't get too
D'you get scared to feel so much?
To let somebody touch you?
So hot, so cold, so far so out of control
Hard to come by, and harder to hold
Some people get by with a little understanding
Some people get by with a whole lot more
I don't know, why you gotta be so undemanding
I want more
And I need all the love I can get
And I need all the love that I can't get too
And I need all the love I can get
And I need all the love that I can't get too
There are parts of me that don't get nervous
Not the parts that shake
You won't get what you deserve
You are what you take
Learning to cry for fun and profit
I'm not done yet
Counterfeit dollars or the English Zloty
Anything I can get
Some people get by with a little understanding
Some people get by with a whole lot more
I don't know, why you gotta be so undemanding
One thing I know, I want more
And I need all the love I can get
And I need all the love that I can't get too

Last October, Marilyn Manson split with longtime bassist Jeordie White — otherwise known as Twiggy Ramirez — after White’s ex-girlfriend, former Jack Off Jill front-woman Jessicka Addams, came forward with allegations of rape and sexual assault. (White subsequently issued a public apology, stating he does not "condone non-consensual sex of any kind.") Manson commented on the situation in a recent interview with Kerrang!, revealing that White's dismissal might have been a long time coming, as Ultimate Guitar points out.
“I did not divorce Twiggy as a friend or brother, because I still care about him greatly," Manson began, “but I can't say that my musical relationship with Twiggy has been good for several years.” He added, “My relationship with [musical collaborator] Tyler Bates on The Pale Emperor [Manson’s 2015 album] made something open up in me and I didn't want to let negative energy back in my life.”

The air is whizzing by, the spider watched us fly
And at best you could say you were obliged
Well, we sing the spider's song, and the words are too too long
And it scared me just to say I'll carry on, the carrion
It takes a lot of pay-no-mind with your cellular gadgets on
Oh, our lives don't seem to float
You think you know, you just don't know
Why you should never fuck a spider on the fly
Well, if you fuck a spider on the fly
You're gonna gonna gonna get the news
Yeah, there's a lot of webs
Sure, there's enough for you
The last thing I should say won't be spoken anyways
And that's why I got to move
Well, there's a lotta things I shoulda done
I shoulda oughta probably oughta do
So you should never fuck a spider on the fly
If you do you're gonna find out soon
There's still some web for you
Whatcha gonna do
It doesn't matter what they don't know
They really really want you to know
So they'll tap tap tap, no matter where you go, oh
Peeping Tom's at every window
Dangling a leash for your throat
Peeping and tapping, looking into every single window, oh
Oh, I don't care for politics and it doesn't care for me
I don't like being watched by the TV
Well, there's a lot of news, a lot of news
A lot of news, a lot of news
And it all works as a web for you
Well, you should never fuck a spider on the fly
If you really really want to move
'Cause we're all food
And there's the web for you
Well, if you fuck a spider on the fly
You're gonna gonna gonna get the news
There's a lot of webs
Yeah, there's a web for you
Peeping Tom's at every window
Dangling a leash for your throat
Peeping and smudging, looking into every window
It doesn't matter what they don't know
They really really want you to know
So they'll tap tap tap tap tap, on every window, oh
They zoom in, you can't zoom out
Oh, your head's my house now
I live in every corner of your mind, I ain't coming out
I have a lot to do
To become you
Well, I ain't taking orders but they're still givin' them out
Oh, I'm lost over international waters in the cloud
Where I got got got got got got got some news
Well, you should never fuck a spider on the fly
If you really really want to move
There's a lot of webs
And there's enough for you
Well, if you fuck a spider on the fly

You were laying on the carpet like you're satin in a coffin
You said, "Do you believe what you're sayin'?"
Yeah, right now, but not that often
Are you dead or are you sleepin'?
Are you dead or are you sleepin'?
Are you dead or are you sleepin'?
God, I sure hope you are dead
Well, you disappeared so often like you dissolved into coffee
Are you here right now, or are there probably fossils under your meat?
Are you dead or are you sleepin'?
Are you dead or are you sleepin'?
Are you dead or are you sleepin'?
God, I sure hope you are dead
Now the blow's been softened since the air we breathe is our coffin
Well, now the blow's been softened since the ocean is our coffin
Often times you know our laughter is your coffin ever after
And you know the blow's been softened since the world is our coffin
Well, now the blow's been softened since we are our own damn coffins
Well, everybody's talkin' about their short lists and everybody's talkin'
A figure that I'd never gotten a chance to get over the past 214years or so was the Yamato VMF Queen's Blade - Leina figure. I happened to come across one recently on Kijiji for a reasonable price.
Release d in 2009 with a MSRP of 8,190 Yen, this wasn't a cheap figure. Even at today's prices, it's not exactly a bargain either. Having said that, as it is an older figure, I entered into my analysis with an expectation of archaic design choices. What also helped is that I actually own another in the series, the Ghost in the Shell: SAC Motoko Kusunagi and let me tell you... that thing sucked.
One of things you need to accept is the lack of accessories. These days, most figures have extra hands and relevant weaponry - Leina has no replaceable hands, her sword, and a shield that is fused o her left arm. Technically her cast off armour counts as ceessories, but it's not even cleverly made or anything - to get it off you literally have to dismantle the figure.
I've already mentioned the dated issue, and yeah it shows. There's the general dated look and engineering, along with the sculpting. Armour turned out alright. Everything else is kind of.. meh. Musculature isn't too bad.
Articulation is rather dismal, seeing how her legs cannot spread open. The joints themselves are somewhat flimsy and in some instances, loose, which makes posing the figure kind of a pain in the ass. Poor shoulder and head tilt capabilities just add to the flavour that is disappointment Overall, you're probably going to sticking with some variation of a standing pose, and the included stand will help with regards to stability issues..
Leina has some decent curves. Back in 2009, this sort of thing was scandalous. These days, everything uses a Phicen, and while there are some serious questions about why they're so big, the curves of a modern Phicen are much nicer to look at tan anything from back in the day.. unless you have one of those VCToys bodies which look like they're made from expired silicone. Leina has, however, a really scrawny neck, though.
It's too bad, as I had hopes that this figure wouldn't be as bad as Motoko, and is probably the closest thing to a 1/6 Queen's Blade figure we're gonna get (and if those came out, I'd be broke) but the truth is, as far as action figures go, the Revoltech offerings, as crude as they can be, are still better than this, which is probably why the line kind of died out.

The Kensington-Windsor Terrace summer CSA wrapped up the weekend before Thanksgiving, and I wanted to take a look back on my first CSA experience to see if it was worth it. Dave and I got a half-share of vegetables, fruit, and eggs, which cost
$460 +$10(administration fee)=$470
This covered 12 pick-ups over 24 weeks
Which breaks down to about $39 per pick-up.
That breaks down further (minus the $10 fee) to be:
vegetables: $23.33/pick-up; fruit: $12.08/pick-up; eggs: $2.92/pick-up (so, per half-dozen).
Pros: The quality of everything was excellent (the occasional sad, wilted herbs notwithstanding). Garden of Eve Farm sent out an email update every week with a list of what we could expect, which was awesome (the email also often included a recipe that featured an item in the pick-up—though usually you would need two or three times what we were receiving to make the recipe, sadly). The people who ran it on site were really nice, and made picking up and volunteering a breeze. Finally and most importantly, Dave and I ate so well! What I had been looking forward to most—getting things I might not normally get and trying to figure out what to do from there for meals—was exactly what we got. And while I expected (and received) tomatoes and peaches that tasted like they should, I also got some surprises—celery can be even more celery-y, arugula more arugula-y!
Cons: The biggest concern through the summer was whether the price was being fulfilled with the food we received. Did the 1/2-pint of raspberries and single stalk of rhubarb we got with the first pick-up even out with a cantaloupe in August, or did seven apples bring that average back down in October? Goodness knows the tomato explosion in week 14 made up for plenty, but it still felt, well, like not quite enough. Also, a half-share is not enough for two people. We regularly used up everything in the first week—and mostly just for dinner, maybe an occasional lunch or breakfast. I wondered if a full share would make up for those two concerns, but the full version of what we received would be $875 (+$10 fee), so $885/24 weeks is about $37 per pick-up. Not much difference, and I wonder if I would end up seeing more waste that way (you can only freeze so much). Finally, a small complaint is veggie fatigue: how I grew sick of cucumbers and apples, and how can anyone use two heads of lettuce and a bag of mesclun greens in a week?
I’m lucky enough to live a short walk from a year-round greenmarket, so I wonder if I would be better off getting into the habit of picking up a load of veggies there each week (which I do on the small-scale now anyway), similar to what I would get in the CSA. Just maybe fewer cucumbers and salad greens. However, another big pro to this CSA was the ritual: pick-up was Saturday morning, so Dave and I would wake up and drive over to the neighboring hood and sit and drink coffee and eat a breakfast sandwich (oh holy crap the ham and cheese croissant) at Brancaccio’s before getting the veggies. (Should I add the $9/pick-up for breakfast to the total CSA cost? Ha.) And somehow, every single week, the weather was perfect, not a drop of rain, never too hot or cold.
So what will we do next year? I’m not sure yet. We did decide, no matter what this pro/con list looks like, that we enjoyed the supply of great vegetables too much to just stop, and so we’ve signed up for the Garden of Eve winter share. Six more months, once-a-month pick-ups. Hopefully it’s not too cold to sit on the bench outside Brancaccio’s, drinking coffee, greeting dogs, and wondering what’s for dinner.
This is image no. 294 of 365 for my 2011 365 project.
"Leftovers"
Ms. Daisy is one spoiled dog. I spoiler her every chance I get, with the exception of food, most of the time anyway. She gets yogurt every night (a spoonful or two in her food helps with a bulldog's digestion... trust me, they need all the help they can get) and some cheese every once in a while. She doesn't get table scraps or the like but when there is a yogurt cup available, she will lick and chew it until you take it away. Tonight was no exception and before I gave it to her, I set up a light and grabbed my camera. She did not dissapoint with the theatrics.
About a minute after I took the cup away she lay on the floor, snoring away. What a life!
Field Trip - Bovingdon Brickworks - Bovingdon - 08/05/16
Last night I was joined by Roger and Steve at Bovingdon Brickworks just outside of the village of Bovingdon, roughly 5 miles South-West of Hemel Hempstead.
The reserve was formerly a brickworks and is consequently very sandy with undulating pits making it quite a unique trapping location that is full of wild flowers.
David had already setup his MV Robinson at Gadesprings which we would return to after packing up from Bovingdon.
We did a lengthy walk from the cars with the equipment which isn't for the faint-hearted, set up a total of four traps, an actinic in the wooded section and then three other traps scattered around the pits.
The weather was pretty much perfect minus cloud cover, but we didn't need it as it was still 16 degrees when I was driving home at half 2! With the day-time temperature peaking at a heady 27 degrees, we were confident that even if the sky stayed clear that it would take a few hours for the temperature to drop, and a few hours is all we needed.
Best moth of the night was a pretty scarce moth for Hertfordshire but seemingly common in other parts o the Country, Early Tooth-striped a new moth for me!
Other species of note were mainly micros with a few still to sort out.
Three stunning Cydia strobilella were great to get, and a Herts scarce species along with my third new species an Incurvaria pectinea.
It was great to finally see good numbers of moths and many species numbered into double-figures.

I am supernatural
superbad
superawesome
"I Am"
I'm an angel, I'm a devil
I am sometimes in between
I'm as bad it can get
And good as it can be
Sometimes I'm a million colors
Sometimes I'm black and white
I am all extremes
Try figure me out you never can
There's so many things I am
I am special
I am beautiful
I am wonderful
And powerful
Unstoppable
Sometimes I'm miserable
Sometimes I'm pitiful
But that's so typical of all the things I am
I'm someone filled with self-belief
And haunted by self-doubt
I've got all the answers
I've got nothing figured out
I like to be by myself
I hate to be alone
I'm up and I am down
But that's part of the thrill
Part of the plan
Part of all of the things I am
I'm a million contradictions
Sometimes I make no sense
Sometimes I'm perfect
Sometimes I'm a mess
Sometimes I'm not sure who I am

TheDiet Chronicles Documents an example of healthy eating or rather mindful eating. An idea of a way one "could" eat as a means to eat healthy and enjoy the process. As black belts and martial artist we are aware that Heart Disease is the number one cause of death among Americans and 1 out of 3 people will develop Type 2 Diabetes. It only makes sense then to make Healthy Eating a part of any self-defense program. Statistics show more people will be hurt by what's on their plate than they ever will be by a punch, kick, throw, or grappling match. Learning martial art techniques is important but where it stops the self-discipline of eating healthy and mindfully begins. Just an idea we explore and one that I ask my students to explore as well.

You know how being sick can sometimes be fun? There has been an underlying "satisfaction" with being ill, but for the most part it drives me crazy. I woke up with a migraine this morning (which I rarely get) and had to deal with the splitting pain that decided to take control of my head, face, jaw, and neck. This meant I was relegated to recliner lounging duty a la rice bag. Relaxation is never a strong suit for me. My hands itched for something to read or my knitting. "Sleep. You need to calm down. Find your happy place." Mum's stern, but welcome advice. I think everyone should have a happy place. My imagination is so freeing at times, I can feel the breeze of my happy place. I watch behind closed eyelids as the colors change to accommodate my happy place's vastness. Sleep finally found me.

Thursday, 03 August 2017: Tokyo
We're here!
Rosa and I are relaxing at the Hotel B Ikebukuro, in a compact twin room with a v compact bathroom complete with Japanese style loo - warmed seat and sprays and all :)
Having a cup of tea before heading out for a bit of a wander and to find somewhere for dinner. It's coming up to 6.30pm here now.
Our flight to Brussels was v late leaving, and I did get worried it might be an overnight in Belgium, but the air crew were super blasé about the timing for our connection (in a good way) and there were lots of people with shorter connections who needed to do passport control as well (which we didn't).
The air stewardess told us the Tokyo flight goes from the same terminal we arrived into - and there it was waiting at the stand next to the one we parked up at. An ANA man was waiting with a sign for people on the flight and confirmed it was the adjacent gate. PHEW!
Rubbish in-flight movies but otherwise super - Tom picked seats for us when he booked (which I hadn't realised) so we were in an emergency exit row with loads of legroom.
Speedy immigration etc and baggage when we landed at Tokyo Narita Airport, and the Green Tomato man and his minivan were waiting for us and whizzed us into central Tokyo (東京都).
Right - off to explore!
Written on Friday morning:
We had a good explore of the neighbourhood last night - nothing quite like it in London. Lots of shops, lots of little places to eat and lots of people - a bit like Oxford Street / Seven Dials merged together. The buildings on the main streets are tall and shiny, but things get smaller once you turn off into the side streets. Some manga shops and cinemas and shops selling arrays of cute things. Even a rabbit cafe (we decided they're ones where you get to pet a rabbit while you have your cup of tea, rather than eat it...)
We found a lovely conveyor belt sushi restaurant for dinner - easy to work out what you're getting and endless free DIY green tea, with the sushi chef making all the pieces from scratch there in the middle. Super!
We finished off with a mooch around the shops which resulted in Rosa buying her first souvenirs in a cutesy gift shop full of Hello Kitty type trinkets.
All in all a successful first foray into the bustling streets of Ikebukuro (池袋).
I'm gradually getting used to the warmed loo seat :)

This was purely an experiment in attempting to paint eyes that 'follow' you no matter what direction you go. It still lacks a glossy varnish but the varnish says wait 6-12 months to dry. Seems a tad excessive to me but whatever. I realized that creating some depth with the shadows at the corners and 'raising' or extending the brow with lighter tint helped give depth. I decided that this was as good as it was going to get and I'd be wise to leave well enough alone. It was free hand without real guidance and only from imagination so be a little forgiving.

Phil Evens "Good morning everyone, and thank you all for coming today. I'd like to start with a heads up about where we are. This driveway is a site entrance for the refurbishment of the Hill's Lab building over the back, so we need to keep it as clear as we can please. If necessary, we may have to move over to the carpark next door, also being mindful that it can be quite busy. I'd like to start by thanking and welcoming David Speirs from Waka Kotahi who is hear today. David is Waka Kotahi's Director of Regional Relationships, and is in constant communication with Hamilton City Council. Our hope is that David will take our messages back into his organisation with our sincere request that they be acted on. I would also like to thank the partners from Deloitte who own this property, for their permission to be here, and place this ghost bike on the railing outside their building. I understand some of their staff may be here, or watching from the top floor of the building. I am Phil Evans, and I started the advocacy group Bike ACTION Hamilton nearly a year ago, after becoming increasingly frustrated at both the state of many of our bike lanes, and also the attitude and behaviours of drivers, many of whom have so little regard for our safety. On a number of occasions, I have blocked drivers from double stacking, using our bike lanes for their convenience when heading up to left turns at intersections. I realise that some of that action was quite confrontational with drivers not impressed about being blocked from driving down our bike lanes. The double stacking problem is just one of the issues that both Waka Kotahi and the Police need to deal with. On-road bike lanes are supposed to be there for the safety of people who ride bikes, and not for drivers convenience. Bike ACTION Hamilton has also worked with Waikato District Council, and Waka Kotahi to keep off road shared paths clear of overhanging plants, particularly large flaxes. Both organisations have agreed to completely remove all inappropriate plantings along shared paths. The one many cyclist will know well is the section of Te Awa River Ride along the front of the Tamahere Shops, and the path adjacent to the expressway just north of Wintec Rotokauri. So why are we here today...? Today marks a milestone for Hamilton, with the placing of our first Ghost Bike. These are typically placed around the world where a cyclist has been killed or seriously injured, similar to the white crosses that mark the sites of vehicle collision fatalities. They are also placed at other relevant locations and today we are placing it at the entrance to Waka Kotahi's regional office. Its location here will be a reminder to all Waka Kotahi staff of the part they play in keeping everyone, including people who ride bikes, safe on our roads. This location is also poinient in being close to one of the most dangerous bridge crossings for cyclists in Hamilton. Various modifications have been made over the last couple of years, and are a vast improvement, but they cannot be the final solution. Back in February I found myself in an ambulance having just crossed that bridge and was cut off by a driver turning into Memorial Drive. She indicated very late, turned right in front of me, and didn't stop. She later told Police she had no idea I was there. That incident makes it clear that even the most practical improvements are still not enough to keep us safe over that bridge. But the real solution is still a long way off. Hamilton City Council have approved funding for a new dedicated walking/cycling bridge, planned to be built less than 100 or so meters from this bridge. They are still in the expensive and time consuming Business Case phase, with an unclear timeframe for that to be completed, and no guarantee of co funding from Waka Kotahi. This has been in the pipeline for a number of years, and still not really out of the starting box. In the meantime, people on bikes, getting to and from work, or the University, are required to cross the river on the existing bridge. This location is also very visible to the significant number of drivers who pass here every day. Hopefully word will get out that this white bike is a symbol for what happens when safe cycleways aren't yet in place, and what can happen. Over the last 11 years, Hamilton has seen the deaths of 7 cyclists, the most recent of which was in Tristram St less than 3 months ago. All of those deaths were avoidable. But sadly, because of a lack of safe infrastructure, they are no longer with us. It is unknown how many injuries have been sustained, but only the most serious are recorded by police. Hamilton City Council has approved a number of projects to begin addressing this, however, Waka Kotahi's processes are far to expensive, slow and cumbersome to make a real difference on our streets. The costs of the Business Cases should be going into more infrastructure, and not endless consultants writing reports. We are all aware that our current bike lane network is very fragmented. Small bits have been added over the years, but the gaps and lack of safe options play a role in keeping cyclist numbers low. The ideal would definitely be a fully off road network, with gold standard routes like the one on Ruakura Rd, and the Wairere Drive shared path, which is nearly 12 km long. But in an existing city, fully off road is not possible, so we need to work faster at making the on road lanes safer. I have personally written numerous emails to CEO Nicole Rosie over the last 12 months, asking for an overhaul of their process, to cut red take, shorten timelines, and make more money available for what Hamilton desperately needs. Responses from various staff have all simply stated their current position, with no intention to address the shortcomings. I believe their processes needs to be changed. Allocating a lump sum to each Council each year, according to population size, or level of growth, would be a start. Or perhaps include Hamilton with Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. That way Hamilton City Council will know what we are getting, and can plan around that. I understand that at last Wednesday's Strategic Growth Committee, while discussing the Metro Spatial Plan, Committee Chair Dave Macpherson asked questions regarding future transport funding processes for Hamilton, and I also know both Cr Dave and Cr Sarah Thomson released a statement to that effect on Wednesday afternoon. So we are also calling on Waka Kotahi to take this seriously, to make more funding available to Hamilton, and to fast track co-funding to match the projects already funded by this Council. Because while we wait, people will continue to be killed and injured. I want to now address the final part of our request to Waka Kotahi, and that is around driver education. There is no doubt that the vast majority of cyclist safety issues come from drivers, most of which is clearly not understanding the rules around people on bikes, and bike lanes. I am sure every cyclist has stories of being cut off, being passed dangerously close, or not being able to use marked bike lanes because they are blocked by parked vehicles, or rush hour traffic. It doesn't help that the Police have done virtually nothing to enforce what are actually very clear legislated rules. The attitude of too many drivers is quite frankly shocking and unacceptable. Every time I am on the receiving end of driver anger, I try to work out why they are so against me riding a bike. It makes no sense, that most drivers are more than happy to be stuck in traffic jams, but when I slow them down for a few seconds to safely get through an intersection, their anger rages to the surface. I don't get that. I will say however, that it is not all drivers. On any particular ride, the vast majority of drivers go completely unnoticed. They keep a good distance, are patient, pass wide and slow, and go about their day. Road Rules are there for a reason, but unfortunately most drivers have not looked at the Road Code since the day they got their drivers license, and there is no requirement for anyone to be retested when renewing their drivers license, except for an eye test. The result is that our roads are full of drivers who have no clue as to what the road rules are. It is time that changed. I have mentioned the Double Stacking, where drivers use our bike lanes to create a second lane, heading up to intersections and roundabouts. This is a clear violation of the Land Transport Road User Rules, but it has never been enforced, and now all drivers consider it just a normal thing to do. That also needs to change. We need drivers to learn how to pass someone on a bike safely. The current distance is 1.5 meters, but I am certain most people have no clue how far that actually is. It is very rare to see a driver hold back at narrower roads, and pinch points like pedestrian islands. Instead they drive at their normal speed with mere inches from our handlebars. And they do it because they have never been told it is against the rules. It is time that changed. We need drivers to know what green paint means. Most don't. It appears on our streets, large swathes of bright green, but there is never any education about what they mean, and while that is partly Councils fault, it is also a national issue. Even many cyclists don't know what a sharrow is, or how to use them. The occasional small corflute sign attached to a pole isn't enough. Advanced stop boxes are another issue, with many drivers blocking them at intersections, and when they are used by cyclists, will often drive dangerously close, out of impatience. Drivers have accepted the hold ups with congestion, but when someone on a bike holds them up for a few seconds, their lose the plot in an angry rage. All we want is to get through the intersection safely. We need drivers to understand that when take the lane, it isn't to piss them off, it is to be seen, and be safe. All of those are reasons why we are getting killed and injured. So David, with this Ghost Bike as a reminder, we are asking your organisation to step up, and I mean really step up, and get this sorted. We don't want to hear about delays, and excuses like, 'oh but all the budget for the next 3 years has been spent”, so we miss out. We don't want to hear of more roading projects that we all know will never reduce congestion, while our safety is put on the back burner. Hamilton needs to be properly co-funded for the cycleway projects that have already been approved. They are not 'pet projects', they are desperately needed safety infrastructure, and they will close the gaps to form a safe, enjoyable cycleway network. Hamilton needs to know that funding is available for the years ahead, so it can plan within that, and not be subjected to the current pot luck lolly scramble that currently exists. We need a significant increase in the $$ value of funding because retro fitting a large city doesn't come cheap. And finally, we need driver education. The current situation cannot be allowed to continue, where drivers have no clue about the road rules, and put our lives at risk. Once everyone knows the rules, perhaps the angry bikelashing that permeates social media and news outlets will subside, and riding a bike will become something to enjoy, clearing out the stresses from a days work, or getting the family out on their bikes on the weekend. I firmly believe all these requests are achievable. They can be done. So with that, we will secure this first Ghost Bike to the railing outside Waka Kotahi's office, and see what happens."

This area seems to have more Fall colors for so early in the season (it's not actually Fall yet). We got up early to see what kind of light we would get and found the misty morning pictured here.
“You can never have too much sky. You can fall asleep and wake up drunk on sky, and sky can keep you safe when you are sad. Here there is too much sadness and not enough sky. Butterflies too are few and so are flowers and most things that are beautiful. Still, we take what we can get and make the best of it.”- An excerpt from The House on Mango Street written by Sandra Cisneros, “Darius and the Clouds”. Today this quote I think would resonate with a lot of people. As much as we try everything might seem gray and dull, the exciting things from the semester were unable to happen and its definitely throwing people into the dumps. For this week’s pictures I asked my siblings and parents to participate. I asked them not to smile to display kind of the mood of the house. Nobody is able to do what they would like. My brother isn’t allowed to play hockey like he used to, my sister does her ballet class through zoom, and I am also learning through zoom. I’m looking forward to the end of the semester because although some classes have made it easy to remember when things are due others have not. Alternative learning is not for everyone and it definitely isn’t meant for me. Recently I got a job delivering other people’s groceries for them with Instacart and yesterday I was hired to be a pizza driver. Let’s hope it pays off.
