My results were positive, not the good kind of positive. BRAC 2 mutation of genes. Oh well you get what you get and deal with it. I just never thought at age 32 I would have to think about breast/ovarian/cancer

As close a shot as I could get and even this is cropped , a quite common bird but yet again very skittish , a car is ideal for taking shots as long as your quarry is infront of you , unless youve a mobile hide you wont get close to these , I had a closer shot but the bird was looking away {typical}

Some things in life I cant get - and this is one - how anyone can like durian fruit!! On my first trip to Asia many years ago there was a sign behind the door in my hotel room that informed you that weapons, fireworks and durian fruit was forbidden in the hotel - with very good reason - it smells as if someone has been dead for quite a few weeks.

According to some of my friends from SEA it apparently tastes really nice - one you get past the smell.... well doing everything once - I did taste some durian ice cream - which was not unpleasant - but the smell was still there...

I smelt this guy long before I even saw him ....

Grebious Times in Beaverton. Only time I've had the opportunity to get a photo with both a Western Grebe and a Pied-Billed Grebe, this was the best I could get. (And both of them with fall color reflections - not going to happen again soon I don't think.)

I feel so in the dark in my life, like I'm not living the life I should be. All my life is work, school, car. nothing is fun anymore, My life is being wasted by all the responsibilities we all have to take on this age, instead of living our best lives we are taken over by the responsibilities of adult hood Instead of having the fun of our lives and making everything count we are taken over by the responsibilities. I chose this because I think this photograph represents how this part of our lives are on the inside we want to live and make the most out of everything we get and are but there is this barrier that is keeping us from it.

Ardie decided the best bed in the house was ours!

Coming from a musical family - her mother was a concert soprano - Constance Cummings made her show business début in 1926 in regional stock theatre, and by 1928 had appeared in her first Broadway play. Her success in the theatre resulted in an invitation to Hollywood, where she went 1931. Although she played in more than 20 films, she was never really comfortable in Hollywood nor satisfied with the parts she was getting, and in 1934 she left for England, UK. She continued her stage and film career there. but few of those films ever made it back to the U.S.

She was awarded the C.B.E. (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 1974 Queen's Honours List for her services to drama.

I'm rather pleased with this one. I think the dull skies made for considerably better lighting than I usually get and you'd not really know that there is some fill-in flash going on. Maybe I'm biased, but this may be the best of the set so far.

Clear and clean beef stock - light in flavour but very "ching" - with thin slices of beef floating above a tumble of soft medium thick noodles. I was able to get and add on of tripe in my order (tis my preferred combo).

Nenana vistor center is located about 55 miles south of Fairbanks on the George Parks Highway. Nenana is a former railroad-construction camp with a reputation far bigger than its population.

Nenana is home to just a few hundred residents, but Alaskans from Ketchikan to Barrow are familiar with it because of its namesake game of chance – the Nenana Ice Classic. Each winter, a wooden tripod is placed on the frozen Nenana River, which runs right past town, and entrants pay $2 to record their best guess as to when the ice will break up each spring. Alaska has no lottery, so the Nenana Ice Classic is as close as it gets, and the pot usually exceeds $300,000 or so.

We tend to celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied ad multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.

We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

The second of two pieces I got on clearance from Bandai Namco during Black Friday 2022 was this Storm Collectibles Zangief, based on his Ultra Street Fighter 2 appearance.

Funny thing is that it is the Event Exclusive colour, which technically should be harder to get and cost more aftermarket, but here we are - I think it was like $50 USD?

My best guess? People really, really love their P1 colours and refuse anything else.

I actually own a SFV Zangief and generally wouldn't have bitten even at this price, but the Zangief I have cam with a really bad waist joint, to the point where it doesn't actually hold together properly.

I also just realized I was too lazy to fish it out of a cabinet to do some comparison photos.

The two are the same height and are actually much different aesthetically than you would think - they're actually two very different figures, though as youc an imagine the base body engineering is the same... which means that Zangief still has a functional neck joint.

Yes, that sound stupid, but keep in mind that I've not opened a male Storm collectibles figure for quite a while now, and they actually stopped putting working neck joints in their female figures as early on as SFV Cammy.

This is also the company that ditched their stands, so really such a cost cutting step shouldn't surprise any one.

Several head sculpts are included with the figure, including an Ultra SF2 line exclusive "You Lose" head sculpt. They look appropriately ugly because well quite frankly SF2 Zangief wasn't as pretty as he is now.

In addition to the heads, the figure has several hands, two dedicated Banishing Fist palms and one actual effect. There is one stand which I think is to support the effect, but I can't find a hole anywhere to mount it.

Zangief's articulation remains good, though the actual range of motion is limited, particularly in the legs, due to the sheer bulk of them. Also, as one would expect some poses don't quite look natural.

The St. Thomas ATCT (STT) temporary mobile tower, used on the island since operations began after hurricanes Irma and Maria last September, ceased operations at 7 p.m. on March 7. Services were transitioned back to the permanent tower on March 8. Employees had all services cut over and tested by 1 a.m. Normal air traffic operations resumed in the permanent tower at 7 a.m. on March 8.

“It was an all hands on deck kind of thing,” STT FacRep Patrick Cieniewicz said of the repair and reopening effort. “It’s amazing when something like this happens, the amount of help that you get - and a lot of it is behind the scenes. Thank you to everyone who helped out. It’s very much appreciated.”

Project 3

Motion

Motion is one of the most important things to learn on how to capture. The reasoning for this is that all over the place things are moving, a couple of examples would be the ocean, a football game, a grassland, the park, the city, and so on. When wanting to take a picture of something, you must know certain things just in case there are moving objects around what you want to capture, or maybe you want to capture a moving object.

On my project I choose three images that have meaning to me and reasoning for my capturing of the image, but first I am going to talk about all my subjects. My first subject of images was for stop motion. I used my dad for an example of him jogging towards the camera, with the sun in the back of me. These images qualified for stop motion because they show me capturing his movement perfectly, and no blurry parts showing. I choose to capture my dad running towards me because it was in an area with great lighting.

My second subject that I had was blurry motion. This was quite easy to shoot depending on how high, or low your shutter speed was. I used my friend Hailey as my example because we were hanging out that day. In those images, you can see she is waving her arm side by side with a great speed. These qualify for blurry motion as you can see the parts that are moving, and the ones that are not. My connection to this photo is how behind the scenes we both are having fun taking these photos because you can see her laughing in the background.

My third subject was panning, which was actually pretty hard for me t to get, and frustrating because they wouldn’t come out right, and I had to re do panning multiple times. For this panning I once again choose my dad. I made him jump in mid air for these images. You can see I captured his every movement, and got his jump in the air. The sunlight was just going down, but I definitely got the image I wanted after all the stress I went through trying to get it. My connection towards those photos are how I was in a rush and needed panning.

Last but not least, my fourth subject was once again on panning, but was a good one this time. In my images I captured my friend Hailey jumping off of a bench as high as she can to give a great panning. I once again followed her every move with the camera, until I was satisfied with the moment of her jump. My connection to these photos were that it was on the benches that my old friends, and I used to go to after school during middle school, and eat snacks

This project was hard at first because I had no idea how to capture motion, but then I got the hang of it, and got great photos for my motion project. It is very good to know these things when learning photography, and can make it a lot easier for everyone. This was a great experience for me, and will definitely help me out for future projects.

First tests of doing some astrophotography with the new telephoto. Was amazed how much movement you get and how short an exposure you need to stop any trailing.

Coursera for Business partnered with ATD, Association for Talent Development, to host the webcast: “Leadership Skills for the Future of Work”.

The world of work is rapidly changing due to technology, globalization, and a new generation of workers. In this changing landscape, the ability to identify and develop capable leaders will be key to business success. However, companies are struggling to see what lies ahead and to help potential leaders develop the skills they will need. Here are the top takeaways:

The importance of soft skills

Soft skills are defined as personal attributes that enable one to interact effectively and harmoniously with others.

When thinking about soft skills in the world of technology, Professor David Van Kleeck shared that technical skills are fairly easy to come by. “It’s the soft stuff that is the hard stuff.” Soft skills are the differentiator between average and exceptional performers.

Engineers cannot just rely on analytical problem solving or technical skills – they have to develop the soft skills. They recognize that where they begin to struggle is in situations of ambiguity, dealing with people issues, solving real world problems – all of which highlights the need for soft skills training.

The most important soft skill is “supportive communication”, which includes active listening, being specific, and focusing on problems vs people. Being skilled at other soft skills such as facilitation, emotional intelligence, negotiation and conflict management all require communication skills as the foundation.

Steps to develop practical leadership skills.

Step 1: Build self awareness and understanding, via assessments, drills, self-reflection, and external feedback.

Step 2: Identify your strengths and weaknesses within the established leadership framework at your organization.

Step 3: Prioritize what you need to develop now vs. later, and form action plans to develop the skills. Plans should include getting help and continuous feedback from others such as a coach and your network.

Step 4: Go out and practice. You need to make the mistakes to learn and grow, seek leadership opportunities.

To develop these skills, Coursera offers many leadership and management courses. Prof. Van Kleeck teaches the Leadership Development for Engineers Specialization, targeting technical employees with 0-5 years of work experience, looking to grow their skills and move into a lead role.

How to measure the ROI of soft skills

Both presenters and attendees shared their approaches to demonstrating ROI.

Define an action plan based on the learning, then track your results on that action plan, with manager and team feedback on progress.

Conduct an upward feedback survey to rate the manager’s performance. Connect skills from training into the survey, to correlate efforts to those results.

Create forums for people to interact on what they learned, discuss situations.

Conduct 30/30s: Spend 30 minutes reviewing the past 30 days and and 30 minutes on what you will focus on the next 30 days.

Include soft skills competencies in Performance Review.

Perform pre & post tests to measure knowledge.

Prof. Van Kleeck takes an operational approach, by evaluating incremental improvements you get and costs you incur if you don’t develop these skills. Good coaching will make a difference in improving performance and employees will leave if they don’t get good coaching. A rule of thumb he uses with engineers is their portfolio of work needs to be worth 10x their salary. So improvements in that output can be attributed to training and coaching. And if you lose staff, the cost of replacing and ramping an employee means it can take a year to contribute at that 10x level. You need to be more creative in other functional areas that are less quantifiable. For example, in HR, you could measure churn reductions or increased job satisfaction.

Ways L&D professionals can facilitate the development process

Often the focus tends to be on the senior leadership level, but lower-level managers is where the rubber hits the road. L&D should also focus on developing these managers to lead their staff.

Make staff development a component of the annual performance plan for managers.

Engage multiple levels of leaders in developing an individual. The immediate manager has a good view of performance, the skip level manager can provide better mentoring opportunities.

Leadership and management courses such as those offered through Coursera can build needed skills and provide support at scale.

Once you have gotten dressed, have you thought, "exactly what is missing?". Although having appealing clothes and matching shoes is wonderful, your outfit isn't complete. The perfect solution to the dilemma is probably jewelry. One strategic piece could bring a huge outfit together.

Work with a polishing cloth for all your jewelry pieces. This assists make your jewelry shiny without resorting to chemical cleansers, which can harm the pieces. Just use both the-sided polishing cloth to polish your jewelry exactly the same you might polish a glass. Work with a two-sided cloth to completely clean your jewelry, one for polishing, along with the other for shining.

Some precious metals and gems should be kept clear of moisture and humidity. Store jewelry in the sealed box or drawstring pouch for the very best protection. Continued contact with humidity extremes or air causes metals typically employed in jewelry to tarnish. It will be easy to polish precious metals to take out tarnish, but non-precious metals may lose their coating, showing the copper metal beneath.

Every component of jewelry should endure an existence-time. Search for a dealer you can rely to actually have a quality item at the reasonable price. A very high-quality piece is a that may be well-constructed and also of superior workmanship. The jeweler that you just find the item from should provde the reputation of the piece, with regards to who managed to get, and, if there are actually stones about the item, where they originated. You must buy quality jewelry to help you pass it down for an heirloom.

While you are buying jewelry in silver, be sure you examine the piece closely, and take along a magnet for metal testing. Use the magnet with you to identify fake components of jewelery, silver will not likely keep to the magnet. There ought to be a stamp hallmarked saying such as .925 sterling or ster, on silver When you don't see this sort of mark, you should reconsider the buying. Normally, this is an indicator how the piece is fake.

You have to know how to look after every piece with your jewelry collection. Not a variety of jewelry might be cleaned just like. A method that may be effective for one kind of stone or metal could actually damage another. Meet with a knowlegeable jeweler unless you know the easiest way to deal with your jewels.

The brooch adds a unique touch and a certain amount of your style to the outfit. You have the use of placing it close to your hip, or at your waist near the center.

As you have seen in this article, jewelry can be the prefect accessory to enhance any outfit. There are many different styles of jewelry to make you look classy, professional or fun. When you're ready to walk out, adorn yourself with some jewelry to actually look your best. chocolatediamonds.kinja.com/chocolate-diamonds-real-earth...

On several occasions over recent years whilst driving between Alnwick and Longhoughton I've glanced up at the old observatory on Ratcheugh Crag and thought 'that looks interesting, I'll have to get up there one day and see it at close hand'. I finally made the effort last year, got half-way there and found the bridleway closed. Three weeks ago I tried again.

From below it looks quite craggy and atmospheric and I fully expected to find some sprawling ruin, neglected by the modern world and evocative of its time. Instead, what you see from the road is just about all you get... and what's more it's rather twee and sterile. It would probably look better with a decent sunset behind it.

This Week in Bristol, Indiana: 06-16-2014. Fizz Boom Read Bristol Indiana Reading Program this summer emphasizes science. Program Director Miss Desi has set up a table of experiments for budding scientists. Children stopping in at the library can try their hand at one of the experiments, which vary each week. This past week, a group of local summer school students came to the library to participate in the program, as new library staff member Carol looks on. Using basic ingredients they had fun determining what result they thought they would get and what they actually got. Sidewalk work continues in the Town of Bristol, as Young Services does their contracted work to repair the most neglected walks in town. $32,615.00 was appropriated, which at $5 a sq. foot should repair approximately 6500 square feet of sidewalks. According to Town Manager, Bill Wuthrich in response to citizen queries, those being done are the walks planned to be updated in 2014, but additional area walks will be surveyed and repaired in years to come. Some having sidewalks repaired also have chosen to pay Young Services themselves to add some additional sidewalks to their property.

Tega and Simon set out dozens of pitfall traps in strategic locations to get and estimate of beetle populations. They checked the traps frequently so their bugs wouldn't die in the heat. Tega is bundled up for the first survey of the morning, but it will soon be really hot.
