A richly detailed mosaic ceiling vault curves overhead, its surface covered in intricate scrollwork, floral rosettes, and a Greek key border rendered in warm ochre, coral, sage green, and cream tones. At the center of the composition, a golden urn rises from an ornate cartouche flanked by symmetrical acanthus scrolls and blooming flowers, drawing the eye upward along the graceful line of the arch. Two dark archways frame the base of the vault, hinting at the grand scale of the room beyond. The sheer density of pattern, geometric borders, classical motifs, and painterly shading, speaks to the level of craftsmanship poured into every inch of the ceiling.

hated by some because of the connotations of governmental mismanagenent, corruption and greed. almost all of us really hate the intrusion of these galvanised, assembled steel structures. alien like, scattered across the surface of the earth. scarring the landscape, 'an ugly necessity' someone said: energy needed, wanted by the people and that life supporting necessity exploited by others

reminds me of the meccano set i was given as a child. there's beauty within these gentle soulless giants

under the silver coloured structure, positioning, to find almost perfect symmetry. on my back, at peace, in some strange space. hum of the electrical current overhead, wind howling, aluminium cables slightly swaying

then i get up and realise people are staring at me

The plan of the tombs is an open courtyard surrounded by chambers that contained one or more burials.

These limestone tombs, are painted to simulate alabaster and marble.

They are decorated with multi-colored geometric patterns and fine fresco ornaments.

The tombs at Anfushi, date back to the third century BC, about 250 BC, with the late Ptolemaic and early Roman eras.
