This is a re-post from early December. Unfortunately, I deleted this image by mistake shortly after its sharing. I decided to post this capture again because it fits recent postings. Thank you for those who noticed this work. I am grateful.

The windows on the left are meant to represent the Basalt columns found at a variety of sites around the country.

Textures for Tuesday. I find nature's many varied textures beautiful and photogenic.

Hmmm, any idea where this is? A rugged mountainside reflected in calm waters. An iconic destination.

Would make a good jigsaw puzzle.

Thanks for taking a look!

La photo de rue, c'est parfois aussi simple que des motifs géométriques...

(vous aurez remarqué que le petit panneau "interdiction de stationner" a perdu opportunément son bleu ; c'est voulu pour l'intégrer dans l'ensemble).

Architecture – Modern

This is a seventh series of buildings (some as photographed), glass panels, abstract shapes formed from buildings. Most are in London, although they could be any city. I have not named any building, nor have attempted to find Architects or Designers. I have just altered things to my own taste, nothing is sacrosanct, nothing lasts for ever, new ideas quickly become old as will these images be the moment I post them. Please enjoy.

Passiflora, known also as the passion flowers or passion vines, is a genus of about 550 species of flowering plants, the type genus of the family Passifloraceae. They are mostly tendril-bearing vines, with some being shrubs or trees. They can be woody or herbaceous.

Every year, I take a few shots of our Lantana blooms because it's hard not to. This is probably my favorite one so far... :)

A good weekend to you!

the city of arts and sciences in valencia, a cathedral of glass and steel, where light dances with geometry. the morning sun throws bold shadows across the floor, lines cutting through space like verses in a poem. figures walk in the distance, caught between the present and the timelessness of this architectural wonder.

the dome looms to the left, a silent guardian, while the vast windows frame the city outside, a world of modernity juxtaposed with human stillness. it feels like a theater, the shadows the actors, the light the script. you step into it and are part of the story, even if just for a fleeting moment.

Hope they don't mind: firstly taking photos of them and secondly making their environment black&white :D

the city of arts and sciences, valencia. a place where architecture becomes art and light dances on water. amidst the bold geometry and mirrored surfaces, a mother walks with her child. her red stroller, a defiant splash of color, speaks of humanity in a world of lines and shadows.

As blustery afternoon winds try their best to dislodge reluctant milkweed seeds from the security of their pod, exquisite geometric patterns are formed--almost like a ghostly white flower.

Framing of a mysterious gate decorated with geometric patterns.

Gates can mean different things depending on how you look at them.

A gate can represent a threshold or a boundary between two states of being or two different worlds.

Beyond architectural aspect; doors, gates, arches all represent transitioning from one place to another.

Between concrete ribs and morning light, journeys quietly begin

The Steintor U-Bahn station in Hanover features a distinctive architectural design created by the Milanese designer Alessandro Mendini in 1997. This station is known for its bold black and yellow checkerboard pattern, which creates a striking visual impact. Mendini's design consists of two narrow, identical structures facing each other, with a passage opening in the middle. The roofs are topped with yellow pointed hats, further adding to the unique appearance of the station (Source: regiopia.de + + + regiopia.com).

the evening sun hung low in the city of arts and sciences, casting long shadows over the polished tiles of valencia. the cyclists came silently, their wheels gliding through light and shadow, their outlines stretching far behind them. the modern arches and geometric lines framed the scene, the architecture as much a part of the moment as the figures in motion. the sun, piercing through the skyline, broke into a starburst, bathing the world in sharp contrasts. there was no sound but the hum of tires and the whisper of a fading day. it was a fleeting moment—of rhythm, reflection, and the quiet poetry of movement.

within the striking architecture of the oculus in new york city, a lone figure walks through the interplay of light and shadow on the tiled floor, caught between worlds of clarity and mystery. the sharp lines and dramatic contrast of the space create a delicate balance — a dance between presence and absence, reality and abstraction. as she moves forward, her silhouette merges with the dark shadows, suggesting both purpose and anonymity. the soft transitions of light invite the viewer to ponder: is she stepping into the light or fading into the darkness? a moment of introspection and hidden stories unfolding in one of the city's most iconic spaces.

These elongated glasses - with geometric designs loaded with symbolism such as rungs, circles, trophy heads, stars, chevrons, wavy lines, chakanas and other geometric lines that refer to mountains and water - were used in rituals where toasts with chicha or other sacred liquids were toasted. During these ceremonies, social bonds and commitments were established.

she stood still, map in hand, her fingers tracing paths that twisted and turned, just like the alleys of palma. the plaza mayor was nearby, but it might as well have been miles away in her mind. sunlight cut through the shadows of the old streets, her silhouette cast sharply onto the patterned tiles beneath her feet.

a tourist, no doubt, searching for direction in a city where the streets seem to have a will of their own. the grid of the tiles below her mirrored the confusion—orderly but endless, a maze of lines leading everywhere and nowhere.

the photograph captures that moment of pause, the stillness of someone caught between where they are and where they want to be. palma does that to you, makes you lose yourself before you can find your way again.
