SN: Cycas Revoluta, Cycadaceae Family
This Palm has its origin in the Ryukyu Islands in Southern Japan. Although called Palm it doesn't belong to the Palmaceae family. Nowadays is disseminated all over. Produces a center of future leaves looking like a cabbage. It is quite attractive.
The Sago Palm is one of the most widely grown houseplants in the world because of its attractive, easy-care habit. It's a cycad, not an actual palm. The thick, shiny-green fronds have a slightly cascading appearance and they arise from a stout, brown, textured truck. When it’s container-grown, it performs well in any bright, sun-filled indoor space. This slow-growing evergreen plant is moderately cold hardy (to zone 8) and it’s native to southern Japan. Easy to care for, it prefers a well-drained potting mix or sandy soil when planted outside in southern zones. Sago Palm makes it easy to add a touch of greenery to your indoor living space.

All the photos I present were taken on the beaches of Taormina and its surroundings (Sicily-Italy); I made photos related to "beach photography" (a genre similar to "street photography");
... I photographed young and old people ... with a great desire for the sea and a great desire to dive into the sea to swim (even if the sea water is still a little cold now ...); I made some photo-portraits of people I didn't know, I thank them very much for their sympathy and their availability; I tried to capture the essence of minimal photographic stories, collected walking along the beaches ... in search of fleeting moments ...
I used a particular photographic technique for some photographs at the time of shooting, which in addition to capturing the surrounding space, also "inserted" a temporal dimension, with photos characterized by being moved because the exposure times were deliberately lengthened, they are confused -focused-imprecise-undecided ... the Anglo-Saxon term that encloses this photographic genre with a single word is "blur", these images were thus created during the shooting phase, and not as an effect created subsequently, in retrospect, in the post-production

Tutte le foto che presento sono state realizzate sulle spiagge di Taormina e dintorni (Sicilia-Italia); ho realizzato foto riconducibili alla “beach photography” (un genere affine alla “street photography”);

Should I post this or move on! That seemed to be the question I've been facing on this image; but not only this image, images of this genre in general. Ali or "Ali-1963" is by far one of the best on Flickr and her work has always been a source of inspiration. So - from the start it's a tough act to follow as they say. I've made a few of these and I've never been really happy with the result except for maybe a couple. Recently I shot a few of my backyard and I was bound and determined to smile if it took all night - which it almost did. I came back this morning after receiving an email from a different Ali, "Allison Ryder" that made me think about trying new things on flickr and seeing where it goes and the reluctance and reserve that's felt in the process. Well - that's what it's all about and what better venue than this group 'Slider Sunday"
I showed this to Marybeth and she twitched her nose and tilted her head (not good.) If no-one comments or favs this I'll understand and won't be put off - see we all come with a little bit of that fear and reluctance; but, I did what made me smile!
Happy Slider Sunday - HSS

This beautiful plant or vegetable commonly known as a tomato plant, which belongs to the nightshade family, Solanaceae. The species originated in Central and South America. Some days you just know nature is going to put on a show. On the day this photo was taken, I knew an excursion up Grey Mountain to view the sunset would yield something extra special and it did. Light sneaking through cloud and rain falling on far off mountains seemed to both illuminate and reveal the City of Whitehorse where it rests nestled between mountains in the Yukon River Valley. The view was spectacular!
La Baigneuse de Henry Murail (1932-2012) offre aux petits inquisiteurs en ré-écriture artistique, sociologique, et historique un sujet de choix par son caractère androgyne. What else ? ben on s'en fout. Paix à son âme d'artiste, décédé dans la ville où je vis.

My grandson Rylan on the left and his brother Camden on the right. I could not believe that Rylan caught himself and did not take a dive in the river. Daddy would not have been happy when it was time to go home in his new BMW LOL
As I have mentioned it was a challenge to photograph the boys playing in the river when this river has a large canopy of trees overhead and this lens was a struggle in these conditions.
I apologize I was not online the last few days. My son hijacked my pc. LOL I will catch up with everyone. Thanks so much to all of my friends for the kind time you take to visit, your truly thoughtful comments a& favs. It means the world to me, especially on the photos of my family when I know this genre is one I am not that skilled at. I hope to get better :D
