Standard Stamp Mill. Bodie CA.

This is the generator inside an SD70MAC locomotive, it's at least 4 or 5 feet in diameter and driven by a 4,000 HP diesel engine on the other side. Above it are the filters and blower system to cool the generator.

The radiator air goes out through the wall. I welded up a funnel that has a piece of rubber connecting it to the radiator mount. I also built the riser. It needed to be raised up to clear the cement foundation.

It also makes it a lot easer to maintain. That is a Perkins diesel.

Gaza Barracks near Tonbridge was one of many barracks constructed in 1938 as the threat of war was imminent. As was often the case, Royal Engineers constructed the infrastructure, with a local contractor completing the erection of buildings; a cheap and quick timber clad frame with corrugated asbestos sheet roof, typical of the era. With large workshops and accommodation for up to 10 Officers and nearly 200 other ranks, the barracks was home to transport units, latterly accommodating personnel from search light batteries stations locally. After the war, the War Department retained the barracks as a depot for equipment due to be disposed of following the war. It was sold in 1960 and has remained in private hands since.

The original buildings remain in apparently great condition. Some have been demolished through mixture of poor condition and Council insistence (the owners can only build a new building if they demolish an old one).

The site does remain in private hands and there are tenant business occupying most of the units. This was a permission visit and tour with the owner, who appears happy to show people with a legitimate interest around this unique site.

Thursday 22nd April 2010, First job on the Thurs morning was to fit the flange pipes into the cooling knuckle, now each pipe has rings on like a piston and fits closely into the bores on the knuckle, I had to compress the rings with jubilee clips and tap the pipes in with a hammer as seen here.

Generator is the new book from Sigbjørn Lilleeng. It is a science fiction story with elements of drama, action and comedy. Birk has a boring job in a perfume factory with a lot of secrets.

Once the malted barley is dried, it's time to get the fermenting on! Different distilleries use different timings and temperatures, but they all basically do the same thing. Throw some barley in a vat, add water, add yeast.

Laphroaig cooks their wort for about 35 hours, then sells off the remains of the barley to cattle farmers and distills the liquid. Before it is distilled, it is a "beer like" substance, missing the rather important flavor of hops. Laphroaig offers a taste during their tour (something that other distilleries wouldn't do), the "beer like" liquid is flat and the taste is... well, not very good.

If you put your hand into this vat and waft the air to your face, it burns. The body really doesn't like taking in such carbon-dioxide rich air!
