I spotted this wind generator today, it is located along the Ballyknocken road of the Belfast road. It was snowing,and standing next to this gargantuan machine was awesome...

The old one rotted away, so it was time to build a new an improved one. This one features pressure treated replaceable legs (that was how the bottom of the old one rotted as it was sitting on dirt), a metal roof (the old one was made of recycled OSB and shingles that rotted out spectacularly), and instead of single doors (which made the old shed doors sag), this one has double doors on each side. Plus a built in prop stick to keep the roof up while refueling. The plan is to put this one on top of bricks instead of bare dirt to keep it from sitting in moisture this time.

The generator mount is very solid as it picks up the 2 water pump bolts plus the front lower head bolt. The rear mount for the generator is made from 1/2 inch steel and welded to the lower plate that is fastened to the head bolt.

This is a sculpture made from some of the remains of the homopolar generator built by Mark Oliphant at the Australian National University. It was capable of producing currents of up to 2 million Amps.
