This image and the following shot illustrate how the effects of sun angle can generate considerable color differences on birds whose feather structure is conducive to iridescence effects. In this shot the sun is over my right shoulder. Both of the images of the same duck were processed as similarly as I could manage. Note especially the change of head color.

I don't think this quite conveys the sense of awe and fear I had standing under this giant metal....whatever...suspended from the ceiling in a building so precariously held together.

Artificial intellegence - computer generated images - words that make creative types nervous. I had a chance to experiement with this stuff the other evening and found the results to be fascinating and inspiring. I see it all as a powerfu;l new tool for artists and creative folks. The computer is given a prompt, and, based on a number of factors, it creates a series of images that can be strange, really messed up or beautiful... it all depends.

The image was based on my prompt "a panda driving a pink Nash Metropolitan convertible. The results are kind of mind-blowing and creepy and odd but also kind of great.

A wise man once said "the future is here, it's just not widely distributed." This image generating technology is going to be a major player in the future. This amazing technolggy is still in its infancy but its evolving rapidly and I am excited to see what I can do with it.

Coal hoppers

The O.H. Hutchings Electric Generating Station, located in Ohio, was once a prominent example of the United States’ reliance on coal power plants. The post-World World II years witnessed an insatiable demand for electricity propelled by rapid industrial, commercial, and residential development. To keep pace with the surging demand, Dayton Power & Light Company embarked on a colossal construction program, breaking ground for a large coal-fired power plant in 1946, which went online in 1948.

A combination of the need for additional costly environmental controls, rising costs because of an aging facility, and stagnant demand led to eroding profit margins, and the Hutchings facility was closed in 2015. The site is now being redeveloped.

Such a tight relationship between math and nature. The image was made strictly by manipulating mathematics. At no time did I input anything suggesting "plant".
