Being a Trekkie is always going to be somewhat geeky, especially penning a slam poem about Star Trek... LOL
The monthly Calgary poetry slam became a Geek Slam, a rather interesting evening, with some interesting outfits by some of the poets and other folks too...

Union-Tribune illustration for a story on "geek heroes," everyday people with no special powers except their obsession with a facet of pop culture or society. IIRC, the Trivialist is a socially challenged couch potato who knows a lot of unimportant stuff. For this series I deliberately swiped/paid homage to other comic artists (this one: Rob Liefeld). Pencil, then brush and ink. Colors were laid in FreeHand using Marvel Comics' Silver Age color palette (64 colors), printed using a coarse screen (40dpi), then each color plate (cyan, magenta, yellow) pulled into a corresponding color channel in Photoshop.
the most FUN I HAD IN YEARS.
I can't stop working on it! and then i realize, yes i like this. and i need sleep.
[224/365] Geek + Beer -- Ok, so this should be the 13th Day of Christmas, but I was running out of ideas of how to shoot beer. This packs a whole constellation of geekiness into one shot, including the beer (Guineess Black Lager), Star Wars mini LEGOs, a Deep Space Nine ornament, and the words of Stephen King.
Test roll with my new Rolleiflex 2.8GX and revealed a fault as the meter doesn't work in the middle focus range. It's a great camera but I still have a soft spot for my Yashica MAT 124G, perhaps I'm a little too thrifty?
