So I fired up the mac this morning and checked flickr and for some reason thought it would be a good idea to start down the road of a photo for every day of this new year. Lets see how far this goes!

Alison and I walked one of the circular routes from the village this morning - new year, fresh air, exercise, etc, etc. We stopped at Luscombe Cross to watch a 100 or so lapwings fly up from the field where hopefully this time next year the Totnes community windfarm will be underway. This gate seemed to be a suitable subject for the new year. The old gatepost has done it's work and been superceded by a new one - complete with shiny new baling twine to hold the gate up. Happy new year one and all - may your post last the full distance!

One of several such stones that once enclosed a small parcel of lane to the south of the main road at Prince Hall on Dartmoor.

A Dartmoor bridge dated 1845 and still marked as 'Clapper Bridge' on OS maps.

This was on Paradise Lane towards Webb Lane in Hall Green.

It started at Highfield Road near Yardley Wood Station.

Well these rocks are well down from the Manaton summit, they are in the grounds of Ebworthy. Ebworthy Rocks perhaps?

Entrance to walled garden

These plants just seemed to be growing from cracks in the stone. What a beautiful adornment to your boundary wall!

P1740300 - It is a gatepost gate latch, that's all nothing more nothing less. BUt I'll put some context around it, there's NO gate or other gate fittings, the person who paint this wall has an eye for detail, but why did he/she make it stand out when it clearly has no use, why not paint it the same as the wall and hide it!

So bit of a B&W day and out and about with the P&S TZ5, which I must admit I still love dearly, not only for the underwater stuff but wandering around the surface, plus my attachment to it for improving my photography (well I hope it's improved) during in my time on Flickr.

Oh look textured background and it stands out from the background :)

SOOC

TZ5 in B&W mode (manual settings) (1/125) with auto face detect on, which lost the detail in the railing intentional
