Morro Bay State Park,
Morro Bay, California
On a seldom-used trail and an old gatepost, someone felt the urge to notify others of these two native plants ahead: Yerba Buena and California Mugwort.
Earlier this year someone deliberately pulled this old gate-post over with a tractor, presumably trying to steal it. I reported this to Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, and directed them to it. It has now been restored.

I found a granite gatepost on Tuesday and the sun was shining onto it. So being me, I got up nice and close for a macro shot of our very special granite.
Sorry the article is in French, but it gives far more information than the English version.

Got a busy week coming up so with the weather looking the way it did today I had another run to Steart to try for the Short-eared Owls again. There were at least 3 owls hunting - outnumbering the people watching them.
At one point I was on my own and got myself wedge down next to a gatepost near a field where some of the birds came together. They were in a vertical column calling, that kind of barking cough that they do, and then broke of and this bird on coming low was heading my way. It kept coming head on and I tried to keep below the fence line whilst trying to get some shots. I got some head on shots which aren't so good however I'm pretty sure that the owl was making to perch on the post I was behind - it couldn't quite make out what was going on behind the post as I tried to keep as hidden as possible and it only pulled away when only 30 feet or so away. Such beautiful birds.
Not sure this is an improvement on the last owl shot but it is different.
Large It!
We put some feed out for the birds yesterday and along came a whole load of sparrows and the Blue Tit - still haven't managed a photo of it yet!

Oh my goodness, first 50 days in the bag! This is going a lot faster than I thought (I'm sure it'll stall/slow down at some point) and I'm enjoying it a LOT more than I did last time when I tried it. I only got to 107 and then gave up.
I'm sure the better feeling this time is all due to my wonderful contacts, who keep coming and always have something positive to say. Thank you all very much, every single visit is much appreciated! xoxo

Oh, and I forgot to mention! Today my stream reached 25 000 views overall, since I started this stream in May 2011! :) Thank you very much to everyone who's taken part in those numbers.
Lots of love!
Three shots taken at the gate as I was leaving Yarty Moor SWT reserve on Saturday. The lizard was basking on the gatepost, and seemed totally unconcerned by my presence. While watching him for a few minutes, I spotted a Volucella zonaria - Britain's largest hoverfly at 20 mm long and bulky with it - on the bramble next to the gate.

Six arches, a bramble and (just) an old gatepost… a final view of one of South-east England’s finest architectural triumphs – the Ouse Valley railway viaduct near Balcombe. Just half a dozen here, but this thrilling construction comprises 37 glorious arches.
The viaduct, which is 29 metres high and 450 metres long, is a Grade II listed building and was restored in 1996 with grants from the Railway Heritage Trust and English Heritage, with a contribution from West Sussex County Council. It’s still in use, with around 110 trains a day passing across it on the Brighton main line.
Windermere Terrace, a quiet access road which leads to the historic Princes Park, Liverpool, England, has managed to retain a lot of its original period charm and character.
It features a number of impressive former merchants villas and town houses from the 1850s and 1860s, most of which are now English Heritage listed.
Photographed from just inside the park (note the park entrance gateposts in silhouette in the foreground).
