I did like the way the lichen has completely covered the ball finial on the otherwise elegant gatepost of the Haa of Sand.

These images come from a revisit to magpie mine near Sheldon near Ashford in the Water in Derbyshire - close to Bakewell. I was looking for unusual images and even tried a few HDR shots. Magpie Mine is a strangely remote yet beautiful place with a fascinating history and is well worth a visit.
The gateposts at St George Park are the only Victorian feature left to St George Park. One of the walkers told us that the gates had been taken aware in WWII to support the war effort.
