With typical American kindness and generosity, we were refused point blank, by the lady organiser, to pay for anything.

Once invited down to the rodeo, we established this was an annual event for local farmers/ranchers to carry out ear-marking, branding, dehorning and castration of the young bull calves.

Posing with Roger was a bundle of fun, but when I sat on his lap and he began moving my lips I knew it was time for a sharp exit.

Roger DeCourcey has established himself as one of Britain's leading ventriloquist entertainers, and two highly successful seasons in Las Vegas plus an engagement at the giant O'Keefe Centre in Toronto, Canada have added an international reputation to his credit.

He has appeared several times at the London Palladium, including a Royal Command Performance, and has starred in theatres and night clubs throughout the UK including summer seasons and pantomimes.

Roger was born in London and started in show business as an Opera singer. As a singer he moved to the West End stage, appearing in such musicals as Sweet Charity,Two Cities and Company. It was over an engagement in the domestic cabaret circuit that he discovered "The Bear" and he then decided to develop an act around ventriloquism.

The irrepressible "Nookie Bear" first delighted viewers in the TV Series "New Faces" from which Roger went on to win the 1976 Grand Final.

Since then TV appearances have been numerous including his own series and guest spots on virtual very light entertainment show.

Roger continues to enjoy outstanding success in all spheres of the entertainment industry and is very much in demand traveling worldwide to various functions both as a cabaret artist, and after-dinner speaker.

Roger is a keen golfer and was Captain of the Variety Club of Great Britain Golfing Society in 1992 and Captain of the Vaudeville Golfing Society in 1996.

He was made King Rat of the Grand Order of Water Rats in 1994 which is the highest position in the Order. This meant a full year of charity work.

Roger has now opened a management agency representing all forms of entertainment Dick Horsey Management Ltd and has sole representation of Rick Wakeman whilst also representing some of this country’s top entertainers.

We pretty much gatecrashed this thing at half one in the morning, but the people were lovely and plied us with excellent potato salad.

Also: I think the house is a converted old railway station. But I was pretty drunk, so maybe it's not.

Roderick David "Rod" Stewart, CBE (born 10 January 1945)[2] is a British singer-songwriter and musician, born and raised in North London, England and currently residing in Epping.

He is of Scottish and English[3] ethnicity.

With his distinctive raspy singing voice, Stewart came to prominence in the late 1960s and early 1970s with The Jeff Beck Group and then Faces.

He launched his solo career in 1969 with his debut album An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down (US: The Rod Stewart Album).

His work with The Jeff Beck Group and Faces proved to be influential on the formation of the punk rock and heavy metal genres.[4][5]

With his career in its fifth decade, Stewart has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best selling artists of all time.[6]

In the UK, he has garnered six consecutive number one albums, and his tally of 62 hit singles include 31 that reached the top 10, six of which gained the number one position.[7]

He has had 16 top ten singles in the U.S, with four of these reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked him the 17th most successful artist on the "The Billboard Hot 100 Top All-Time Artists".[8] He was voted at #33 in Q Magazine's list of the top 100 Greatest Singers of all time.[9]

In 1994, Stewart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.[10]

The event, which featured a host of big names from the industry speaking and advising start ups as well as other businesses, is now in its third year.

Today’s schedule included round table discussions on big issues such as the state of the start up environment in Europe today as well as chats on mobile payments and the relationships between media and the tech world.

Pinterest was founded by Ben Silbermann, Paul Sciarra, and Evan Sharp 9of course you all knew that) and today at the Web Summit in Dublin I had the opportunity to photograph Paul Scirra together on stage with Michael Birch (the founder of Bebo)

i, sort of, gatecrashed at this wedding. the doors of the church were closed and when the wedding march began these two women opened the door to reveal the bride. judging from these two women, the door was quite heavy.

30/05/2022, during the 1,000 km drive from Koper, Slovenia, to Detmold, Germany, I drove off the motorway in search of a coffee.

In the little town of Pfarrwerfen, Austria, I found the delightful Hasselwanter bakery and cafe.

The only other customers were a group of distinguished locals, most wearing the traditional 'Tracht' (Austrian costume), and having a beer.

We fell into conversation and they announced they were holding a wake, following the death, and funeral (that afternoon) of a friend.

Despite wanting to get back to the drive, I spent a pleasant hour or so with them, putting the world to rights.

This is something I got the idea for yesterday, it's basically a small grenade launcher, low-tech but reliable! Perfect for a SpecOps Unit. The drum holds 4 rounds and it can accept a variety of ammunition types, it also allows for a specific firing pattern and/or user-selection of which round to fire. It can't be reloaded in the field but due to it's simple nature they can be safely discarded on the battlefield if needed.

As before, this will be compatible with most 1/144th Gunpla Model kits that have a "trigger finger hand" as it uses the same setup as the modular kit with as can be seen here, worked like a charm!

Martin Amis gatecrashes a photo featuring writers and poets reading from those post war US and UK writers known as 'The Movement'.

They are [L-R] James Fenton, Craig Raine, Zach Leader , Robert Conquest [seatd wheelchair] , M.Amis, Blake Morrison, and Anthony Thwaite . Clive Wilmer also in attendance but not pictured here.

Fenton read from Martin Amis's father Kingsley's work and 93 yr old Robert Conquest was a close friend of his Larkin and his father. Amis was accompanied by his wife the writer Isabella Francesca.

The Movement Poets: A Reading aka 'The Movement Reconsidered Event' at The LRB Bookshop London Wc1. 02 June 2009 featuring James Fenton, Craig Raine, Robert Conquest, Blake Morrison, Anthony Thwaite and Clive Wilmer

Zachary Leader chaired a discussion and reading around The Movement Reconsidered: Essays on Larkin, Amis, Gunn, Davie and Their Contemporaries, a collection of original essays by distinguished poets, scholars and critics from Britain and America.

The Movement was the pre-eminent poetical grouping of post-war Britain and the source of much controversy: Leader?s aim is to complicate the extreme and reductive formulations of defenders and detractors alike.

On a tip-off, I have gatecrashed the Barmitzva of the great grandson to the eminent Rosh Yeshiva Horomo.

They treated me kindly and even offered to join the meal, but I took my few shots and done the decent thing, scarpered, with the sense of a lucky thieve.
