Today I arrived a bit early at the RDS (7am) where the 2012 Web Summit was to take place and therefore had the opportunity to photograph the venue before the action commenced.
The event, which featured a host of big names from the industry speaking and advising start ups as well as other businesses, is now in its third year.
Today’s schedule included round table discussions on big issues such as the state of the start up environment in Europe today as well as chats on mobile payments and the relationships between media and the tech world.

This is the 18-pole Kayam Concert Tent at the Gatecrasher Summer Sound System 2001. See if you can spot the two other people stood on the roof.
Sometimes it takes a long time to get around to stitching a panorama, this one needed the photometric optimisation from recent versions of hugin.
Lots of stitching errors as it was bouncing up and down in the breeze at the time - This is a 9000m² trampoline. The nadir has been roughly patched-in.

The Pavilion officially opens on 20th July. I tried, unsuccessfully to gatecrash in a party on a rainy and windy summer evening last night. Saw most of the famous art/architecture people (a bit like Oscars I suppose) and lots of umbrellas. I feel the English weather was trying to tell Gehry something.
This is Gehry's first building in England (a pre-condition for all invited architects) and according to him, inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's wooden catapult and the striped walls of beach huts in summer. Steel supports are covered in the Douglas Fir.

Stichting Prospero is sinds 1997 een begrip op het gebied van bijzondere jazzconcerten in Den Haag en omstreken. Elke eerste woensdagavond van de maand biedt Prospero midden tussen de moderne beeldhouwkunst van Museum Beelden aan Zee de crème de la crème van de Nederlandse jazz.
Het nieuwe Prospero-seizoen in het Beelden aan Zee ging onlangs van start met Eric Vloeimans' Gatecrash. Trompettist Eric Vloeimans is in Nederland één van de meest gelauwerde jazzmuzikanten van zijn generatie. Dat heeft niet alleen te maken met zijn uitzonderlijk talent, maar zeker ook met zijn drang naar vernieuwing. Hij gaat graag met allerlei muzikanten van uiteenlopende muzikale achtergrond de uitdaging aan.
Met Gatecrash ging Vloeimans twee jaar geleden op de elektrische toer: een vers gerekruteerde band waarin vooral pianist Jeroen van Vliet excelleert. Tijdens het concert in Beelden aan Zee kreeg het publiek een voorproefje van de nieuwe Gatecrash-cd die later deze maand officieel wordt gepresenteerd.

In his opinion, a picture of sartorial elegance who's dry wit is lost on Dynamite Dayle...
... but in Dynamite Dayle's view he's a badly dressed git who's filthy quips and single entendres are disgusting rather than funny.
This was the last concert of Kytecrash. After seeing them at North Sea Jazz earlier this year, we just had to see them again, and it was superb again!
