— Ilyinsky Gate area - one of the central squares of Moscow in China-town between Ilinka, Lubyanka travel and the New and the Old Square. It refers to the Tverskoy District. On the square stands a monument to the heroes of Plevna. It was founded in 1934 on the site of demolished Ilyinskikh gate from which got its name.

I tend to avoid large cities as much as possible but yesterday I had to go to San Francisco so at the end of the day I did a little exploring and found Fort Point and a good vantage point to take a few shots of the bridge while the fog was rolling in and the sun was setting. The light was awesome, the view great (if you like fog and not being able to see large structures like the Golden Gate Bridge!) and I had some fun even though I was in a city packed with people like sardines in a can. *quivers* Saturday I have to go back so maybe then I can get some shots of the actual bridge (or maybe I'll high tail it out of there as fast as possible!).
Anyone know of a good Japanese restaurant in San Francisco? Or any other good places to eat that won't require a second mortgage on my house??
Have a great weekend!

The boom gates go down across Parramatta Road Level Crossing (Sydney) in preparation for Millennium set M24 to cross with run 55, on its way to Clyde station. At the time of posting, the Carlingford line had been closed to heavy rail traffic for exactly a year, with light rail conversion works well underway.
Close to home.

One of my first shots from yesterday evening. I had to stop on my way to Carhead rocks to photograph this weathered gate. I thought over Owler Tor made a great backdrop. I was mindful of of how a wide angle lens would distort the scene. I wanted to use a longer focal length to keep a natural perspective but also to bring the distant Tor closer to the gate. In the end 30mm wasn't long enough and the angle of the post further created the wide angle illusion. I really needed to change lenses and stand in the road. You live and learn though.
Happy Holidays and best wishes to you and your family for a great 2015!
The Golden Gate Bridge is rapidly becoming my muse, my inspiration. Every time I show up, the bridge rewards me with a marvelous photo op, different from before that keeps me coming back. Here is a grand, almost classic, sunrise with the bridge floating on the marine layer with the San Francisco skyline in the background.
When you walk through the infinity gate you leave behind you the existence of life, death and rebirth.
I tried SO HARD to get the red hand rail perfectly centered, but, alas! it was not to be.

the kissing gate along the becks. so named because only one person can go through at a time, as you follow a person through they turn around and you get a kiss, well i suppose that all depends on who you want to follow through. Langholm, dumfriesshire, scotland.
Finally got a chance to get back to the Golden Gate again last night! I had originally planned on shooting from Marshall Beach on the south side, but there was a high tide, and being by myself I had heard that it was dangerous, so I was starting to waffle, Once I saw the bank of fog starting to crawl over the city, I knew I wanted to get some fog shots, so I wound up here (Battery Wagner). Plus, there was a ton of traffic going into the city!
Lots of images to sort through, both before and after this...
Thanks for stopping by!
