You may remember doing this as a child on New Year’s Eve: drawing or writing in the air, using a sparkler. The ‘drawing’ is caused by something called a light aftermath, or better yet, the sparkler’s trail effect.

Somehow this goes well with yesterday's shot of a tractor pile. This is one of the entrances to our local arena, site of many a hockey game, curling bonspiel, and indoor rodeo.

I liked this when I shot it and still like it 20 months later - but there has never seemed to be a "right" time to post it. Until now.

black Garbage Bag in a Garbage Bin (with some GarBage in it)

#GB for #FlickrFriday

Saw this when we were out for a walk the other day

Some things make me wonder..such as this !!!

What it is...is a well-made box to hide the garbage tins ( dustbins...) ...and why on earth the owner draped it with this lovely red stuff... I have NO idea...It certainly caught my eye !

This beautiful painted rose hidden away on grim alley way in the Brisbane CBD. Artist unknown, but if you are it, please say hello in the comments. Photo available for licensing at PicFair: www.picfair.com/pics/015452498-beautiful-rose-graffiti-in...

The seedy side of Brisbane's Edison Lane. Garbage bins lined up at the rear of Newspaper House in the city's CBD. Warm sunlight fights its way into the dark corners.

Taken after sunset with the M.Zuiko 25mm f/1.2 hand held on a very wet rainy day in Summerside on Prince Edward Island. The fishing boats were berthed and everything felt wet as I listened to Phil Collins on the radio.

A pair of bins with lovely murals on them sit beneath the graffiti painted on the walls.

I love the Ricoh AF35, such a great p&s. But it might be time to change the seals!

Sorry I've been away for some time, folks. I was in what's called a "GADNA" week which prepares teens to serve in the Israeli Defence Force (army here is duty). It basically simulates one week of basic training. The week's climax was in the firing range where I took the chance to operate an armed M16. It was quite fun!

I think this is the first photo I've shot (with my SLR) where I've had both eyes open. This was the last frame I grabbed before I got scared and walked away :).
