Cumberland Gap
A mountain chain was slashed in twain
By swish of water's keen-edged sword
The wound was healed, the grass and grain,
And ferns and flowers, and trees explored
The rugged chasm and rocky slopes,
Now from the cliffs, eyes look beyond
The scenes below; the spirit gropes
And finds itself with beauty's wand.
While here, reflecting on the past,
We see a herd of buffaloes
Approach this gap, and as the last
Long column, grazing, slowing goes
On its long journey to the west
Strange men in sandaled feet, like ants,
Appear, and with their bows contest
The rights of whites as they advance.

From mount to mount our eyes take flight,
As beauty may depart on wings

The gap here is small, but noticable when compared to the prior photo.
There is some discussion about MacBook gaposis. I thought I'd document mine. The machine has performed perfectly for me for about ten days, so I'm reluctant to take my chances on repair/replacement, but it has noticable gaps in three places: The left and right edges of the keyboard platform, and the top of the screen bezel above the iSight. And I figure that if this is a manufacturing defect, it's better to get in on it early rather than late, before it worsens. So it's shipping back to get checked out.
A couple of guys and myself had made a friendly game of 8-ball an ongoing Monday afternoon activity.
Well first Monday in May both myself and one of the other guys both got bad colds. his worse than mine. Today we got back into the swing of things.
The Altos office personnel finally comprehended what we meant when we said they needed to buy a bridge. It was here today when we arrived.

The granite mile markers initially installed along the GAP Trail were inaccurately placed. The distances between most of the original marker locations were too great by 40 to 80 feet. Granite Mile Marker 136 on the Steel Valley section of the GAP is actually 137.3 miles from Mile Zero in Cumberland, Maryland. The first 129 Granite Mile Markers have been repositioned to reflect a more accurate trail mileage survey.
Granite Mile Marker 129's new placement is at Dead Man's Hollow in Liberty Borough. The rest of the granite markers between Dead Man's Hollow and Point State Park are subject to change because there are negotiations taking place that would alert the route past Dura-Bond in Liberty Borough and in the City of McKessport, to improve the GAP trail experience.
A decision has been made by the Regional Trail Corporation (RTC) to not reposition the Granite Mile Markers after Granite Mile Marker 129 until the route change issues are settled. For now, RTC has installed temporary white Carsonite mile markers between Granite Mile Marker 129 and mile marker 143 in Baldwin near the Hays bald eagle nest. Five more Carsonite mile markers are to be installed in Pittsburgh pending approval by the Pittsburgh Art Commission.
In an effect to reduce mileage confusion, the Granite Mile Markers beyond Granite Mile Marker 129 have been modified to reflect their correct mileages to the tenth.
Based on the new mileage measurements and the current GAP route, the mileage from Mile Zero in Cumberland MD to the The Point in Pittsburgh is 148.89 miles.

I love these bridges in the Gap! The Gap was one of the main things I wanted to do while in Ireland. It did not disappoint! Great weather for the whole walk. If you start from the south, it does one of reveals that I love: you walk up this hill and right when you get to the crest of the hill, this amazing view opens up. Jaw-dropping stuff. We walked the whole thing. I would highly recommend walking and taking your time, there is a lot to soak in.
Also, high praise to the Sony A7iii. This shot was back into the sun. It didn't really look like I got much of anything, but there is so much detail in the shadows and highlights you can pull out, it's incredible!
