It looked as if yesterday's sunset was going to be pretty spectacular, so I wandered off to Sandy Gap on Walney to bag a few shots; it didn't turn out to be as majestic as I'd hoped, but I snapped away regardless - this is arguably the best of a fairly average bunch - enjoy anyway!

The new Indian census(2011), which put the population at 1.2 billion, has revealed an alarming trend. Rising incomes only seem to accelerate gendercide – the evocative term for the selective abortion of girl foetuses. There were 945 girls per 1,000 boys in the 1991 census, 927 in 2001 and now 914. It's now a crisis and we need to move beyond just acknowledging the issue.The PC & PNDT Act 1994 prohibits any form of sex-determination practise and sex-selective abortion.
According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) of India; 89,546 cases of cruelty by husband and relatives; 21,397 cases of rape; 11,009 cases of sexual harassment and 5,650 cases of dowry harassment were reported in India during the year 2009.

This long gap or crevice in the ice was about 2 feet deep. It was about the length of a football field and divided the shore from the resevoir. A fascinating incident in nature it makes me think of the danger below.

There’s not much to this week’s teaser photo… simply another exterior shot of the now-former Southaven Gap FactoryStore, which of course is where we’re headed this Saturday. This was taken on January 11th, 2018, on what I thought would be my final visit to the store. Turns out, it wasn’t – so stay tuned for my photos from both the 11th and my final visit in the coming weeks…
I quite liked how this shot turned out, especially with the sky at dusk and the reflections of the store's lights on the wet road below! And yes, I am indeed just sticking this week's music recommendations over normal sentences. I've run out of ways to keep introducing them every week, and decided just to be lazy tonight. :P

Birling Gap, near Eastbourne in East Sussex, are part of the world famous Seven Sisters chalk cliffs, one of the longest stretches of undeveloped coastline on the south coast. This view shows the cliffs looking east towards the seven sisters.
Taken at the Sally Gap looking towards the Coronation Plantation and Sorrel Hill in the far distance. Despite the sunny appearance this was cold....very cold.

On the road to Sally Gap, there are spectacular views of the surrounding blanket bog and the Wicklow Mountains. Sally Gap is one of two east-to-west passes across the Wicklow Mountains. Sally Gaps is a cross-road that leads you North to Dublin, West to Blessington, South to Glendalough or East to Roundwood.
the Sally Gap got its road after the Irish rebellion of 1798. It was built by British Army forces looking to flush rebels from the hills, and to this day is known as the Military Road.
Whatever about giving the army a better view of the rebels, the Military Road certainly provides an enviable view of some of Ireland’s most filmed scenery.
Highlights of this winding, twisting feat of engineering include the Glencree valley, the dark waters of Lough Tay, Kippure Mountain and Glenmacnass Waterfall.
Two more unusual stops are Glencree’s Visitor Centre, originally built to house soldiers guarding the pass (and now a centre for Peace and Reconciliation), and the Glencree War Cemetery, a resting place for German soldiers who died in Ireland.
More gorges, gaps and chasms.

I've taken hundreds of photographs of Sycamore Gap in the 14 years I've lived here, thought I'd try an abstract version.
Gap Filler is a creative urban regeneration initiative started in response to the September 4, 2010 Canterbury earthquake, and revised and expanded in light of the more destructive February 22, 2011 quake. It is now administered by the Gap Filler Charitable Trust.
Gap Filler aims to temporarily activate vacant sites within Christchurch with creative projects, to make for a more interesting, dynamic and vibrant city.
With that in mind Gap filler I believe has created three sites filled with a stage area, seating and a piano. This one is at the Junction of Bower Ave and Marine Parade on the site of the demolished TJs Kazbah and opposite the now demolished Ozone.
They have really brightened the corner up and we just need a few people to gather and have a nice night of it.

So we completely found this gap on accident. We parked back behind this building that had a double set but were more interested in the gap they had off behind the building. Both the run up and landing were sketchy but Joe went for it anyway.

The Gap (between Prospectors Mountain & Albright Peak) - Captured alongside the Muti-use-pathway / Moose to Gros Venture Junction, which runs parallel to U.S. 191 / 89 / 26 (where "multiuse" is a very real thing), Albright View Overlook, Jackson, Wyoming (43.633551, -110.717264)
I'm not sure why the pull-off is called an overlook, since Albright View Overlook is at 6,500 feet, and Albright Peak (a mere 5.5 miles away) is 10,552 feet. So, you may not be looking up to see the peak, but you're certainly not looking down to see it.
