I have to have something to do at work when I'm bored

all kinds of bugs in the sunflower field.

we found munching on our Strawberries.

I thought they were sorta cute, sitting on the ground all fuzzy.

this particular fiddlehead resembles a snail shell, huh?

The red part, or pistils, is the "female" element of the flower.

The little melons arrive like this—all fuzzy (which is really only a polite way of saying "very hairy"). Sadly, some critter got to and destroyed the vine, and we only harvested one (sweet) melon. Alas! Next year I'll do better. I don't use pesticides and am not sure what it was that got this, but I'll have all winter to study up. It was fun while it lasted. :)

These little fuzzy feelers on this small cactus plant are NOT that fuzzy, they just look that way.
