Found this random peach colored iris in my back yard tonight. So I had to shoot it. Have a few naturey shots headed your way, allll irises, be warned.
We use to have some old books around the barn about some characters called, I believe, "Thelwell Ponies." This little charmer reminded me so very much of those old books!

Lawrence octave fuzz will articulate sounds you were not really aware about before. It’s not a toy as many other octafuzzes and provides a hardline tone. Not lacking a low end, it’s character stands out within a midrange. It’s gain structure is extremely dense with coarse grain.
Lawrence not only has a high octave on/off switch, it also has a high octave level knob. With pot set to maximum it brings a classic, screaming octafuzz sound, but you may want to blend just a little bit of the octave effect to your rhythm tone to unveil absolutely original character. There it shines.
Gain knob sets compression level and pressure of the fuzz, instead of a typical dirt-amount control. Tone knob lets you tame high-end or helps to acquire some sharpness, but won’t go nowhere out of a reasonable range. These controls are not very sensitive and let to tune in a precise tone. Volume knob is set to have a little boost available with gain at minimum or to blast with it’s full fuzz potential.

Artemisia: Where's the dignity in taking my picture with these dreaded knots, mum? Hurry up and finish brushing it all out!
Me: Shoosh and smile for the camera.
And that's all you need to build a distortion pedal.
In this case, this original Arbiter Fuzz Face reissue sounded like ass (apparently like all of the reissues). I swapped the transistors (that had hFE of 30 to 40) to higher gain AC128s and restored the resistor values to stock values. That did the trick.

Taken for Beginner's Daily Challenge: 'Bumpy'. My cat's brush tips in exterme close-up view. The lighting comes from a lamp at camera-right which one can see reflected in each tip (the center one shows it best) as well as the flash from my phone camera on continuous mode providing back light. The blue in the shadows is actually the case of my phone seen through the brush tines. The keen-eyed can see the camera lens from my phone in the top right corner of the picture.
