...and this is pretty much how it goes to this day.

This is milkweed plant on my grandmother's farm in MN. I remember when I was little and my mom went on some wild craft spree that involved gathering these, clearing out the fuzzy seeds and painting the inside and outside of the pods and stems. Then she put glitter and sequins on the insides of the pods. I can't remember her doing anything with them afterwards . . . . just a huge production of painting and flashing them out to the maximum glitz power.
