the tradition on may day morning, at least for many university students, is to stay up all night drinking, then everyone piles down to magdalen bridge, and the high street... the magdalen college men's choir then serenades the crowd from atop magdalen tower, ringing in the sunrise. this year there was also a very nice prayer given by an irish pastor.
in all, it's a very interesting juxtaposition, with all the college kids looking generally fairly drunk and/or ragged from being up all night -- though mostly all still in smart ball costume -- and the rest of oxford, all showered and shaved, sucking down their morning coffee (or tea) before shuffling off to work.
many people stop by to listen and dance to a variety of other musicians who set up at various spots around the city center, to ring in the month of may!

The Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter was recently overrun with heaps of these fuzz bombs. Some staff and volunteers are providing foster care for the kittens until they're eight weeks old and can be adopted. Chiquita's kittens are currently a dazed and confused eight weeks old.
