Re-united, I think for the first time since hauling the farewell BR 'Western' tour, the 'Western Finale' on 27th February 1977, D1023 'Western Fusilier' & D1013 'Western Ranger' depart from Kidderminster Town with the SVR's 1200 service to Bridgnorth on 30th September 2000. 'Fusebox' iOS carrying the headboard of that famous tour, which I think is now owned by the Western Locomotive Association, owners also of D1013. Note that every vantage point in every coach has at leat one head 'taking in the fumes! Copyright photograph John Whitehouse - all rights reserved

Happy Fence Friday!!!..HFF

This is Spider House in Austin, Texas. It's a restaurant, bar, coffee house and ballroom..:) It's close to the university of Texas campus, and like most places around the campus, it really started out as a house. I was there for the Fusebox festival, to take some shots of an event. I arrived about 20 minutes before the early show ended and just waited in the bar. Some of the people coming in after the show had a little too much to drink..:) But, it wasn't bad, they were still in the funny stage..:) About 4 girls saw me with my gear and wanted me to take their pictures, and they kept recruiting others to get into the pictures...lol..In all, I took about 20 shots of people I will never see again and who will never see the images I took..lol..

This festival is really taking a lot of my time. I don't see how people with jobs have the time to be on flickr..:))

Happy Easter everyone!

Getama is an old mattress and furniture factory, - initially producing mattresses with seaweed. Today the production has moved to modern facilities and local zealots are passionately devoted to re-open it as a local community centre for art and culture.

We went there to see an art exhibition, - and ended taking a closer look at the building.

The element heats the air

But it's still damp, cold and bare

You must wear

Another layer

In the shadow of an empire

The factory made

Can be heard in the arcade

Or stall owners who trade

Every grain must be weighed

In the shadow of an empire

The painted lady

By the little town hall

Shivers sadly, shoulders in shall

Hoping the kerb will crawl

Through the shadow of an empire

We are cast in a role

Like the fish are in a shoal

Leap the wear or forever toll

In the shadow of an empire

The filament shattered and broke

The fusebox it went up in smoke

Leave the premises so not to choke

On the shadow of an empire

On the sawdust, the circus band

Are heard rehearsing on the strand

By the lovers who understand

Every note must be planned

In the shadow of an empire

The pupil waves a seagull feather

The see-saw eats his shoes of leather

There's been a turn in the weather

In the shadow of an empire

The newborn in the hammock rocks

Below a bolted sky that unlocks

For the departing of the flocks

From the shadow of an empire

God loves a trier, an articulate liar

The auctioneer makes it clear

And booms "Can you bid any higher

Or is the gentleman at the back a buyer"

In the shadow of an empire

Just out of my hand, no preview taken. I think this little Ixus will become a dear friend.

I had to fix a fuse yesterday. The lights had gone *ping*.

Strolling along the sea wall at Teignmouth one May afternoon in 1976, mindful that maybe the approaching 1330 Paddington - Penzance may be 'Wizzo' hauled (it was a good bet at the time) when to my amazement the clay empties emerge from Parsons Tunnel with 'Fusebox' at the helm. It is not often you get such a good surprise! For the uninitiated, this is Class 52 No. 1023 'Western Fusilier' heading the Etruria - St. Blazey china clay empties. And for anyone interest, the 1330 had 'Gauntlet' up front! Oh! Happy Day!! Copyright Photograph John Whitehouse - all rights reserved

I found this on the floor@ walking trail after a long herping night. I simply shoot 3-4 shots and let it be.
