The utilitarian pavilion, bar and function room building at Dill Hall Lane, Clayton-le-Moors home to Enfield Cricket Club. In 2017, Enfield took £250,000 over the bar; a tribute to the club committee's hard work in ensuring a constant flow of bookings. Captured during a seven-wicket defeat by Lancashire League rivals Walsden.

Opting to bat, Enfield struggled for runs. Professional Shashrika Pussegolla hit a fairly laboured 78 but the next highest contribution was extras (21), a reflection of weak batting. Walsden were in no hurry to reach their modest target. After taking 2-28, Jake Hooson opened the batting and top-scored with 67 not out. Nick Barker departed three runs shy of a half-century. Thankfully, professional Umesh Karunaratne wasn't in a mood to dawdle and injected some urgency in hastening the visitors towards a comprehensive win. Umesh, unbeaten on 40, clinched victory with a big six.

Match statistics:

Admission: £4. Programme: teamsheet (w/a). Attendance: 80. Enfield won the toss and elected to bat. Enfield 184-8 off 50 overs (Shashrika Pussegolla 78, Umesh Karunaratne 4-42, Jake Hooson 2-28) 0pts lost by seven wickets to Walsden 190-3 off 43.4 overs (Jake Hooson 67 not out, Nick Barker 47, Umesh Karunaratne 40 not out, Fergus Bailey 2-40) 10pts. Umpires: Steve Kirkbright and Phil Keating.

Enfield Cricket Club were formed in 1859, and the following year played the first games on a part of what is now their Dill Hall Lane ground. The site was levelled in 1860. The first recorded game at the venue, on the border of Clayton-le-Moors and Accrington, was on May 28th that year. The visitors were Church & Oswaldtwistle. In 1892, Enfield became founder members of the Lancashire League. The club are still members today. Enfield have engaged professionals since 1859. Arthur Appleby, from Clayton-le-Moors, was the club's first professional. He went on to play for Lancashire, and toured Canada and the US with an MCC squad also featuring W.G. Grace. Appleby played his final game for Enfield in 1902. He was 59. During the first two decades of the Lancashire League, Tom Lancaster was Enfield's star player. He set batting and bowling aggregate records that still stand. Famous players to have worn Enfield's colours over the years include Eddie Paynter (he played in the 'Bodyline' Test series), Clyde Walcott, Conrad Hunte, Dik Abedspent, Madan Lal, Damien Fleming, Shane Lee (Brett's older brother), Martin van Jaarsveld and Alviro Petersen. Enfield have topped the Lancashire League on five occasions, in 1909, 1943, 1968, 1971 and 1977. They lifted the league's knockout Worsley Cup trophy in 1978, 1979, 1989 and 1991, and were beaten finalists in 1953, 1973 and 1977.

Sumpter Valley's 40-ton, 2-Truck Heisler covers its train with a steam blanket in the chilly air of a fall morning.

It is difficult to find adjectives to describe Heisler Locomotives. When Charles Heisler first started putting his designs to paper back in the late 1800s, beauty was definitely not high on his list of priorities. These engines were built for hauling logs off out of remote locations, where grades were steep and track was often pretty darn bad. Tractive effort was the primary design consideration. The Heisler utilized a two-cylinder steam engine, with those cylinders arranged in a V-configuration. You might say it was one of the first V-Twins. Those cylinders drove a central drive shaft, which extended down the longitudinal centerline of the locomotive. The drive shaft was, in turn, geared to the front wheel set of each truck. The rear wheel set on each truck was connected to, and received power from, the front wheel set via side-rods. Yup....it was a real piece of work. A particularly efficient piece of work at that. The Heisler design minimized the number of times that direction of motion was changed within the drive train, and in doing so, got more power from the cylinders to the track than its relatives, the Shay and the Climax. Heislers were also the fastest of the geared engines, which made them somewhat more versatile. Unfortunately, no machine is perfect and the Heisler had its shortcomings. That central drive shaft made the running gear a little tougher to maintain than on a Shay and it also limited the size of the firebox. The ride? Well, let's just say that a long day on a Heisler was like a long day on a Harley Davidson!

So I was browsing Facebook ads last week, as I always do, and came across this - the S.H. Figuarts Tuxedo Kamen figure from the Sailor Moon line. With the ladies completed (ish.. I mean, they're not technically complete due to the Super line but whatever) I had resigned myself to only getting the rest if they fell into my lap.

The universe does some time provide, as this was also located in an area I frequent even during COVID and best of all, it was a whopping $35 CAD, or roughly $25 USD at the time of this writing.

Clearly I wasn't about to say "No" to this.

For the uninitiated, Tuxedo Kamen is the reincarnation of Princess Serenity's lover, Endymion. I'm gonna go ahead and presume that this particular tidbit is about as shocking as finding out Santa Claus is really whoever had time to run to the toy store.

As a character, he features more predominately in the first two seasons of the 90s show, and as an actual fighter much more useful in the 90s show as compared to his abilities in Crystal which thus far have been effectively a Kamehameha (I've only seen up to Season 2). Tuxedo Kamen is also armed with razor sharp throwing roses, and extending cane, and of course, a Masters degree in Slam Poetry.

Lets find out if they were able to capture all this in figure form.

The set comes pretty well packed. Released in 2015 at a MSRP of 5,000 Yen, it was about 600 Yen or so more expensive than the ladies themselves. In the set you of get the figure, four total face plates (eyes closed, eyes open, mask on with eyes revealed, mask on with eyes covered over - for when he was still mysterious), a rose, that locket that featured promaninetly in Season One during his search for his past, his cane, various posing hands, and a posing stand.

Tuxedo Kamen looks pretty good, and doesn't have any of the issues with a disproportionate face or strange gaps on the side of the head. Sculptors, to me, focused on maintaining the lines of his tuxedo rather than maximizing articulation

Size wise, he scales fine with the original Sailor Moon, but I think if anything this figure shows that the Super version really was made too tall. Also, because of the non existent scaling standards, Tuxedo Kamen will undoubtedly look like Sagat next to most of your Figuarts.

Colour wise, I'm not sure what else needs overhauling. I say that in the sense that the recent "anime colour" reissues have brighter colours to make them more accurate to their screen counterparts. I mean, I guess you could make the white and skintone brighter, but honestly what can do you about the black.

Technically, Tuxedo Kamen has two head sculpts - with and without the top hat. In order to secure the hat to this head, that sculpt has giant plastic knob underneath it, which looks hilariously like a Fez.

The base, for.. reasons, is a repainted standard SHF rectangular piece. I get that it's black for the purposes of Tuxedo Kamen, but when everyone is transparent, it really doesn't fit in.

Oh yes.. can't forget about the cape. It's... mostly terrible. The whole thing sits on a frame that allows for some articulation but overall you're not going to be able to do some of the more classic poses involving the cape. Lets not forget the sheer weight and size of the cape making posing very difficult.. you're gonna want to use that stand if you're displaying with the cape on.

This poor bastard definitely needs a wired cloth cape.

Tuxedo Kamen has the same points of articulation as the ladies - ankles, single jointed knees, hips with pull down function, waist, mid torso, shoulders with some collapse, single jointed elbows, wrists, neck, and head. Due to the design of the body, range of motion at the ankles and shoulders is severely limited, as is the mid torso joint.

Overall, you can get some elegant looking poses out of the figure, but there's zero chance you're getting anything dynamic looking.

Paint wise, due to the relative simplicity of Tuxedo Kamen, there les chance of messy or uneven paint apps. Yes, there is still some uneven masking along the blue parts, but it's not as distracting on the ladies. I will admit that the paint on the actual mask itself seems a bit haphazard, and colour matching between the waist piece and the rest of the outfit isn't quite perfect.

Decal work on the faces is well done.

Build quality is quite good, and feels superior to any of the Senshi, even at the hips. Joints are tight, limb sizes are correct, and there are no issues with tolerances. Finishes on the parts themselves are smooth, with seams generally well taken care of.

Alright.. I think that about sums it up. Stylish looking figure, terrible cape, above average posing options. It's really too bad the cape ended up the way it did, as it really is like Batman's in that it's part of the character design.

Natonga Village, on the Barotse plain of western Zambia is 80km off the main road along a 4x4 only dirt track. It is here that the community hopes to adapt to climate change using ideas they come up with themselves.

The Climate Investment Fund is supporting projects within the Pilot Project for Climate Resilience in Zambia. The largest plan the in the country is the Barotse Sub Basin, in the country's far western half.

The Barotse floodplain in western Zambia is becoming a more difficult place to live and farm as climate change impacts worsen and an old canal system no longer functions. New funding aims to make exposed communities like the ones on the Barotse floodplain more resilient to the effects of climate change - in large part by allowing local people to figure out what changes they think would be most effective and giving them money to carry them out. Zambians say the approach should be more effective and more resistant to corruption.

Language functions such as grammar, vocabulary and literal meaning are typically lateralized to the left hemisphere, especially in right handed individuals. While language production is left-lateralized in up to 90% of right-handed subjects, it is more bilateral, or even right lateralized in approximately 50% of left-handers.In contrast, prosodic language functions, such as intonation and accentuation, often are lateralized to the right hemisphere of the brain. The processing of visual and auditory stimuli, spatial manipulation, facial perception, and artistic ability are represented bilaterally, but may show a right hemisphere superiority.Numerical estimation, comparison and online calculation depend on bilateral parietal regions while exact calculation and fact retrieval are associated with left parietal regions, perhaps due to their ties to linguistic processing. Dyscalculia is a neurological syndrome associated with damage to the left temporo-parietal junction. This syndrome is associated with poor numeric manipulation, poor mental arithmetic skill, and the inability to either understand or apply mathematical concepts. Depression is linked with a hyperactive right hemisphere, with evidence of selective involvement in "processing negative emotions, pessimistic thoughts and unconstructive thinking styles", as well as vigilance, arousal and self-reflection, and a relatively hypoactive left hemisphere, "specifically involved in processing pleasurable experiences" and "relatively more involved in decision-making processes". Additionally, "left hemisphere lesions result in an omissive response bias or error pattern whereas right hemisphere lesions result in a commissive response bias or error pattern." The delusional misidentification syndromes, reduplicative paramnesia and Capgras delusion are also often the result of right hemisphere lesions. There is evidence that the right hemisphere is more involved in processing novel situations, while the left hemisphere is most involved when routine or well rehearsed processing is called for.

History

The Celler "Zuchthaus (jail)", as it is called in the colloquial language to this day, is regarded as the oldest prison in Germany still in function. Here, over three centuries, all the important phases of modern correctional system can be read conceptually and structurally. They range from the "Jailhouse" of the early 18th century to the "high-security tract" of the late 20th century. This can also be seen in the frequent name changes, a total of about ten times.

The prison was built between 1710 and 1724 as "workhouse, jail und madhouse". It was built in the French style by Johann Caspar Borchmann, the master builder of Duke Georg Wilhelm. At that time the institution lay still outside the city in the Westceller suburb. It was founded in order not to leave the prisoners to their destiny, but to educate them. This guiding principle, however, did not find any entrance into the Latin saying about the gate entrance "Puniendis facinorosis custodiendia furiosis et mente captis publico sumptu dicata domus" (to punish the evildoers, to guard the raving madmen and mentally ill from public resources erected house). The educational idea was an idea that had been implemented for the first time in Holland (Rasphuis Amsterdam). At that time the very different prisoners were still accommodated together in rooms.

In the historical inner courtyard of the building complex you can find the coat of arms of Chur-Hanover with the saying of the Order of the Garter "Honi soit qui mal y pense" (evil to him who evil thinks') and the motto of the English crown "Dieu et mon droit" (for God and my right). At the beginning of construction (1710), ruled George I Louis, Knight of the Order of the Garter, and later also King of Great Britain. In 1833, all mentally disordered people were transferred from the house to Hildesheim and the lawyer Georg Friedrich König from Osterode for free speech put in prison (the same house!). At the end of the 19th century, the institution was extended to the cell prison, the "isolation cell wing", a structure still valid today. Towards the end of the Weimar Republic it became Prussian "reform prison" under the director Fritz Kleist. New were, inter alia, gymnastics, radio room and readings for the prisoners as well as a museum. That is why the Celler citizens gave the prison the nickname "Café Kleist".

From 1934 political prisoners were arrested, as had been the case during the period of the Kingdom of Hanover and the German Empire, including the Celler KPD chairman Otto Elsner and workers of the Hanomag resistance group. Otto Marloh was one of the prison directors in the time of National Socialism. At the end of the Second World War, a total of 228 prisoners died from January until the invasion of the British on April 15, 1945, as a result of the poor prison conditions of the overcrowded jail. The dead were not buried in cemeteries, but buried hastily on the prison site. After the Second World War the prison was renamed several times, first in "penal institution", then in "prison", 1972 finally in "correctional facility". At this time, arose the new exterior wall made of concrete and a highly secured special unit for prisoners of the Red Army Faction. The installation of a modern stairs house in the late 1990s was the last major structural intervention.

Geschichte
