"Así frente a la hostilidad, frente a las formas animales de la tempestad y del huracán, los valores de protección y de resistencia de la casa se trasponen en valores humanos, la casa adquiere las energías físicas y morales de un cuerpo humano.
Una casa así exige al ser humano un heroísmo cósmico, es un instrumento para afrontar el cosmos". - La poética del espacio. Bachelard.

I asked them to repair the existing gate so that it actually closes and locks. The whole thing was leaning and never locked before they put the cedar braces on. Thumbs up.
A broken payphone and a couple of rusty newspaper boxes sit outside the long closed South Shore Line station at Michigan City.
Hmmmm, new boots for placement (they'll be under trousers most of the time and were the best thing I could find as I have awkward feet) - I tried them on for Sam this morning and this is how he described them. Cue many doubts about whether I should take them back.

Anybody got some nice ideas??
This is the fully armed and operational desk (missing printer). I took this before I had the chance to clutter it up.

We asked students to check out a sample chapter and tell us which was their favourite image was and why. Overwhelmed by the thoughtful and interesting entries we received, it was hard to pick a winner! And we are happy to announce that the winner was Kate Duggan, a 5th year student at the University of Auckland.
We have begun work on the newest feature of artcar displays at ComFest www.comfest.com and Hot Times Music and Arts Festival www.hottimesfestival.com . I will spare the photos to prove this is truly functional art and let this long line demonstrate that fact. The portajohn will be featured in the August issue of PRO Magazine www.promonthly.com/ , which is my second national media exposure following USA Today www.usatoday.com .

University building Nijmegen NL - Benthem Crouwel Architects - 2010-2014
The Grotiusbuilding is a new university building for the Radboud University Nijmegen. The building will be mainly used by the Faculty of Law. The cantilevered floors with recessed glass facades between them provide and open and optimal interaction with the park setting that envelopes the building. The building ‘drops’ a level into the ground and has a floor of recessed penthouses on top, making the building bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. Through the void the daylight flows abundantly to the heart of the building and at the lowest floors around it, where the most public areas are accommodated. By using mainly natural materials inside, a warm and comfortable atmosphere is created. The library is directly visible from the central meeting area. Due to the glass walls the books determine the appearance in most areas of the building. The restaurant has a spacious terrace that is directly connected to the library. The penthouse-offices also offer more spatial quality with an amazing view of the green surroundings. Overall the horizontal lines of the floors give the building a classic and timeless look, while multi-functionality and flexibility are foremost. Gross floor area 16.000 m2
The dirty dishes collect beneath the sign that says "Do not leave... dishes or glasses in this laundry room." But some people cannot believe that such a sign pertains to them! :( I call this phenomenon "functional illiteracy"!
