The view across Lavender Bay from the Colonnades Lookout.
In the foreground is Luna Park, whilst across Lavender Bay is McMahons Point. In the far distance, across the harbour, is the Walsh Bay Wharf Precinct & Barangaroo.
This, for me, is a newly discovered vantage point just off Alfred Street at Milsons Point (aka North Sydney), and a little way along Cliff Street.
AND, along Cliff Street is an amazing (and super cheap - for Sydney, lol) Vietnamese restaurant - Viet Earth. I returned to this after getting all my sunset harbour photographs!!

Just about every year, I shoot images of the Ferris Wheel in Salthill, and invariably they turn out being moody at best and terror filled at worst. Perhaps it's that seaside 'fun zones' remind me of childhood terror -- I was injured and nearly killed on a roller coaster at age 10. (Image processed in Lightroom, no AI.)

My husband Tom would vacation Balboa Island every year when he was a child. They would rent a cabin and enjoy the sea and sand for $10/week.

Tom took his son to Balboa Island as well - one thing they did was the Carousel in the Fun Zone. When they removed the ride in the early 2000s, I was able to purchase a horse as a gift for him.
The horse had to be restored and I found a company that did just that - they were located in Florida so I shipped it. After restoration the horse was shipped back however it was in the Fall and during hurricane season. It arrived damaged so we had to ship it back. When it finally reached us at home again we aptly named him Stormy.

We were in Southern California in Orange County for a few days. If I compare with the San Francisco Bay Area, Newport Beach and Balboa Peninsula have the vibe of Santa Cruz with surfers and former hippies. Just next to the ferry landing is a tiny amusement park with a small Ferris wheel. It's called the Balboa Fun Zone. Fun fun!
The name Balboa is a surname of Galician origin. It was originally a place name derived from the Latin "vallis bona", meaning "pleasant valley."
I processed a paintery and a photographic HDR photo from a RAW exposure, merged them selectively, and carefully adjusted the curves and color balance to pop the scene. I welcome and appreciate your critical feedback.

That is what the sign says but I am on a ferry leaving Balboa Island going to the Fun Zone on the Balboa Peninsula. I am amazed that everything lined up for the pano since every shot was further away.
